As If It Weren't Obvious

From Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit, an email from a
reader who works in a mainstream media newsroom:

“Off the record, every suspicion you have about MSM being in the tank for O is true. We have a team of 4 people going thru dumpsters in Alaska and 4 in Arizona. Not a single one looking into Acorn, Ayers or Freddiemae. Editor refuses to publish anything that would jeopardize election for O, and betting you dollars to donuts same is true at NYT, others. People cheer when CNN or NBC run another Palin-mocking but raising any reasonable inquiry into obama is derided or flat out ignored. The fix is in, and its working.” I asked permission to reprint without attribution and it was granted.

Gravatar Dear O and M

I have read a lot recently about what should Iraqis do to protect their;

1- Sovereignty.
2- Independence,
3- Security.
4- Oil wealth and assets.
5- Peace inside.
6- New Parliamentary democracy and freedom.
7- The Rule of Law.
8- Human Rights gains.
9- The constitution.
10- Freedom of speech etc.
11- Inward investment.

I came to the conclusion that without the American Army's presence, they will all be sunk.

I would consider Al Maliky's turnaround over the past few days, to be a very mature and responsible decision to accept that the Iranians/ Syrians will not be allowed , through his or his colleagues to control events in Iraq, even if it meant removing him legally or otherwise.

The Iraqis must understand the resolve of the free world that the hope of the returns to dictatorship- whether these are secular or religious - are dashed for ever.

No strong person or party will ever rule Iraq alone in a tyrannical way.

Whence this fact is understood and settled, all of these schemes and conspiracies will melt away like the snow in the Sun.

The Al Maliky realisation that, the two Iranian/Syrian demands of evicting the USA Forces from Iraq - creating a secuirty vaccum- and or insisting on a deadline for that, or putting the American forces under the Iraqi- Corrupt Justice system - is none starter, we have a good chance of winning the war against the terrorists, the insurgents and Al Qaeda and the Iraqi Lawless thugs.

It is this one demand by Mooky on instruction from Iran that made life so miserable over the past five years, for the poor of Iraq, when their areas took up arms against the Coalition and Iraqi security Forces. These areas were cut off from any development money or projects, compared to the other Sunni and kurdish areas who received billions of dollars in cash an development projects. This deprivation has left the same impoverished people living in their own excrements and urine which filled their roads, schools and houses.

It is time to concentrate on building Iraq and reconstructing it rather than listen to the jealous outsiders telling us what to do. Whom we should have as friends and whom we should reject.

We must tell them to mind theri own business and leave us be.

I am proud of what the Iraqis have done to say 'thank you' to the Americans and the British for helping Iraq come alive and for the Iraqis once again to feel proud by their nationality. identity and passports.

Some Iraqis Inside Iraq have no idea, how the other countries have treated 'us' the Iraqis outside Iraq, when the whole world boycotted Iraq when it was a 'dictatorship'.

Now they welcome us with smiles.

Our future must be linked to the USA and the free world. Like all sensible people have done. Billions of them including India.

We deserve democracy and the freedom we now have, and what these bring with them.

Thank the USA/UK a thousnd times.

Senator John MacCain Sir, thank you for supporting the 'Surge' ideas.

We wish you the best of luck with the Election.

Kind regards

Gravatar Shhhhh don't tell the democrats it's going well in Iraq! They are working to distroy the economy in the USA! It seems they want more to blame Bush for!

Of course Iraq is doing well!
The republicans fought for it! It took an attack first from 9-11 to get the ball rolling is all!

All we have to do now is press on for the better is all!

Keep watching those demi's they are working for the terrorists!

Gravatar To Commander Kurt: 09.30.08 12:47 p.m. Dear Sir: Thank you for your service, it is sincerely appreciated. My daughter was in the U.S. Army and went into Iraq in the initial invasion/liberation. She is in the private sector now. I am very proud of her. She said she is proud to have served and proud that she helped in the liberation of Iraq. Thank you to all of our brave military forces, our brave allies, our brave veterans, and the brave Iraqi people who have fought for freedom.

Gravatar great article...

too bad many Americans won't see this, but I will be sure to let my friends know b/c I think this is too important to sweep under the rug...

even though our economy isn't strong right now, national security - as well as our allies' security is rather important...

Gravatar I certainly hope McCain wins the election for Iraq's sake. I am not sure what Obama will do with Iraq considering everything he has said from the beginning has turned 360.

Gravatar One day the Dems will realize McCain has been right all along that without a surge of US troops, the 400,000 Iraqi Security Forces could never have handled al Qaeda in Iraq plus the insurgents and militia groups funded and equipped by Iran. I genuinely hope for an enduring freedom and democracy in Iraq, but my biggest concern is how much Maliki has embraced Ahmadinejad.

Does Maliki have widespread popularity in Iraq? How do Iraqis feel about his close alliance with Iran? And which party is ahead in the polls right now in your upcoming provincial elections in January?

Gravatar Lifted this from the Belmont Club;

Palin has a friendly audience on Hugh Hewitt and starts to get a bit of her mojo back. She needs to do a LOT more of this.

http://hughhewitt.townhall.com/b...7d- f2f9a7f56b68

She has a lot of good lines in the interview. This subtle dig was my favorite.

HH: Now Governor, the Gibson and the Couric interview struck many as sort of pop quizzes designed to embarrass you as opposed to interviews. Do you share that opinion?

SP: Well, I have a degree in journalism also, so it surprises me that so much has changed since I received my education in journalistic ethics all those years ago.

SARACUDA! U go GYRL!

Gravatar Just in case it hasn't beenn posted here yet, this is the street legal version of "burning down the house";

http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=1...id=event_597487

It explains why we are having an economic crisis and what you can do about it. Just read it and follow the directions.
The MSM is tanking big time on this, so it up to the pajamadeen to carry the battle to the enemy.

Gravatar The MSM doesn't even pretend to be objective anymore. From virtually ignoring coverage on Iraq now that violence is down, except in cases of negative spin, to the blatent double-standard in the coverage of Palin vs. the coverage of Biden, the elites in the MSM have thrown journalistic integrity and balance out the window.

And, they don't get it. They seem to live and operate in a homogenous bubble of left elitism. They don't understand that, as they continue to try to project their out-of-touch perspectives out onto the rest of us in middle America, it only further exposes the gap between their world and the world of most everyday Americans. When GW Bush was re-elected in 2004, they reacted with astonishment because they just could not understand how he was re-elected when nobody THEY new was voting for him. The same kind of scenario may be shaping up in 2008.

Dear O and M

One criminal in Dewaniah was hanged and 42 others were sentenced to hang for crimes against the Iraqi people, coalition and the security forces.

Al Mahdi Army was active in the area over the past two years.

It will be great to ask the Iranians to extradite The Criminal Muqtada Al Sader - from Iran to face the similar criminal charges against him when he had his Kangaroo Court and torture chamber in Najaf, and his ordering- verbally - of the killing of Al Khoi in Najaf. His incitment for diorder in Basra and other Cities is well documented.

He should be tried under the Terrorism Act in Iraq.

It will be a total shame and utter foolhardiness for the current legal system in Iraq to remain silent and motinonless and not pursue Muqtada legally for his obvious crimes against the Iraqi elected by the Iraqi people- establishment.

For inciting rebellion and for damaging public properties and causing so much hurt and harm, to so many innocent people. The Christians, the Yazidis, Mendais the Shiites themselves - including my own family memebers- who did not obey him and his Lawless thugs and the killing of the Sunnis boys and men ' Wara Al Saddah' behind the berm- in Al Thourah- Sader City - by his murder squads, just because they were Sunnis.

It would seem , to me at least, there is a conspiracy of silence by all levels of authorised people, about letting him get away with his crimes in Iraq.

Whoever is protecting him and covering up on his behalf will be exposed sooner or later and be made to feel shame and dishonour very soon.

He should be tried for Treason too.

If indeed the Iraqi legal system is truely an independent as per the constitution, and is not just ink on a piece of paper to be shelved under the dust, and is not influenced by political or religious personalities and considerations. Then it must act against Muqtada and very soon.

Muqtada has posed a challenge to satbility and the CPA and was only spared arrest due to the close rotational leave by the US Marines in Najaf - which was to be replaced by the Polish contingent. Judge Raad Juhi was right in issueing his arrest warrant. He had at least two witnesses who confirmed that Mooky had issued the order to kill Al Khoi in cold blood. He accused him of being a collaborator with British and Americans.

'An Arabic speaker an American named Mike has described Muqtada as ' Bolshevick Islamist' who understood only one thing, raw power, and who would stop at nothing to get it.'

It is curious someone sitting in the comfort of the USA at Langley said to Bremer,' We should ignore him and that his support already weak, would gradually fade away.'

How many people did he and his followers killed and murdered and tortured? Since 2003?

He is now under the control and command of Iran causing more trouble and interfering in the conduct of the government in Baghdad. The self appointed exiled 'King'?

He must be brought back to Baghdad and najaf, to face justice in Iraq and soon.

He is not his honourable and respected father. In fact if his father knew what he did and is doing now, in his name, he would be turning in his grave.

If any body wants to challenge me with this accusation/ allegation please contact me here in London via the Iraqi Welfare Association or via Omar.

My own family have lost money, were displaced internally and suffered physical abuse, torture and kidnappings at his Mahdi Army hands.

The Iraqi Government knows that too.

Kind regards

Well said.

Al maliky will win hands down if he goes to the poles now.

He is very popular amongst all Iraqis, sunnis, shittes and kurds and the minorities.

He went for the Mahdi Army perosnaly in Basra and other Southern cities. He went for the Lawless thugs at other cities, in Mosul and Diyala too. He will have our votes certainly. I belong to a large tribe in Iraq. Al Rubaie/ Al Wahailat.

Iraqis Clean Up Jewish Cemetery
& Cultural Landmark in Basra

excerpt:

[Municipal authorities in the southern city of Basra have mounted a campaign to clean up the Jewish cemetery there. The cemetery is seen as one of Basra’s ‘cultural landmarks’ and the authorities want to keep it clean and tidy, said Ahmad al-Yasseri who heads the cleaning-up campaign.

There are no Jews left in the city which used to house a sizeable Jewish community of tens of thousands before the creation of Israel in 1948. They were the finest goldsmiths and the most adventurous traders of Basra, known as the Venice of the Middle East. The lived in one of the city’s smartest (English use means nicest) quarters with spacious villas adorned with palm trees and oranges.

Yasseri said in the tumultuous post-Saddam period, 62 houses were built on the cemetery grounds illegally. “This cemetery is one of the cultural landmarks of Basra and we are determined to remove the illegal dwellings,” he said.]

Dear O and M

Now since my last comments about the help that is being extended by the American troops to the needy Iraqi families near them.

This is a second time I read the Iraqi news webs publishing this work. in priase of the Americans.

My advice to the Centcom/ Americans is to use all of these Iraqi sites and TV channels to let Iraq and the Arabs and the rest of the world know what you are doing, helping the poor in Iraq.

The major projects are too high powered. But the human help is local and more tangible, ordinary people could feel it and touch it. It should be done to make a difference to the needy folks. Those below the poverty line who are neglected by the Iraqis in positions of Authority.

Please go to www.9neesan.com in Arabic and publish these types of articles - in Arabic.

This item is related to the US Marines - through the Marine Lt. priest Ray Rivers, helping the widows at Al Ritbah Town 17000 population in western Iraq. Rivers met with the Imam of Al Rutbah Mosque Mohammed Ahmed Nadien Obaid, and agreed to help these poor families with long lasting food stuff such as fruits, milk, juices etc. The Iraqi army delivered these supplies to the individual houses to these poor widows and their children.

Why cannot the Iraqi Army do the same?

The Iraq purse is full these days. Why are the Iraqi children and their mothers going hungry and in the open?

They should collect all the children gather them and house them and look after them now.

These are the future leaders of Iraq.

They should not be neglected and made to scavenge from the Garbage dumps , beg and live rough in order to survive?

Forget about procrastinating, and delaying until the Social Security Law is being instituted by the lazy Parliament's committees. Save the children NOW.

Kind regards

US, Iraq step up operations
against Iranian terror groups

excerpt:

[US forces detained five members of the Hezbollah Brigades in Baghdad on Saturday as part of a renewed push to blunt the return of Iranian-backed Shia terror groups reentering Iraq. The Iraqi and US military have stepped up operations against the Special Groups over the past two weeks. Iraqi and US forces killed two Special Groups fighters and captured 107 since Sept. 16.

[snip]

One of the largest single roundups of Iranian-backed fighters occurred on Sept. 25-26 north of Nasiriyah. Iraqi forces detained 53 Special Groups operatives and found large weapons caches during a series of operations north of the city.

The Special Groups and the Mahdi Army fled to Iran after the Iraqi military, backed by Coalition forces, launched a series of operations against the Mahdi Army in central and southern Iraq in March 2008.]

Dear O and M

This is a brilliant news item.

The awakening council men and women's salaries will be paid by the iraqi government as from 10th November onwards.

$15 Million per month. To take over the employement of the 100,000 or more. is a win win situation for the Americans, the people and the army or the security forces.

I have read that some of them are skepitcal about the seriousness of Al maliky Government and that this was a trap to catach and ensnare them all and physically eliminate them one by one.

Now this is a distrubing fear and must be removed immediately and tackled head on and now.

These people have fought, with their families Al Qaeda and other Militias and Insurgents. Some of them should be selected and honoured and publically thanked by the Prime Minister, the President and the Ministers of the Defence and Interiors.

Thay must welcomed openly and on TV in ceremonies as Iraqis who have served the people of Iraq as a whole and must be rewarded appropriately.

Granted, some may have fought the Coalition Forces and the Iraqi Army or Police, but these have now discovered their true allegeinces, which is to Iraq and Iraq only. These are patriotic individuals who must be treated with respect and not suspicions. They must be welcomed with open arms to the Iraqi family and made fuss of.

If there are proven criminal activiteis of any of them without any reasonable doubt, then these must be sent to open courts and be allowed to defend themselves against these allegations.

They must be by the highest Authority how welcome they are, by the Kurds, the Arabs Sunnis and the Arabs Shiites and (Kurdish Failias Shiites )alike.

Iraq needs true Iraqis to build it and work tirelssly to reconstruct it.

These people, will make an excellent example of how much they love Iraq and will show how much they care about it.

Welcome them, ease their fears, respect them, honour them and train and absorb them in the society as soon as possible.

Any one who should kill any of them should be hanged in Public whatever, religion or nationality he/she comes from.

My fellow Iraqis. Welcome back.

Thank you for helping to defeat Al Qaeda and other renegades.

remember Iraq has changed and you must learn to accept that there two sides to every coin. Other people may have differnt views from yours, so learn to be tolerant and forgiving.

Keep well and God bless you all, your families, relatives and friends, and your trainers the Coalition Forces.

"Angry Iraqi Christians rip law stripping them of seats in parliament"

"I think that some political groups are pushing the remaining Christians to leave Iraq," worshipper Afram Razzaq-Allah said after services at a Catholic church in Baghdad. "They want us to feel that we are no longer Iraqis."

Gravatar Omar, by way of reassurance I don't think Obama can win the election...without the use of dirty tactics his former employers A.C.O.R.N. are so good at, i.e., registering dead people and homeless for the price of a bottle of liquor to get them to vote Democrap. I really wish we could have purple fingers on every voter.

Most of my family are longtime Democrats and all have said they cannot vote for Obama, not because of his color, but because he's a socialist! I've heard anecdotal evidence that even in Democrat strongholds of New Jersy and Boston, Obama signs are scarce, even though congressional and senate sign abound. Texas is traditionally a Republican/conservative [GOP] state, and so my own evidence of 2 Obama vs. 60 McCain signs in my tiny town doesn't say as much as someone from New Jersey saying it. This latest bank crisis has spotlighted Obama's lack of lack of leadership skills, while spotlighting McCain's leadership as he suspended his campaign to hammer out a deal. Sarah Palin has energized conservative GOP voters like nothing seen since Ronald Reagan!

As evidence comes to light about who caused the current financial crisis, which is due to Democrats Frank, Dobbs, Schumer, Pelosi, and most recently learned Obama, it will affect the congressional and senate races as well! [Obama was the attorney of record on a class action lawsuit to sue banks for not making home loans in a poor neighborhood due to their inability to repay them, which is essentially the cause of the crisis...and this is just becoming known!] Bush has tried 17 times in 2008 to get regulations to stop it before it reached crisis, and McCain has warned about it for years. In 2005 he proposed legislation to regulate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to avoid the crisis. Democrats refused to pass it because they were essentially using it as their piggy bank. Over the nine years of Fannie Mae, they've given more campaign funds to Obama than any other candidate EVER!

It may be close, but I believe the Republicans [GOP] will win.

BTW, happy to see you back!

Dear O and M

This is a slap in the face for the Iraqi Parliament. The European Parliament has nominated Mr. Mithal Al Alousy, who visited Israel last month , the General Secretary of the Umma Party for The Zakharof International Prize. It often deal with people who support freedom and human rights and the peaceful coexistence with others, and against Tyranny, injustice, unfairness, and Dictatorships.

What a great honour for an Iraqi to reach this stage. Especially this brave man. Some may think he was reckless, but I do not.

He has hit hypocracy head on. What he openly did was done by these so called Arabic/ Iraqi Crocodiles tears so called Nationalists, secretly.

Nelson Mandella was a recipient of the award, I think?

It would appear that the Iraqi Parliament has acted in Haste and possibly illegally against the new constitutional rights of the Iraqi Individuals under the new Iraq's freedom, as guaranteed by the Constitution, to punish Mr. Al Alousy, but we leave that to the Fedral Court.

Sir, if you read this, we wish you luck, and please do not worry too much as the Iraqi people, who are very intellegent will never let you down. Please God bring the next general Election fast.

Kind regards

We need to all remember that the president, no matter who he/she may be, cannot do just anything they want without congress. Right now congress has a very dismal approval rating with both democrats and republicans. Most of the members in the house of representatives and many in the senate are up for re-election in November. The financial crisis has both dems and repubs totally pissed off. 95% of all e-mails and calls and letters to congress overwhelmingly are against this bailout. There is a very good possibility that congress will be completely revamped in November. There is a strong possibility that the republicans will obtain the majority in congress, and that will not bode well at all for a 'president Oblabla.'

Gravatar In their own words: What Democrats had to say about Fan and Fred

http://online.wsj.com/article/ SB...4391296381.html

Yes, folks, those damn, fear-mongering Republicans were trying to regulate our bloated mortgage giants, and the Democrats wouldn't hear of it.

This article is helpful, and I would like to see more of this kind of history. In particular, I would like to see the flip side of this debate, especially if specific Republicans were right, and if they offered some realistic solutions. We are going to need the realistic solutions, if we want to avoid similar occurrences, perhaps much sooner than we think.

Just what reform did John McCain suggest? What reform did George Bush request? Did anybody, anywhere, offer a reasonable plan that we might, belatedly, enact?

We have an election coming up, and while it may be fun to jump up and down, hold your breath and turn purple, hollering “Kill the Bill” at your Congressman is 1) NOT going to solve the current, real, dangerous fiscal problem and 2) NOT going to help elect anybody you want to see in office.

I believe the nuts have taken over the Democratic party, and that means there is an opportunity for the Republican party, provided the Republicans can present some positive reason to vote FOR them, and a reason to vote FOR them would be the classic reason: fiscal sanity. The Democrats do not have fiscal sanity in mind, and they never have.

The GOP has gone off the rails, but GOP 2.0 would be a good reference point. If you want a decent government, you have to elect Senators and Congressmen as well as a President.

Gravatar After reading this scurrilous NYT piece, one of my thoughts was that the BDS explanation for the credit crunch is typically inverted, and that the actual source was PC lending.

That is, Congress-mandated lending to PC borrowing categories has had the same effect on the financial world that PC-speak has had on language, education and politics: degradation and destruction. As soon as you make circumlocution and avoidance of good judgment the basis for decisions and principles, you are in a steep power dive towards the cold, hard ground.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/ wp...8100103112.html

excerpts:

There is Veronica Peterson, who bought her house on Fox Grape Terrace in Columbia for $545,000 in November 2006, and eventually lost it. The monthly payments were $4,450, even though her previous year's income was $50,000 plus child support from her ex-husband. Only later, when housing counselors brought it to her attention, did she notice that on the loan application the broker had inflated her income and listed assets she didn't own.

"These loans were weapons of mass destruction," she says, getting ready for the Man with her son Ryan, 3, who is holding a copy of "David and Goliath." "They destroyed our credit, our lives, and they blew up in our face."

*************

When I was a divorced mom with a kid in tow, and my income was 50K/year, I bought a two-bedroom condo for 63K because I knew I did not want to be "house poor." I did not buy in a prime location, and the place was nice, but no bigger than I actually needed.

$545,000 is the price of a four-bedroom, 3 1/2 bath standalone house on a prime lot in Columbia today. I probably could not get that price for my own home right now, and one woman with one child would rattle around in my house like marbles in a shoebox.

Tons of links (with what an electron weighs, that is a whole bunch!) over at the Belmont Club. Also PJM has quite a few. Several ongoing threads with the video links.
Check out "burning down the house" on YouTube. The Democrats made youtube pull that video, then the video makers sued and got it put back after changing the music.
YouTube, like Google and Yahoo is in the tank.
The MSM cannot beat the web, so they are trying to co-opt it.

Gravatar Hello All: Personally, I wish the moderator for tonights VP debate had been changed. I don't know why anyone should even think twice about that. If the tables were turned, the Dems would be squealing like the pig that got stuck under the gate. This moderator, Gwen Ifell, obviously has a financial interest in seeing that Obama/Biden do well. The Dems have resorted to so many illegal, unsavory tactics in registering unqualified voters, etc, I just do not put anything past them. This is a very important election coming up. I think they would stoop to anything, no matter how questionable to win it. Remember the Pres. debate last time where John Kerry did so well, and Pres. Bush didn't. Pres. Bush had just come that day from seeing the victims and devastation from a hurricane here in the States. (I forget which hurricane). John Kerry seemed so polished and prepared in his answers, I even suspected that maybe, possibly he had the debate questions furnished ahead of time. Well, it sounds bad but you never know. I put that idea on a blog (not ITM) and got soundly thrashed for suggesting it. Who is to say this Gwen Ifell wouldn't do something like that this time? How would we ever know. I know, people say she is a professional journalist, etc. I say she should have recused herself because of her pending book release, she should have stepped aside. I would feel much better knowing tonight's debate would be moderated by someone impartial, or at least not someone who might stand to make thousands or millions of dollars because of a book deal, a book that has the name Obama in the title. A book to be released on Inauguration Day 2009. Impartial? Give me a break. Oh well, at least Gwen Ifell has the eyes of the whole world on her. I hope she handles things well. We will see. Good luck, Gov. Sarah Palin. And God speed.

Gravatar Hello All: I think Gov. Sarah Palin scored a home run with the debate tonight, she really did a wonderful job. It is great to see her come back, full of energy and enthusiasm, after having so many potshots against her and negative publicity for the last few weeks. The MSM didn't defeat her. I think it made her show true grit. She sure showed everyone what she is made of. I have high hopes for her and Sen. McCain. The moderator, I think, did a fair job. I didn't notice any bias.

Gravatar Valerie @ 10:10 am, thank you so much for that link. I've been very busy with work the last few days and I haven't been able to keep up with my favorite blogs. That is such good news. You probably remember a story on one of these big blogs a few years ago about Iraqi Muslims helping their Christian neighbours restore a church. Wow! The poison that permeates the Middle East is finally leaving the Cradle of Civilization. Emphasis on the word Civilization.

Gravatar i have to say that after watching the debate and then having some time to think about it, the thing that stays with with me the most is the look Mrs.Palin has through her glasses might be what makes her so cool. Its not a vapid style thing either, its a resolute Mom look that says 'cut the bullshit and tell me where you lost your jacket!" and I just love it.
I can tell that they were both very nervous and even more so with how weird the times are, but once she got rolling it was all her and the presstitute bubble was all they had to try and fight her with. its obvious that facts and reality have no traction with the left and the center and never will, but the thinkers have to agree that she's a light shining on those that live in darkness. They will try and find more darkness. So what.
I dont think they have enough of a lead to win after you take off the 20% grade inflation the left has going for the moron Obambi.

I wont apologize for my soviet republic of Michigan going for Obama, the reds are the only ones left here other than the hard headed anti statists like myself that cant just puss out and bail like we should.

Virginia Republicans are in an uproar after the state teacher's union sent an e-mail to its members encouraging them to wear blue-colored shirts to school to show their support for Barack Obama.

State Republicans are calling it an undisguised attempt to influence students' political views.

The Virginia Education Association sponsored "Obama Blue Day" on Tuesday. In an e-mail sent last week, it urged teachers to participate by dressing in blue.

"There are people out there not yet registered. You teach some of them," the Sept. 25 e-mail reads. "Others, including our members, remain on the fence! Its time for us to come together, voice our unity, because we make a difference!"

"Let's make Obama Blue Day a day of Action!" the e-mail continues. "Barack the vote!"

****************

That's state money and state computers being used to pressure state employees on behalf of a political party.

This is the kind of corruption that should be on the front page of the Washington Post, which is supposed to report with special interest on local electoral hijinks.

It wasn't in today's print edition.

Gravatar The Democrats should have had Sarah Palin as a member. I suspect they sealed the outcome of this election when they decided to try to throw Hillary and Joe out of the party.

Joe Biden doesn't belong with them any more, either.

I agree completely and if anyone doubted how the schools teach liberalism maybe this kind of news would change that.

My son in high school (senior)overheard me ranting about something in the news that day. I mentioned that the more I hear the dems and libs it DOES seem to be a disease. He laughed and said boy it sure would be interesting for you to "talk" to Ms. Mel..., one of his teachers. He said she is so biased and blatent against Bush etc. I was heartened to hear one of the girls in class was very good at rebutting her and taking the other opinion. There is some hope for our kids yet!
Years back at a board meeting I was told we parents CANT understand how best to educate our kids and that they , the TRAINED PROFESSIONS", did. The fact I had 4 kids in school at the time kept me from saying what NEEDED said. I did not want them to pay for ME. Next year I will be free from that fear, cant wait.
Somehow this stupid lay person raised a doctor, an Army Staff SGT(promoted 1 oct)., a college junior that had a 4.0 last semmester and a great 17 year old. as BG says "go figure".

Different note:
in the blocks around my home (ohio) I see only 3 yard signs for president. Amazingly, to me anyhow as yougstown is a major Dem area. they were McCain-Palin. A good barometer I hope.

Gravatar Valerie

I forgot the best part about the board meeting, The administrators wanted to be able to punish kids for things done in summer time etc. I was directing my comments of diagreement to the superintendent and the lawyer.
1. I turned out to be correct and policy modified to fit ohio laws
2. The superintendent just recently was recently released from the Ohio Pen. What was the charge---buying a student sexy underwaer, offering her a job as a stipper at a club he is a member of, Snorting coke with her in his OFFICE and offering her some vodka. Those were the big ones and this was just a few years after a board member that taught in another district was forced to resign her teaching position for an affair with a girl in class.

AND THEY KNOW BETTER THAN US! so they say.

Gravatar The moderator, I think, did a fair job. I didn't notice any bias.

VERY professional. There was one thing I noticed, but it might not have been her decision. At one point Saracuda had 'big hair' rattled and stumbling over his tongue. The Moderator gave him a new question that was in the softball range. Underhand toss league. It gave 'big hair' time to get his composure back. Can't tell if it was her doing or if that was just the next question.
Anyway, it kept Saracuda from closing in for the kill.

Gravatar Federal Judge Orders Obama
To Produce His Birth Certificate

excerpt:

[It has long been the internet controversy that Barack Obama has failed to produce his birth certificate.

A few months after the controversy began, a copy of one was put on the internet… but very quickly was called a fake by a variety of imaging experts, and blank templates of Hawaiian birth certificates were found in the online photohosting account of one of the contributors to the site that released the copy of the online version… adding fuel to the fire.

To date, Barack Obama has refused to produce a paper copy of his “vault” birth certificate, which is the full birth certificate record from the state.

A lawyer in Philadephia filed suit, calling into question the status of Barack Obama as a natural born citizen, a requirement for the Presidency, and demanding a copy of the vault certificate.

The Obama camp quickly reacted, not by producing the certificate, but by filing a motion to dismiss….

And then, on Obama’s own website, he now admits to being a US/Kenya dual national until his 18th birthday.

.

The Judge quickly denied the motion to be dismissed and has ordered Obama to produce a copy of the vault certificate, a certified copy of Obama’s citizenship, and a copy of Obama’s oath of allegiance.]

Congratulations Mr. Berg!!

Gravatar Hello All: I have been hearing a lot about schools here in the U.S. shoving liberal agendas down our students throats. I even heard of one teacher who gave an assignment which consisted of one topic: write whatever you can detrimental, offensive, about Gov. Sarah Palin. One of the students complained and the teacher had to back-track. I have also heard of conservative students being harrassed, because their viewpoint is different than the liberal teacher, other students, etc. Isn't there some kind of a law against this kind of treatment? And we complain about the madrassas schools in Afghanistan and Pakistan indoctrinating the kids.Seems like the same thing is going on over here. I don't know how wide spread it is, it seems like I hear it a lot lately. Don't the schools get some kind of federal funds, can't this be with- held if they keep up with this liberal agenda? How about the State Attorneys, don't they look into this kind of a problem? Well, I remember when I was in school. I am sure my teachers had political views, but I never knew what they were. They were there to teach their course, not to try to indoctrinate us. This video of kids singing praises to Obama is really creepy. I know he and his followers think he is the "anointed one". I just think the whole thing is weird and creepy. Well, have a good week-end everyone. We deserve it.

Joe Biden’s Alternate Universe - Michael J. Totten

excerpt:

[“When we kicked — along with France, we kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon, I said and Barack said, “Move NATO forces in there. Fill the vacuum, because if you don’t know — if you don’t, Hezbollah will control it.” Now what’s happened? Hezbollah is a legitimate part of the government in the country immediately to the north of Israel.” [Emphasis added.]

What on Earth is he talking about? The United States and France may have kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon in an alternate universe, but nothing even remotely like that ever happened in this one.

Nobody – nobody – has ever kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon. Not the United States. Not France. Not Israel. And not the Lebanese. Nobody.

Joe Biden has literally no idea what he’s talking about.

It’s too bad debate moderator Gwen Ifill didn’t catch him and ask a follow up question: When did the United States and France kick Hezbollah out of Lebanon?

The answer? Never. And did Biden and Senator Barack Obama really say NATO troops should be sent into Lebanon? When did they say that? Why would they say that? They certainly didn’t say it because NATO needed to prevent Hezbollah from returning–since Hezbollah never went anywhere.]

don't know whether to or ..

Well, that got me fired up. The Constitution is very clear.
"No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President;"

Now unless Ohhh......BAAM is 227 years old, he isn't eligable. Note that it doesn't say 1/2 citizen or 1/3 of a citizen or even .25 citizen, but a natural born citizen. Ohhhhh......BAMA, like my brother who was born in Japan, isn't eligible to be President.
The Chicago machine will fight this allthe way to the Supreme Court. Win or lose, that case won't be settled by November 04, 2008.

Obama's Threatening CAIR Lawyer

[Sandler’s role for CAIR has been to stifle people from telling the truth about Islam. For example, last year he tried to get Jihad Expert Robert Spencer banned from speaking to the Young American Foundation, by using a threatening letter. Sandler followed up by threatening columnist Mike Adams for writing about the Spencer incident.

Look, everyone deserves legal representation that is not the Issue. The real issue is why is a candidate for President of the United States, a guy who wants to take over the role of Commander-in-Chief in the war on terror, using the Lawyer for CAIR a group with terrorist connections, to represent him in a law suit? Once again the Junior Senator from Illinois leave us with questions and no answers.]

I also read that article and was beginning to celebrate. Then I found out that the author of the piece made a correction. It turns out that the judge has not yet denied the motion for dismissal by the Obamabots. It is as yet unsigned. Here is the correction:
UPDATE: Correction… It seems that while Obama really has admitted dual citizenship, the order quoted above has not yet been signed and the motion to dismiss has been not yet been denied.

While I am told it is expected in short order, I will alert you when the ruling has come down from the bench.

I am sorry for the mistake. I received faulty information from an attorney friend in Philly (no, not Berg or any of his associates) that is going to get yelled at… a lot. LOL.

Gravatar Dear O and M

The commander in chief sent several thousands of American troops to Liberate Iraq 2003. Billions of doallars were spent to date. These were approved by Congress, many over 4k have paid the ultimate sacrifice, and many more were injured and maimed and hurt. Have we asked them why they did this, and why they agreed to do this?

The mission is succeeding in Iraq and the Insurgents and Al Qaeda- Do not forget 9/11, my American friends- and the Militias are losing the battles, the Americans are winning the hearts and minds battle too.

The Coalition is winning the war, we know that as we live it daily in Iraq.

And all of a sudden someone- Democrate comes over and says- I want to change all that, I want to stop this success, and he takes with him some of the most intelligent minds, but dead enders, and persuades them to join him.

The world is being mesmerised by the looks and shapes and colours and a New idea. Change?

What a load of rubbish? What change?

The only thing that is permanent IS change. What is new then in this 'Democratic Change'?

Oh! I forget, sit with Iran and talk? we want to save American Lives. We pull them out of Iraq and send to Afghanistan. What nonesense, how can you save lives in Iraq only to send them to Bin Laden and the Taliban to shoot them? Oh! We are having a change? What? Dying American soldiers in a diffirent place from Iraq? Is that what you call Change? How silly can one get?

Why not sit with Bin Laden and tell him how well ha has done in blowing up the Imperialist's dens on 9/11 and live happily ever after? Be real? Why not tell the rest of the fanatics, OK let us work out a deal. We know we will be defeated? Why not just let us surrender and give up and let you walk all over us?

The Americans should have the resolve to carry on the fight and win.

Pulling out of Iraq will be the worst thing they would do at any time. Electing someone who will affect that surrender will be stupid and extremely wrong and irresponsible indeed.

Cheap political gains against the principles of justice, freedom, and moral courage.

I am telling the American people, DO NOT lose your minds and be brainwashed, please.

THINK. and THINK again, you will lose your credibility amongst your allies, and you will not be trusted to be dependable again. Do not DO what you did when you pulled out defeated, in Vietnam.

What is the matter with you? cannot you handle success, or do you wish to shut your eyes and forget it exists?

You are winning in Iraq and you must keep it that way.

Kind regards

PS The Americans should choose a -Team- a group of people who should protect America's long term interests and not a people who enjoy headlines and vaccuous statments carefully Choreographed to attract the attention of the naive Audiences.

Gravatar Hello All: Amazing.....I normally don't read the NY Times because basically I think it is a left wing rag, but this morning on Fox & Friends, I heard that on the FRONT PAGE of the NY Times, they have an article about Obama's relationship with William Ayers, the unrepentent terrorist. I went on the NY Times website, and it is true. Truly amazing, that they are bringing attention to it, acknowledging it, much less putting it on the front page. Also, encouraging news: Sarah Bernhardt, the comedienne, is being taken to task with criticism, for really evil, vile comments she made about Gov. Sarah Palin. I won't repeat the comments she made here, because they are truly vile, but an invitation that had been extended to Bernhardt to speak to a women's group has been revoked, due to the awful nature of her comments. Wow. Sounds like "the worm is turning". Yahoooo !!!

Gravatar Hello Hamid: Thanks for your post 10.04.08 2:40 a.m. Nice to see your passion, in reference to our election and the future of our country and yours, and the entire free world really. I have a lot of faith in the American people. The silent majority, I believe, thinks the same way you and I do. The only thing I worry about is the Dems stealing the election. They are doing so many underhanded tactics in registering unqualified voters, etc, they are determined to steal the election, if they can't win it lawfully. That is scary. In addition, the young people are being courted, being caught up in this euphoria, the change mantra, etc. Obama has a lot of charisma (well, some people think so, but I don't) but I think the young people are attracted to him. The older voters I think are more reliable voters, or have been in the past and I think they tend to be more conservative. I think in the next debate, Sen. McCain has to really lay it on the line, forget being Mr. Nice guy. He needs to go after Obama, and bring up the Dems who caused this home mortgage crisis. Sen. McCain tried to do something about it, but the Dems voted him down because they were in the pocket of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and got lots of money from them. Dem Sen.Chris Dodd got the most money and Obama was second. This is true and should be brought up. Also, the VP debate the other night, 70 million people watched. With her candor and spunk and true grit, hopefully, Sarah Palin brought more people to our side, I hope so. If you notice Sen.Joe Biden's comment about Iraq, he said Obama is going to "end the war". ( Note: Not win it.) That is the difference between the Dems. and the Republicans. We want victory, they just want to cut and run. Americans have sacrificed a lot through the years for other countries. Unlike the Russions, who enslaved whole populations as a reward to themselves, and put them behind an iron curtain, we have sacrified so much without asking for anything in return. We do appreciate gratitude though and if the Iraqi people could do something really big, something loud and vocal, something really tangible to thank President Bush and the American people, that would go a long ways toward showing good will and appreciation. I remember when the Iraqi people voted in their elections and showed their purple fingers, that was a wonderful thing to see. That made the American people feel good to see that. It wouldn't have been possible without the U.S. and our allies. Thanks to all for keeping up the good fight.

Gravatar Hameed Abid | 10.04.08 - 2:40 am |

Hameed,

I agree with you completely. You make excellent points that every American should consider.

However, history has shown that Americans' first priority when it comes to elections is the economy. When the economy is good, incumbents get reelected; when it's bad, they don't.

Although McCain isn't the incumbent, he belongs to the same party as the incumbent. Therefore, the economic panic over the last few weeks does not bode well for his chances.

Most of the mess is actually the fault of several high-profile Democrats. In order to pin this on them, McCain will have to take the gloves off and start hammering the records of people he has worked with for 20+ years. If he does not get elected, he will still have to work with those people, only now they won't like him very much. At this point, I don't know if John McCain has the guts to take that risk. This is not a failing on McCain's part, being in the Senate for a long time does that to people which is why I oppose sitting Senators running for president (they're consensus-builders rather than leaders).

Anyway, what this election hinges on is whether McCain can successfully pin the economic mess on the Democrats or at least sow seeds of doubt in voters' minds. Without that, his only hope will be Osama bin Laden releasing another threatening tape. That's the kind of thing that helps take Americans' minds off the economy.

Pay very close attention to McCain's speeches on the economy over the next few weeks. If he starts hammering on an act of Congress called the "Community Reinvestment Act" and names people like Senator Chris Dodd and Representative Barney Frank, you will know that he has indeed decided to fight tooth and nail to win.

Regardless of the outcome of our election, it is my hope that one day, the number one thing on Iraqi voters' minds is protecting their economy.

Gravatar "Anyway, what this election hinges on is whether McCain can successfully pin the economic mess on the Democrats or at least sow seeds of doubt in voters' minds."

Nonsense. This election will be decided in court, just like the 2000 election. The Stock market will totatly tank next week. The Feds will close the market when the Dow hits 8,000. By November the 4th, unemployment will be at European levels and climbing.
Obama IS NOT eligible to run for President. He is not a 'natural born' American, but a naturalized citizen. So even if he wins, He CANNOT be President. I think Biden will take over. If he is smart he will pick Hillery as his VP.

That is if by some combination of cheating and Political dirty pool, OBAMA gets more EV's then McCain/Palin. I know the polls look bad, but they looked just as bad in '00 and '04. The polls are fixed, rigged, whatever you want to call it. Watch the tend line, which shows a tie, since neither candidate has manged to break out of the margin of error.
The Economic mess will get pinned EXACTLY where the MSM wants it pinned. The MSM ONLY controls what the public sees and reads. They don't control the Courts or the internet.

[The Associated Press snuck in an article today on how important a stable and successful Iraq is to US interests.

It's funny how they forgot to give President Bush any props for leading one of the most successful military campaigns in American history -- the very successful surge in Iraq.]

Good-Bye, New York Sun

excerpt:

[The New York Sun, a daily newspaper that I’ve been affiliated with for the last four years as a columnist and a contributing editor, has ceased publication as of a couple of days ago. It simply ran out of money.

I will miss it, sorely.

As another NYSun colleague put it, “One doesn’t realize what one has until it’s gone,” adding, “It was a plucky newspaper, hitting about its weight class; it was a joy to work for such an outfit.”

I am immensely grateful for the NYSun. I must thank my good friend, Eli Lake, for suggesting that I write for the Sun, and I must thank Ira Stoll who gambled and took me on. I have deep admiration for both Ira and Eli, and I will always be in their debt for awarding me this opportunity.

I’ve had great editors who helped me write better, more disciplined commentary. I may have resented the editing at the time, but all I harbor now is appreciation and the fondest of memories.

I met a lot of you for the first time on the pages of the NYSun, which gave me a unique forum to publish some controversial views.

Over the last four years, I’ve written about ninety Op-Eds for the NYSun. I wanted to share some of them with you today. Initially, I had wanted to choose three columns that I’m particularly proud of, but have chosen 16 instead. Sorry. But it is remarkable that I was allowed so much freedom to express these ideas, and I hope to continue this tradition either here on this blog or at other Op-Ed pages.

I have a brief description of the content in brackets, and I
hope you choose and read a couple that tickle your fancy.]

aww, so sad..

eventually force me to read theirs, they have another
thing coming!!

You're engaging in wishful thinking.

First, while there is a federal judge who has ordered Obama to produce his birth certificate, it has yet to happen and Obama has filed a motion to dismiss. However, even if he is ineligible, who is the candidate, then? Biden? Hillary? What does that do to the outcome of the election?

Second, if the economy tanks next week, McCain might as well pack it up and go home to Arizona.

As far as polls, Bush was always 3-10 points ahead going into the 2004 election. Obama is up by, what, eight? The Bradley effect is only good for about 4%, so we can't count on that.

Don't get me wrong. I'm optimistic that when those Independents and Hillary Democrats get into the booth, they'll find that they just cannot pull the lever for an inexperienced left-wing radical like Obama. I'm also praying that history repeats itself in that every time the Democrats have run a left winger, they've lost.

I've also noted that the only time a Democrat has been elected president since 1964 is when the Republican had a stink on him (Watergate, 1976) or there was a third party candidate siphoning votes (Ross Perot, 1992 & 1996). There is no third party this time but there is a stink - the economy. The Democrats were hoping the war would provide the stink but, doggone it, we went and starting winning the damn thing. Fortunately for them, the economy went into crisis mode. Therefore, McCain needs to deflect that in order to win.

The recent approval of the $700 billions will stablise the Economy of the world and not only that of the The Americans.

It took a republican president named Bush to drouse the economic tsunami coming to the USA's shores.

I could not imagine OBAMA/Biden doing it. They may have some Charisma but have not got the clarity of vision.

Their call is foggy and cannot be challenged because it was deliberatley created to mislead the uninformed and naive American voters.

However, we in iraq have the greatest confidence that the true and patriotic Americans , the silent majority, would not vote in a potentially dangerous and wavring President.

It would have been like their slogan- Change. It would have been. OK let us change from being the most powerful country and economy in the world to the most meak and appologist mouse in the world. That is is exactly what Iran, North Korea and Hisbulla, the losers in Iraq and Mooky Al Sader and his pipsqeak list want.

Dear O and M

This is what we are all waiting for.

The gas supply in the hands of the private sector.

Al-Hilal CEO, Hameed Diaa Jaafar, had said in statements that the two companies would soon start producing natural gas from the Cormol oilfield in Sulaimaniya province at an initial amount of 75 million cubic feet per day, to gradually grow to 300 million cubic feet per day by the beginning of 2009.
"The two companies have concluded a series of service agreements and contracts with the Kurdistan Regional Government in April 2007 by virtue of the Strategic Alliance Protocol between the companies and the KRG," read the statement as received by Aswat al-Iraq.
"The two companies together allocated total investments of $650 million, thus becoming the largest investment project to be injected by the private sector into Iraq at present and also the largest private sector contribution in the oil & gas sphere in the country in decades," it added.
The gas supplies should be used as fuel for power generation at a capacity of 1250 megawatt from new under-construction stations near the Kurdish cities of Arbil and Sulaimaniya with the objective of providing electricity to more than four million Iraqis.
"The project should also help save $2.5 billion annually for the government budgets allocated to cover liquid fuel imports at present," the statement indicated, pointing out that the two companies are still in talks with the natural resources ministry in the KRG to develop the Kurdistan Gas City project'

Well done Iraq.

Some Arab men don't seem to be able to control themselves. Thus Arab women should wear eyeglasses made with one way mirrors so that the woman's eyes can't be seen. However, the Arab man would then see the reflection of a man's eyes in the glasses and that might arouse him more than seeing a woman's eyes.

Gravatar Dear O and M

My Brother's House in Baghdad was entered into by the American Army Patrol and was inspected for security reasons. My nephew the Actor Najim Al Rubaie has asked the interpretor,' Are you an Iraqi, he told him yes! Then he said, if you are an Iraqi you should know who I am. After recognising him, he was surprised he was living at a simple house, so he took off his head gear and started hugging him and then turned round and explained to the American Officers and men who he was. They then started shaking hands with him and were very pleased that they have met with a person of humble origin , modest and unassuming, who is a well known Iraqi patriot. Then they started taking photgraphs together at our house and went out.

Few days later, the same Captain Hanks?? came into our house and was allowed in and sat in the front room and waited for my nephew to get home, and when they he asked him what is up this time the Captain said, he found a new friend and wanted to drop bye and say, Hi? Again more commomratives Photos were taken , and they left.

So I told him to receive Captain, Hanks and his men, next time they pass by our house, And also Captain Sweeny and Commander Kurt, if he makes contact and treat them for a the best Iraqi hospitality they could find, for example, slay in theri honour, a whole Sheep- Lamb grab- feast, as treat them as our honoured guests, in appreciations for their efforts and work on behalf of our freedom and the Rule of Law , justice and better security. To say thank you for the Coalition help , liberation and training of armed forces, and their assistance in other ways to our beloved Iraq.

The Play - Jeeb Al Malik Jeebah' based on Jeeb Al Ka's Jeebah. the football chant last, when Iraq won the football cup,- which has critical acclaims in which he acts, has been published in Both English and Arabic world wide.

It shows that the people of Iraq do indeed enjoy and have freedom of expression, writings and freedom of thoughts, unlike before 2003, and the rest of the Islamic and Arab world around them, whom their writers, artists, musicians, and fine art performers and actors and actresses can perform plays without the approvals of the Censors and the Government.

It shows also Iraq is free and democratic without any reasonable doubt, and has a written Constitution regulating the behaviours of its elected Rulers the Executive Branch- who will have to be relected after the people lend them their positions for a limited period of time.

' To be free of bondage or restraint, to live under a Government based on the consent of the citizens, these are basic among all freedoms.... and this is the reason why a democracy is from every possible humane point of view the best form of Government.... What so many human beings in the modern world have failed to understand is that freedom is the greatest of all trusts.' - Ashley Montagu.

'The greatest dangers to liberty lurk in insidious encroachment by men of zeal, well meaning but without understanding.'- Justice Louis D.
Brandels.

These men I would call zombies, some of them are sadly, sitting in the Iraqi Parliament at present.

Let the people decide.

Nothing fortunate about it. The sub-prime thingie was created by Franks and Dodd mostly. Thru the CRA. The Democrats are the ones that made the loud noise that started the avalanche. Now if they started it out of stupidity or malice is something the historians will argue over.

I had a link to the Jay Cost ( Horse race blog) article on how to read a political poll. If you want to talk polls, you need to read that article first so you won't make the same mistakes the moonbats do.
For Example, if McCain has 43.9 and Obama has 48.3 with a Margin of Error of 4.5, the actual numbers are;
McCain 39.4 to 49.4
Obama 43.8 to 53.8
They are tied. The MSM doesn't get into that prolly because they don't understand it. Bear Bryant said "Never underestimate the stupidity of a reporter". He was talking about sports reporters, which are less sharp then a regular reporter ( If a tennis ball can be considered less sharp then a bowling ball), but that statement applies to all the media in a general way. I'm sure there are exceptions, although none come to mind right off hand.
Are you really going to put your trust in a vacuous woman who is paid 7 million a year based on her talent for crossing and uncrossing her legs on national TV? She looks like a genius compared to the management guy that put her behind a desk and hid her 'talent'. Now her ratings have fallen thru the cellar. Doah!
I think a Biden/Clinton ticket will win the election, even if they start the 1st of November. That wouldn't be good, but it wouldn't be the galloping cluster fuk that Obama bin Biden represents.

Hameed,

Won't it be a hoot the day that other Arabs are visiting Iraq just so they can see uncensored plays and Arab and Muslim theatrical troupes come to Baghdad so their directors can perform the plays they want without worrying about someone (read Muttawa) looking over their shoulder.

You know, the security situation is stable enough that Iraqi theater owners should be contacting famous Arab playwrights offering them just that.

yes, I will tell them to be proactive and invite the playwrites to Baghdad.

It is already happening. The Arab writers - including women- from Saudi Morroco and Syria and after this week End Egypt and the United Arab Emirates and Lebanon are already sending articels to the Iraqi Internet papers for publishing, without censorship.

As for the Iraqi writers, they are having a field day. I wish you could read Arabic. a current writer has an article about our PM whether he is fit or able to challenge the future tough events. Oh! he is not arrested or gagged either, and he never will be.

Another writer today had a go at the religious leaders and how they are the ones who are the Heathens, as they work through bribes, influence peddling and being do gooders, whilst in fact they are lining their own pockets through corrupt practices.

The PM said he, did not want 'Haramiah' plural- at the Government entities. Haramy- singular-means a thief.
..................................

Iraq and the Coalition should release the innocent prisoners at their jails. Either let them go or charge them.

There must a time limit to be approved by Parlaiment, for people to be arrested by the police and the army, for questioning, for example 35 days at the most and then released or charged.

There must be a distinction between being a terrorist and being a dissident objector.

Good to hear about those writers and their freedom of thought. It is my hope that Iraqis will look at that and understand how rare that is in the world and that it is worth all the blood and treasure spent to acquire it and that it is worth fighting and dying to preserve it. Hameed,

The coalition releases thousands of prisoners per month. After they teach them to read, give them job training and send them to remedial classes on the true message of Islam and get a family member to sign a document vouching for them.

Coalition Detainee Operations Release More Than 14,000 (10/29/08 ).

Ramadan Detainee Releases Update – Week Four (10/29/08 ).

Detainees return to society equipped with skills, education (10/26/08 ).

That first link says that the number of Iraqis held by the coalition is now down to 17,900. That may sound like a lot, but it's less than 1/1000th of the population, a pretty sorry number for an occupation but just about right for a liberation.

Gravatar Kafir and Hameed, thank you for a very interesting exchange about freedom of expression in Iraq. That is absolutely awesome!

Hameed, do artists get funding from the government? How do they raise money to put on plays and so on? Do they have patrons? Do they rely on the sales of their work and admission charges to their stage productions and so on?

I would think that relying on government funding might be only a step away from a return to government censorship. There has been a big kerfuffle here in Canada with the Conservative Party wanting to reduce government subsidies for the arts and the Liberal Party crying that the arts should be government funded.

Of course, the Liberals for years have fostered left leaning artists and artistic productions so it is small wonder that Canada's literati are primarily leftist. They know who their patrons are.

Another Radical & Close Associate of Obama's

[New evidence has emerged that Democratic presidential
candidate Barack Obama was closely associated as early
as age 25 to a key adviser to a Saudi billionaire who had
mentored the founding members of the Black Panthers.

In a videotaped interview this year on New York’s all
news cable channel NY1, a prominent African-American businessman and political figure made the curious disclosures about Obama.

Percy Sutton, the former borough president of Manhattan, off-handedly revealed the unusual circumstances about his first encounter with the young Obama.

“I was introduced to (Obama) by a friend who was raising money for him,” Sutton told NY1 city hall reporter Dominic Carter.

“The friend’s name is Dr. Khalid al-Mansour, from Texas,” Sutton said. “He is the principal adviser to one of the world’s richest men. He told me about Obama.”

Sutton, the founder of Inner City Broadcasting, said al-Mansour contacted him to ask a favor: Would Sutton write a letter in support of Obama’s application to Harvard Law School?

“He wrote to me about him,” Sutton recalled. “And his
introduction was there is a young man that has applied
to Harvard. I know that you have a few friends up there
because you used to go up there to speak. Would you
please write a letter in support of him?”

Sutton said he acted on his friend al-Mansour’s advice.]

When the liberation of Kuwait took place at the hands of Prez, Bush senior and the Iraqi army was defeated.

There was a public outcry, but was suppressed violantly by Saddam's men including the use of gas against the kurds and the drying of the marshes and the mass killings of the rebels and dissidents.

The people were bewildered why Saddam was kept in his position when he should have been arrested tried for genocide and should have been made to surrender to the Americans. The great Mrs. Thatcher UK PM wanted that and she was over ruled.

To mesmerise the Iraqi people Saddam instituted a monthly pay for all artists and actors and actresses so as to work for him and praise him through the media. Those who did not were either killed, imprisoned without trial, accused of being anti Bath party or sent to mass graves. But all plays were heavily censored and would take for ever to put on a show of any value. The speach was suppressed let alone freedom of speach. People were watched and punished over their dreams?

The poverty of those writers, producers, artists and creative men of vision who yearned for freedom and democracy, and human rights and the rule of Law was apparent and crippling. The majority of rest of the population was very poor too. The money were spent by the very few closer circle and the 170 Extravegent Palaces.

That Salary pay continued after the liberation until today. But it was and still is peanuts, probably 100, 000.00 Iraqi dinars per month, less than $100 dollars- about $3 per Day. It was not enough for one tray of eggs. Today it does not pay for much either.

The government funding such as the Arts Councilin in UK giving grants does not exist in Iraq, unless I am mistaken.

However, they- the dramatists, have been getting help from us the expatriate Iraqis through personal donations or charity functions. Some serious money such as , payments for heart surgery operations, transport, board and lodgings in India, Jordan, and Lebanon.

This play - was the first to be staged at night on the National Theatre Auditorium in Baghdad, since the liberation, as they were frightened from the Bombers..

When this Play was announced to be staged, a bomber tried to blow up the Theatre building to stop it but the security people closed all the streets leading to it for several miles.

The people the Audiance, over around two thousands walked there and filled up the place and paid to enter and watch the play.

It deals with the corrupt officials the kidnapings, the killings and murders and the lack of essential services such as water, electricity, transport, secuirty in a comic way. Hence its popular appeal.

I hope this answers your questions.

Kind regards

Dear O and M

This news item is important. The Egyptian Foreign Minister and the Minister of Oil visiting Baghdad after 18 years of boycotting it.

Now the reason I am writing about this visit is because, there is an Israeli Flag in Cairo at the Israeli embassy there. I saw it last year when I visited Cairo.

We know the damage which has been inflicted by the Iraqi parliament upon Mr. Mithal Alalousy for visiting Israel and has shaken hands with some Israelis. Although the matter is sub judice, I am not at all happy at the Hypocracy of all the Iraqi Parliamentarians , including the Kurdish Block at the Parliament who supported the Parliamentary motion,- they were frightened of being accused of harbouring Israeli Interests in Kurdistan- which could be viewed as illegal by the Fedral Court in due Course.

Egypt has helped Iraq alot. We grew up watching the Egyptian artists , films, plays, and singers and we read its Arabic poetry and Literature and we enjoyed their comedies and stories as young kids. 'Egypt is UMM Al Dunia' we all love it. The mother of the whole world. Yet its rulers, could see the benefits of not waging wars with their last Egyptian to liberate Palestine. The Former Sadat -God bless his soul, was a great Egyptian Patriot who went bravely to Tel Aviv and spoke with the Israeli parliamentarians peace which lead to the peace treaty thirty years ago.

Egypt has benefitted tremendously since then. Foreign and Arab, and Egyptian Investments poured in, tourism- millions came to it and still do, technology transfer - engineering and architecture, and town planning, from the advanced nations, improvements in Industry, Banking, Insurance, Oil, Gas, Cultural and litrature aspects, Agriculture and the Internet, Computer Technology, Transport, Roads Engineering, Housing complexes, Landscape Design, Communications and Airports, Railways, Textiles and Ports. The list is endless.

So what is Iraq waiting for ? Does Iraq need the permission from Iran before it makes moves to improve its relations with the rest of the world?

That what it will mean when they end their declartion os state of war with Israel?

We need investments to build the country and in order to get it, we must first recognise and sign a peace treaty with Israel, in my view, but there again I could be wrong.

Have we not got one free and sensible Iraqi son brave enough and courageous enough to say, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Let us cut the crap, let us normalise our relationship with the Israelis, and help the Iraqis with that action as did the Jordanians and Egyptians who helped their people so many decades ago?

The Palestinians are very capable of looking after themselves. They are now politically mature men and women who can make deals with Israel alone.

Kind regards

Dear O and M

This picture of the an Iraqi train is great, especially as one of its passengers is disabled on a wheelchair.

The trains should have, food and drinks and its toilets facilities should be upgraded to cater for the disbled passngers and its doors and windows should be made safe and weatherproof.

The 7-15 Dollars charge is not enough for a journey of 500 KM. and the train service should preferably be privatised as soon as possible.

The Railways lines and authorities are out of touch and out of date and should be scrapped and mothbaled and turned over to the Meusums and enthusiasts.

The trains appear to have reached their end of useful lives and should be replaced.

Even Saudi Arabia has better trains than Iraq.

Kind regards

Dear O and M

The ordinary Iraqis are now fed up with the religious - Shiites abd Sunnies alike, men who control the wealth of the country.

They have no knowledge about the social, economic and political lives of the Iraqis and are the ones who are the thieves rubbing Iraq of its wealth.

They claim they are working for God and in reality they are lining their own pockets and those who work with them.

The majrity of the Iraqis are now determined to vote them out in the next elections.

Many praise the North of Iraq as their leaders, although some are corrupt too, are not religious but secualr, and Kurdistan is well managed and developing very well indeed, much better than the rest of Iraq.

Some of the debates and posts here are very revealing indeed.

Iraq should not be ruled by the religious elite, ( when these ruled Europe, europe was in ruins ) and should be ruled by the Iraqi secularists and technocrates who know its politics and have a manifesto to serve the people of Iraq, and not themselves and their outside masters.

The freed debate is very healthy and very revealing.

Thanks God and the Amercians for this freedom of thoughts and expressions.

Kind regards

Democrats Shouldn't Coddle Chávez

excerpt:

[Last month Mr. Chávez announced that he would buy 24 K-8 aircraft from China to "train fighter pilots." Jane's reports that total orders for Russian weaponry now top $4 billion. As documents captured in March from the rebel group FARC -- aka the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia -- revealed, Mr. Chávez has also used his windfall of petrodollars to support terrorism.

[snip]

The strongest immediate signal the U.S. could send Mr. Chávez and Latin American democracies is unequivocal support for Colombia. President Bush has tried to do that but the effort is being undermined by Congressional Democrats.

[snip]

If Mr. Chávez thinks he can go nuclear with no consequences it is because he understands the divided allegiances in Washington. One way to solve that problem would be for Democrats to come out and say whose side they are on.]

Gravatar The Muslim Brotherhood Project

The Muslim Brotherhood Project

The Betrayal

excerpt:

[What Western intelligence authorities know about THE PROJECT begins with the raid of a luxurious villa in Campione, Switzerland on November 7, 2001. The target of the raid was Youssef Nada, director of the Al-Taqwa Bank of Lugano, who has had active association with the Muslim Brotherhood for more than 50 years and who admitted to being one of the organization’s international leaders. The ARAB Muslim Brotherhood, regarded as the oldest and one of the most important Islamist movements in the world, was founded by Hasan al-Banna in 1928 and dedicated to the credo, “Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. Qur’an is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope.

The raid was conducted by Swiss law enforcement at the request of the White House in the initial crackdown on terrorist finances in the immediate aftermath of 9/11. U.S. and Swiss investigators had been looking at Al-Taqwa’s involvement in money laundering and funding a wide range of Islamic terrorist groups, including Al-Qaeda, HAMAS (the Palestinian affiliate of the Muslim Brotherhood), the Algerian GIA, and the Tunisian Ennahdah.

Included in the documents seized during the raid of Nada’s Swiss villa was a 14-page plan written in Arabic dated December 1, 1982, which outlines a 12-point strategy to “establish an Islamic government on earth” — identified as The Project.

According to testimony given to Swiss authorities by Nada, the unsigned document was prepared by “Islamic researchers” associated with the ARAB Muslim Brotherhood.

What makes THE PROJECT so different from the standard “Death of America! Death to Israel!” and “Establish the global caliphate!” islamist rhetoric is that it represents a flexible, multi-phased, long-term approach to the “cultural invasion” of the West. Calling for the utilization of various tactics, ranging from immigration, infiltration, surveillance, propaganda, protest, deception, political legitimacy and terrorism, THE PROJECT has served for more than two decades as the ARAB Muslim Brotherhood’s “Master Plan”.

As can be seen in a number of examples throughout Europe — including the political recognition of parallel Islamist government organizations in Sweden, the recent “cartoon” jihad in Denmark, the Parisian car-burning intifada last November, and the 7/7 terrorist attacks in London — the plan outlined in “The Project” has been overwhelmingly successful.

Rather than focusing on terrorism as the sole method of group action, as is the case with Al-Qaeda, in perfect postmodern fashion the use of terror falls into a multiplicity of options available to progressively infiltrate, confront, and eventually establish Islamic domination over the West.]

The Mainstream Media: Islamist Facilitators

excerpt:

[I have previously discussed the harm of our government’s enabling of Islamists (like CAIR, MPAC, MAS, MSA, or ISNA) in the United States and how the governmental endorsement of Islamists publicly empowers them and allows them to dodge their responsibility of countering Islamism as an ideology. This order of magnitude is greater in impact when it concerns the media’s inability to wage the debate of the “struggle for the soul of Islam”. Stories about Islam and Muslims have been more and more ubiquitous since 9-11 and now are actually commonplace. Yet, the actual debate within the Muslim community has barely begun. Where’s the disconnect? Look no further than the Islamist enablers in the media.]

Obama and the Attempt to
Destroy the Second Amendment

excerpt:

[During Obama’s tenure, the Joyce Foundation board planned and implemented a program targeting the Supreme Court. The work began five years into Obama’s directorship, when the Foundation had experience in turning its millions into anti-gun “grassroots” organizations, but none at converting cash into legal scholarship.

The plan’s objective was bold: the judicial obliteration of the Second Amendment.

Joyce’s directors found a vulnerable point. When judges cannot rely upon past decisions, they sometimes turn to law review articles. Law reviews are impartial, and famed for meticulous cite-checking. They are also produced on a shoestring. Authors of articles receive no compensation; editors are law students who work for a tiny stipend.

In 1999, midway through Obama’s tenure, the Joyce board voted to grant the Chicago-Kent Law Review $84,000, a staggering sum by law review standards. The Review promptly published an issue in which all articles attacked the individual right view of the Second Amendment.]

He appealed to engineer the veil of regulatory bodies to visit the province of Qadisiyah and found collapsed and service projects that consumed millions of dollars.

As saying.

For his part, Hassan said Midn Plasm of Baghdad said he had heard several times the current Finance Minister Bayan Jabr Zubaidi, who is the Supreme Islamic Council in 2004 when he was housing minister says good camp in the capital Baghdad, the largest gathering will include residential.

In the view of Plasm What happened is simply that the decline in services has become a large number of citizens Itrgm the days of Saddam Hussein in terms of services, implementation and oversight.

An investigator in the integrity declined to be named, told Elaph that the files of several pending investigation by the special waste of public money but are being delayed for political pressure.

He said.

The press reports about the flight of the brother of the governor of Basra belonging to the Islamic Virtue Party to another country in possession of about 600 million dollars through the State of Kuwait in cooperation with Kuwaiti security officer.
Waili responded to such accusations as a political settling of accounts between him and the United Iraqi Alliance, which was Fadhila party, one of its components and left more than a year ago.

Amer Alausi finds that the failure of the political process in Iraq caused by religious parties control the Iraqi Sunni and Shiite Islamic Dawa Party, such as the Supreme Council of Islamic Party (Muslim Brotherhood), who removed all the figures and secular parties on the Iraqi arena and the Governing Tafrdoa according to their own liking and a Matkdathemen adding that religion or place of the Whole Enter the church and in politics.

The Alausi that most Iraqis today unanimously to boycott the elections if he remained the same religious parties is the dominant candidate.

It differs in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, which includes the governorates of Arbil, Dohuk and Sulaymaniyah, where the two main Kurdish Patriotic Union of Kurdistan led by Iraqi President Jalal Talabani and the Kurdistan Democratic Party led by President of Kurdistan region Massoud Albrzni it appears the Islamic Union of Kurdistan in the development of the criticism is far from affecting the local Kurdish government today Headed by Barzani, nephew of Nnigervan because of the financial and administrative corruption as World magazine that published Politks American Review, which describes (Sam Barnen) colleague in the global security agenda the status of Strategic and International Studies in Washington, Kurdish leader Massoud Barzani that Yasser Arafat granted Iraqi Kurdistan, where his influence and his influence The tribe, as it confirms that the opposition parties, the Islamic-rooted in the province of Kurdistan, which is immune to the corruption case began its rise in the Kurdish political scene, and it is far from the absence of any rescheduling of democratic elections in the region is likely even if elections were held in the province, the results Will advance, as is Sam Barnen.

But the pessimistic outlook of the Islamic parties prevail all of Iraq's cities today, known as the Kurdistan region is not encouraging for the Islamist parties, where control of the tribe. Thank you for your note.I hope you stay safe and well wherever, you are.
All the best.

Thank you Kathy.

Perhaps this may remind the Americans of how their patriotic fathers thought;

Founders' Quote "Our own Country's Honor, all call upon us for a vigorous and manly exertion, and if we now shamefully fail, we shall become infamous to the whole world. Let us therefore rely upon the goodness of the Cause, and the aid of the supreme Being,in whose hands Victory is, to animate and encourage us to great and noble Actions - The Eyes of all our Countrymen are now upon us, and we shall have their blessings, and praises, if happily we are the instruments of saving them from the Tyranny mediated against them. Let us therefore animate and encourage each other, and shew the whole world, that a Freeman contending for Libert yon his own ground is superior to any slavish mercenary on earth." -- George Washington (General Orders, 2 July 1776)

That says it all as far I am concerned. If the USA pulls out of Iraq, for whatever appears to be plausible and expedient reasons, but with hidden aganedas of the prepetrators pulling the woll over their own people's eyes, then the credibility of the USA at home and abroad will be zilch.

The USA, must not under any circustances, agree to a pull out timetable as Iran, Syria, Hezboallah and Taliban - Al Qaeda and Muqtada Al Sader want.

The matrix that is guranteeing peace and reconcilliation in Iraq is the American Armed Forces and Fighter Aircrafts, Tanks and Humphies etc. and now the Hospitals, saving Iraqi Lives after the car bombs and suicide bombers.

To leave Iraq in the next few years, will be a hell of an error of judgement, which will damage USA's name and reputation and long term interests, for good, in my view.

So Next month do not elect the team that will take you down this dangerous and irresponsible path, please?

Kind regards

Dear O and M

The global financial market turmoil has hit the Arab shares and losses were reported in Billions of dollars too in the stck markets, In cairo Alexandria, Riyadh, Kuwait, UAE and others.

Let us hope they learn to be less Cocky and behave responsibly with regards to their responsibilties to man kind.

The Arabs should produce more Oil and reduce the Price even further so that the future winter bills of the Cold World will be less and be manageable.

It costs less than 10 Dollars to produce one barrel of Oil. I am not a socialist, but I think The profit made by the Arabs and Iran and Russians is grotesque.

As for the Russians, I read today they are trying to mend ties with the West after so many investors have left. Between 8th August-19th Septmber, they pulled out approx. $56.7 Billions from Russia

It is clear they underestimated the value of being peaceful and less militaristic.

The Georgia Invasion was a big mistake.
................................
No doubt I hope people will listen to me when I say, hit Iran asap. It declared an economic war on USA and the West with the support of Russia by threatening the Arabs with destruction if they make peace with Israel or increase the Oil production as requested by Bush and Brown and others at the Saudi summit meeting.

If Iran will purchase the S 300 defence equipments from Russia the opportunity to hit them will be lost and very difficult and costly, if Conventional weapons will be used.

Many times on this blog. I said, as Iraqis we know them well, talking to the Iranians and offering incentives for them to stop their nuclear dream will be a total waste of time. For the only language they understand is brute and raw power/Force.

The Syrians army and their proxies are alleged to be Cowards anyway. They will run away as soon as the bullets start flying.

Dear All

This news item confirms Obama's policy on Iraq as irresponsible and frankly provides a lot of amusements.

I do not know where he had been during the Invasions of Iran and Kuwait by Saddam Hussain?

I do not know where he had been when Saddam gassed the Kurds at Hallbjah, in Kurdistan?

I do not know where he had been when 25 Million Iraqis were prisoners at their own country without trials?

I do not know how much he knows or he cares about Human Rights in the USA and Iraq?

The 9/11 attack was by people who do not care about human rights of the American people. These same people are now supported and harboured by Iran.

I do not know how many mass graves he knows about in the south and middle of Iraq.

I do know if he knows how many UN resolutions were given the V sign by Saddam?

It would seem he does not know he does not know.

To suggest that the Iraqi Liberation was a mistake is the height of arrogance and selfish introverted view, by anyone including that of Obama. Lieberman is right , he is dangerous to America, Israel, Iraq and the rest of the world.

The world economy turmoil was caused by Iran threateneing the Arabs with destruction if they sign a peace treaty with Israel or produce more Oil to stave off the Collapse of the world's economies.

Iran had declared an economic war on the USA and the free world and that is the result we warned the world about few weeks ago on this blog.

The Soup Kitchens and the depression world wide is not the fault of Bush/Blair, it is the fault of the greedy Oil producers and companies such as Iran, Russia and the frightened and intimidated Arab Countries plus Venzuela.

The transfer of wealth to Opec and Russia which we discussed here was a huge chunk taken from the world markets's liquidity and was a disaster, perpetrated by Iran and supported by Russia. The first and the second Oil producers in the world, if I am not mistaken. May be Saudi too.

The Hamas and Hezboullah of Palestine-Iranian proxies - declared that it was the Jews' fault? How stupid and naive can one get? I say NONsense. It is the fault of the Iranians/Russians.

History and the future events will support this view. Watch the space.

Some cannot see the wood for the trees.

What do your ITM readers think?

PBS will conduct the first VP debate this Friday night. We do not need Joe Biden to face the results of this poll in favor of Palin on that night. Please vote...really takes only a few seconds. Thanks, Jeanne

"Ladies and gentlemen", this takes "literally" 15 seconds.

PBS is doing a poll which asks if Palin is qualified to be VP. The right wing has organized a yes campaign--and unbelievably, the "yes" is at the moment winning.

Once you have, please pass this along...RIGHT AWAY!

*******************

It seems that PBS was supporting NOW's efforts to endorse Barack Obama by giving them a platform for push-polls.

http://www.pbs.org/now/polls/pol...s/poll- 435.html

and then they thought better of it.

http://www.pbs.org/now/palin-poll.html

and other "news" organizations did it, too, and haven't re-thought.

excerpt:

What are other media organizations doing? CNN.com does exactly what we had been doing—their polls allow multiple votes. The website of the newspaper USA Today also uses polls, called "USA TODAY Snapshot", but it employs the "cookie" approach to restrict multiple voting.

Gravatar Hello Kafir: RE 10.08.08 8:44 a.m. Thanks for the video, it is great. Thank you for reminding me: Diamonds are good too. Well, I can truthfully say I never met a diamond I didn't like. LOL !!! But seriously, I think Sen. McCain did okay last night. Personally, I wish he would have "gone for the jugular", but maybe the "town hall meeting" format didn't lend itself to that. Hopefully, next time all the truth about Obama will come out. Yes, he is a flowery, impressive orator with soaring rhetoric and pretty words that can seduce a population. That is true. But, in his own words, you can put lipstick on a pig, and it is still a pig. He still has a bonafide history of consorting with radicals, unrepentent terrorists, and seedy, unsavory organizations like ACORN. He was ACORN's lawyer for God's sake!! And now ACORN is trying to steal the election with fraud in many of our States. Are these the type of people we want with a key to the White House? I don't think so.

This guy appears to be yet another clown who does not know his ass from his elbow.

He was first sent there and refused permission by the Iranians. If it was me I should have told them keep your bag of chips, I am not coming. What an Insult?

It is a shot at diplomacy from a Naive fellow, who was not elected as a free individual but as part of a list, based on religion and the quota stupid system which entrusted Al Sader's list too.

He would not be elected again, I would hasten to add, as he, like all others who came on the back of being Godley will disappear next year.
God willing.

I believe it is an attempt to be seen as ' Consulations with an interested interfering neighbour,'.

The Iranians calls this security agreement as ' a black mark, and shameful on the history of Iraq'.

Having failed by persauding they have now started taunting. The failure sign.

They are very good in being over aggressive, negative, ineffectual or generally disagreeable people who seem to enjoy making the Iraqis' lives difficult.

They should mind their own Business and deal with their poor and unemployed and shoeless police and army.

Is it any wonder the Iraqi Parliament is such a useless instrument when guys like this joker chair it?

I hope I replied to your question.

Gravatar Hello All: Here is a good quote from Rush Limbaugh: "What do Barack Obama and Osama bin Laden have in common? They both have friends who bombed the Pentagon."

Gravatar I want to make a little observation, but first of all I want to make this comment:
As high as the stakes are in this US presidential election, I expect for it to be a nail biter all the way through the early morning hours of November 5. The spin is unbelievable from the left wing.

That being said, now hear this observation: Yesterday my wife and I decided to take a drive, just to relax and ease our mind. The fall colors are at their max and the mountains here in Colorado are soooo beautiful. We drove about 100 miles and went through several towns. Colorado is one of those states that the polls say is very closely divided between McCain and Obama. The polls give Obama a bit of a lead. Here's the observation. I didn't see as many political signs as I have in the past. I saw quite a few McCain/Palin signs, but no Obama signs at all that I can remember. I saw a couple of Obama bumper stickers that I can remember, but I don't remember a single Obama yard sign.

Gravatar Tonight Bill O'Reilly was giving both candidates hell for failing to rail about the mortgage crisis and failing to swear to prosecute all the "bad guys."

In my opinion, both candidates have shown the good sense to support the legislation, and then step back and hope it works. A President has very little control over the economy, and neither of them have overpromised. This is a good thing.

Special mention to these Iraqi Jewish people who kept the flame of their love to Iraq through, the Iraqi Jewish accent-language, Iraqi customs, food, drinks and songs and dances and of course poetry and literature and the arts. Including the Ineriors of their homes and the furniture and pictures.

New Year's Greetings to you all, wherever you landed in the world.

Dear O and M

Now this is an importnat development and i shows freedom of speech and association in Iraq is alive and well.

There is a new movement established which asking that the current leadership in parts of Kurdistan should resign and go as it is mixing between the three Separate entities, the executive, the judicial and the law makers.

They accuse them of corruption and controlling the awarding of contracts for public services and other matters.

They want democracy and change.

Good luck.

Gravatar Come on everyone. Rally the troops. We have been through a lot and we have a long ways to go. This ain't a done deal yet. McCain supporters in Michigan aren't giving up, and neither am I. In the end, I believe this election will come down to a battle of good versus evil. Sen. John McCain has shown by actual example that he puts Country First. Obama wants to wave a white flag, apologize for America like he did when he was in Europe, and sell out the White House to a bunch of left wing loonies. I am sure Hanoi Jane Fonda will be one of the first on the guest list. She is cronies with these Code Pink anti-war activists. Birds of a feather flock together. All of our brave military forces and veterans out there: Remember that he had the chance in Germany to visit our wounded troops. He had been invited and was expected to do so, but he declined because he couldn't take his entourage and turn it into a photo op. Don't ever forget that. If ever he showed his true colors, that was the time. Sen Obama has sat out every vote that was important, has sided with lunatics and radicals, has helped fund and organize totally dangerous, anti-American nuts. This ACORN organization is really scary. They are trying to steal the election, especially in the swing States, where the election will be really close. They have registered approx. one and half million votes, a lot of them fraudulent. Some people are registering their cats, also using false names, the Dallas Cowboys football team's names, etc.. All of this, an all out effort to get Obama elected. This is rediculous. In Texas, at least in the city where I live, we vote in our precinct where our name is shown on the rolls, we show our voter registration ID, and our name is highlighted on the list, showing we voted. One time I showed up real early on election day to vote (for Pres. Bush)and I was lucky because I got to see the poll workers raise their hands and be sworn in, to do their best job and to do it honorably. What ever happened to this kind of honor? I guess in some places, and with some people, honor doesn't mean anything. Well, I love Mickey Mouse and Mary Poppins, but when they "vote" and cancel my vote and the votes of my friends and family, that isn't right.

Dear O and M

According to this report Iraq will need 2.5 millions housing units by 2015.

Now with the government's full of maladministration and corruption, it will be impossible to achieve.

However, the Strategy could be as follows:-

1- The government will give land to developers free. on Conditions that they build schools or health centres and the government will run these. Also to allocate a percentage for public- use.

2- That all future plans should be to include affordable house units to be run by Housing Associations like they have in UK.

3- The use of private Finance initiative ( PFI) where the government will enter into an agreement to rent the buildings, built by the private sector for an agreed period. Prelet agreements to enable them to raise the necessary funds from the private Banks.
4- The government should undertake to take over the running and maintenance of the roads and other public services.
5- The government will allow developers to sell plots of lands with planning permsions for multi storey buildings, flats , offices, shopping Malls, Police stations, and health and town Centre etc. etc.
6- The government should not act as contractors or builders. It is not their jobs and must help with financial grants those developers who will build for the use of low income groups as well as the open market.
7- The Government should provide all the infrastructure and leave the private sector free hand.
7- If they continue to act as they have been for the past three or more decades, they will fail.

Kind regards

I have absolutely no idea how the election will turn out, but now that the Repubs have put an end to the potential development of a Sarah Palin cult of personality and the PUMAs have quieted down, and the voter fraud by Obama's former client is coming to the fore, there's something funny happening.

What's odd, really odd, is the reported movement in some polls in battleground states for no reason that I can tell. It suggests that either a different source of information is at play, or the polls are corrupted.

We've already seen some really weird poll results due to the play of Ron Paul supporters, and I got an email that suggests the Obama supporters have decided to play the same game. We already know that some polls are blatantly unscientific, through self-selection or push-poll type questions.

My cr@p detector is buzzing. There's a whiff of something in the air, and it isn't the excitement that should accompany a growing consensus. Indeed, the Obama supporters I have observed aren't thrilled, they're angry. They're mad at John McCain for being a smart and capable campaigner, at Sarah Palin for being a quintessential feminist fireball, and at all the rest of us for failing to swoon over their fantastical, unaccomplished sock puppet.

Flop sweat has a smell, too.

Gravatar One of the things I love about blogs: you can sometimes get the backstory in the comments.

If you want to know why the Democrats aren't taking this presidential election at a walk, go here,

http:// gatewaypundit.blogspot.co...h.html#comments

and get acquainted with former Lt. Col. Allen West.

Americans aren't racist. They like outstanding candidates and will take them wherever they find them. Republican voters in particular have been asking for outstanding minority candidates.

Barack Obama's problem isn't that he's black, it's that he's not yet shown himself to be outstanding. With enough preparation, he can give a good speech. With enough preparation, he has learned to hold himself in a debate. But anybody who has to rely on his own presidential campaign as evidence of his "experience" is pathetic.

[The single constant in the eternal election remains the media, whose activist role no one will seriously dispute. To point out the prevailing (with honorable exceptions) double standard of reporting so favorable to Mr. Obama by now feels superfluous -- much like talking about the weather. The same holds true for all those reports pointing to Mr. Obama's heroic status outside the United States -- not to mention the cascade of press analyses warning that if he fails to win election, the cause will surely be racism.

None of this means that the media's role will go unremembered -- who will forget MSNBC news, voice of the Obama campaign? Never has a presidential election produced more fodder for the making and breaking -- or tainting -- of reputations.]

Barack Obama has gone through his whole life, putting down our country, utilizing all the wonderful opportunities available from our great country, while subversively using his community organizing talents to under-cut our country and our way of life. He has endorsed and supported and funded dangerous radicals. He has never supported our country, even his wife said she was never proud of our country until now that her husband is running for Pres. Foreign Policy in the Second Debate,
and Unanswered Questions

excerpt:

[1-What was the nature of the enemy that the United States military faced (and I believe has already defeated) in Iraq? What were the enemy’s goals, and who were its leaders?

Ending this war presumes that one would negotiate such an end with the opposing side. Neither presidential candidate has spelled out to the American people who this opposing side is supposed to be. America’s most tenacious and successful military foes in the last five years have been Abu Musaab al-Zarqawi and his acolytes. The ideology, and goals, they espouse are even more radical that those articulated by traditional jihadist leaders such as Osama Bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri. The guerilla tactics and use of technology pioneered by the Zarqawists, as well as their novel recruitment and fundraising practices, will set its mark on world-wide jihad for a long time to come. Zarqawi’s ideological mutations—especially in regards to anti-Shia sectarianism—have already been adopted by other jihadists and have filtered into the Middle Eastern mainstream.

[snip]

2-Where do the jihadists go to after Iraq?

My short answer is Syria and Saudi Arabia.

Afghanistan is a regression for jihadists. The fight in Iraq placed them deep within the heart of the Middle East, where they’ve always wanted to be: close enough to hit Israel, and close enough to topple their hated regimes. After Falloujah, after the ‘Islamic State of Iraq,’ can the jihadists, and especially the newly radicalized ones, be expected to hike back to the caves of the Hindu Kush?

[snip]

3-How can Iraq be prepared and groomed to become America’s ally in facing emerging challenges in the Middle East?

This is a question about what will be America’s ‘Worst-Case’ contingency plan over the next 10 to 15 years in the Middle East. U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, Ryan Crocker, recently made comments ( Sept. 28 ) that mark a complete break with the foreign policy and intelligence bureaucratic view of the Middle East: a democratic and stable Iraq may represent a dramatic and historic shift in the region, and America would be able to take credit for it.

Most of today’s Iraq analysis presupposes that Iraq is in tatters and the best one can hope for is to prevent it from completely unraveling. Such thinking was reflected in the panic that engulfed Iraq-watchers when Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki took the gamble of smashing the Iran-supported Shia militants across Iraq’s south and in Baghdad ( March - June 2008 ). Many narratives were conjured up to explain why Maliki’s gambit turned out to be so successful—almost all of these narratives were dismissive in tone. The Iraqi Army has emerged from this test far more confident, and much more agile.

It is time to begin asking ‘What can Iraq do for America?’]

believe i once said mark my words..
"Iraq will be saving US some day!!"

albeit when the time comes i most likely will
have my wings so to speak, i still believe it..

Thanks for the link! The PUMAs are getting zero attention from the MSM, so it's hard to tell what role they will play on election day. I'm glad to see they are alive and kickin'.

I've been stumbling across a lot of people referring to themselves as "former" Democrats and I wonder if the polls are masking an effect: If the people who answer polls have made their decision, and if their party identification has shifted, the polls will minimize their answers, because a Republican's vote in a poll counts for less than a Demorat's vote.

I wonder if anybody has tried to get at this possibility?

I'm for re-alignment.

Viva lipstick-wearers for McCain.

Marking Second Anniversary, ‘Islamic
State of Iraq’ Cites ‘Accomplishments’

excerpt:

[TRANSLATION, ANALYSIS, OPINION:

Let’s be a little crude about this: the jihadists often employ sex as a marketing tool—seventy two virgins and all that—so it may be useful to couch the significance of this video by weighing the value of its ‘sexiness.’ In vulgar terms, the Islamic State of Iraq was conjured up to be the wet dream of worldwide jihad, but it ended up being as unsatisfying, and embarrassing, for the jihadists as an instance of premature ejaculation.

[snip]

But before that, let’s delve into the meat-and-potatoes segment of the video; after all, at this point, we’re only 6 minutes into the 75 minute presentation.

There isn’t much that is new here: it is a rehash of propaganda points that the jihadists have made before. I haven’t seen every single video they’ve ever produced (these may number in the high hundreds) but I assume that most of the original footage had been released at earlier dates. The video relies heavily on the audio speeches of Abu Omar al-Baghdadi to give it structure. To date, al-Baghdadi has released twelve speeches since his debut in December 2006.

Naturally, the first batch of accomplishments that are cited fall under the category of imposing shari’ah law, or Islamic law. Near and dear to the heart of the puritans is stamping out shrine worship and other forms of folk rituals, so it is unsurprising that the video commences with footage of shrines being demolished by bulldozers.

[snip]

WHAT YOU NEED TO REMEMBER:

-World-wide jihadists took the project of the Islamic State of Iraq very seriously; it was arguably their most important undertaking.

-The Islamic State of Iraq has never been thoroughly investigated or reported upon by serious journalistic outlets in the West.

-The U.S. military has never publicly matched its casualties against the claims of responsibility made the Islamic State of Iraq and its precursors, the 'Monotheism and Jihad Group' and 'Al-Qaeda in Iraq'. If it does so, then it will be clear that America’s most tenacious and successful military foes, in Iraq and beyond, have been the Zarqawist jihadists.

-The manifesto of the Islamic State of Iraq, the Elam al-anam book, is yet to be translated from Arabic into English and made publicly available.

-The American public is still unclear as to the ideology, identity and aims of the main enemy it faced in Iraq.]

You could be citing to pay dirt. Jack Cashill smells a rat in the tone, word usage, and grammatical structure of "Dreams From My Father," not to mention the stunning production of a publishable manuscript after long delay by someone with no significant prior publications.

http://www.americanthinker.com/ 2...my_fathe_1.html

excerpts:

In my career in advertising and publishing, I have reviewed the portfolios of a thousand professional writers, all of them crowded with writing samples, but only a handful of these writers would have been capable of having a written a book as stylish as Dreams. I have also written a book on intellectual fraud, Hoodwinked, and examined any number of bogus biographies that excited the literary left to the point of complicity, Edward Said's and Rigoberta Menchu's prominent among them, Menchu winning a Nobel Prize for hers. Obama's ascent seems to follow a century-old pattern. ...

I bought Bill Ayers' 2001 memoir, Fugitive Days, for reasons unrelated to this project. As I discovered, he writes surprisingly well and very much like "Obama." In fact, my first thought was that the two may have shared the same ghostwriter. Unlike Dreams, however, where the high style is intermittent, Fugitive Days is infused with the authorial voice in every sentence. What is more, when Ayers speaks, even off the cuff, he uses a cadence and vocabulary consistent with his memoir. One does not hear any of Dreams in Obama's casual speech.

Obama's memoir was published in June 1995. Earlier that year, Ayers helped Obama, then a junior lawyer at a minor law firm, get appointed chairman of the multi-million dollar Chicago Annenberg Challenge grant. In the fall of that same year, 1995, Ayers and his wife, Weatherwoman Bernardine Dohrn, helped blaze Obama's path to political power with a fundraiser in their Chicago home.

In short, Ayers had the means, the motive, the time, the place and the literary ability to jumpstart Obama's career. And, as Ayers had to know, a lovely memoir under Obama's belt made for a much better resume than an unfulfilled contract over his head.

****************

I do a lot of writing and editing for a living. Jack Cashill is right about being able to detect "an authorial voice" in a person's writing. It is something that rings loud and clear to a person accustomed to looking for such things.

I would, however, posit another possible ghostwriter: Bernadine Dohrn. She was in a position to do a lot of editing for both men, and she's also a "law" professor.

Gravatar DagneyT 10.10.08 4:53 pm, I am with you. The way these liberal groups shook down the banking industry to pressure them to give risky loans is criminal really. They wanted low income people to have homes, regardless if they could afford them or not. Reminds me of the tactics of the Mafia, going around strong-arming people. Where is Elliot Ness when we need him? LOL !! I heard someone say it right: A lot of people were buying homes when they should have been renting. Well, to own your own home is the American dream. Too bad, these people got rooked into buying homes they couldn't afford, and when their dreams went down in smoke, they took mine with them. A lot of these homes were bought by illegal aliens, and when they couldn't keep up with the payments, they just went back to Mexico and left us holding the bag. Also, Dem. Congressman Barney Franks had an affair/relationship with a MAN in the Freddie/Fannie organization, I don't remember which one. I heard about it on the O'Reilly Factor. Who knows how this influenced things? But no one touches the story, no one talks about it because Barney Franks is an openly gay, Dem/liberal. Can you imagine if he were a Republican? I hope someone starts investigating all of this mess. My profit sharing plan thru my employment took a big hit with the stock market, and my personal 401-K took a big dive too. EEEK!! For now, my retirement plans for next year are on hold. I could have retired earlier this year and walked away with all of my money. But noooooooo. I had to be dedicated to my job and keep on working. Oh well, at least I still have a job. I guess I better count my blessings. But I sure do want accountability over all this. It is so odd how it is all hitting the fan right now, in the months right before the election.

Gravatar Hello All,

I've got a general question here.

My girlfriend is doing a project for her masters about modern Iraqi refugees. She needs some help finding material, preferably video. It would be great if the source was from the Iraqi perspective.

2008 Source material on Iraqi refugees seems like slim pickings right now.

Gravatar C.Jordan. O&M and Mr. Abid would be great to help you if they had the time ,if not, they could probably connect you with great sorces. It would be wonderful if your girlfriend could share the finished project with us here on ITM.I love hearing from the iraqi people. And the students such as yourself. The future of both nations.Good luck to your girlfriend.

Gravatar Hello There: I heard an interesting comment, which is: Obama couldn't get any kind of a federal job, because with his background, he couldn't pass the background check. Doesn't anyone care about this? There are big chunks of his past that we don't know anything about. Shouldn't someone investigate this? I mean, he isn't running for dog catcher. This is only the HIGHEST OFFICE IN THE LAND !! Shouldn't the FBI check him out? Or are they in the tank too. Scary thought.

Gravatar C. Jordan | 10.11.08 - 6:53 pm |

I googled "Iraqis Michigan" and came up with a lot of links about Iraqi refugees in Michigan. Perhaps you could contact the Dearborn and Detroit chambers of commerce or city halls and ask about Iraqi refugee organizations.

Gravatar Kafir & jackie j,

Thank you for your thoughts. I knew
this would be the place to ask. My girlfriend is not a reader of this blog, so I'm helping her get some solid information.

Mainly what she is looking for is the story of locally displaced Iraqis. The people who couldn't leave the region, and are having trouble getting back to their old homes or finding new homes.

On another note:

Dear Mr. Jordan

Please contact me via Omar.

My nephew and his family were told to leave their house in a certain area controlled by Al Mahdi Army. They refused on my advice, but sadly their son was working for the Ministry of Interior and was very good and loyal at his job was kidnapped. Thye asked me for payment to release him, I refused. We put enormous pressure on them and they ruffed him up and tortured him and then released him.

They left their home and went to rent another place and lost a lot of money in the process.

If you wish to have detailed, names, palces, etc. information please let me know.

Gravatar Follow up on the fake birth certificate on Obama's "Stop the Smears" website:

http://israelinsider.ning.com/fo...3ATopic% 3A10021

excerpt:

A lifelong Democrat who has held political office and been a committeeman, Philip Berg, has brought suit over the real questions raised by the absence of a valid Obama birth certificate. His narrative of the various questions Obama has refused to answer is devastating. Graphics and sound are well-deployed to avoid tedium as factual data is conveyed in a way that allows viewers to absorb it. When he contrasts Obama's behavior when challenged (use perfectly valid legal technicalities to delay) with John McCain's full disclosure of all documentary evidence under a similar challenge (remember the flap over his birth in the Panama Canal Zone? -- who raised those questions, anyway?), there is no doubt in a viewer's mind that there is something seriously wrong here.

The christians Iraqis in Mosul are being killed and injured by the extremists begots in Iraq.

Over 1000 families have fled Mosul. This is tragic.

The Iraqis authprities, both Kurds and Arabs should protect the Iraqi Chritians with all their mights, otherwise Iraq will be populated by animals and zombies parading as do gooders and God's men.

The Christians have a God too and killing them or making life unconfortable for them so as to emigrate from their birth places is ethnic cleansing in its worst forms and must be stopped urgently and now.

Forcing the Christian women to become muslims so as to force them into marriages they do not want is criminal. It is worse than rape.

The Government must do all it can to protect the Chritians and all other Iraqi minorities and create the atmosphere of freedom of thoughts and religion and respect the human rights of these original Iraqi citizens.

Failure to do so will be a crime and unforgiveable.

Gravatar Dear O and M

Iraq should encourage tourism.by
Mohd. Hameed Al Safi

We have developed many of the ingredients for success in the establishment of foundations and structural as a society, able to raise us to the ranks of the economically and socially stable in the region as a whole. Especially as we enter the phase of stability (economic security), which prevailed in Iraq, as well as the gradual opening of the international community to Iraq (post war).
Iraq has become dependent on a single key oil exports for the time being, ceased to exist after the circumstances that accompanied the last decade many commercial industries to which Iraq was a corollary to reliable oil revenues in cash, such as agriculture, livestock, which requires a lot of time, effort and money to re-repair .
This leads us to search for more options and opportunities to attract other investment, tourism for example, goes toward another mainstay of the economy if allowed Iraqi seized and scientific ways of thought leads us to develop this facility and invest in the region.
Tourism industry or unforeseen, as released by economists, one of the most important factor in the economic prosperity of countries, the funds generated from tourism revenue, saying that, in addition to their active in economic development.
Where this phenomenon attracting popular in a limited number of tourist country classification, many expatriates and visitors, tourists and recreation enthusiasts and travelers from around the globe.
Tourism is also one of the most developed industries in the world, being productive sector plays an important role in increasing national income and improving the balance of payments, and a source of hard currency, and the opportunity for the employment of labor, and a goal to achieve development programs, which alone the many countries that lack the environment for the establishment of tourism and the establishment of Govt artificial factor attracting investment for tourists.
According to the World Tourism Organization contribute to tourism revenues by 11% of the total world production, offers some 200 million jobs, equivalent to 8% of total employment in the world, as the top tourism products ranked first in international trade, followed by second-class vehicle industry .
Which makes tourism and to contribute to the economic growth of developing countries, vary the contribution of tourism expenditure in GDP varies widely from country to country, depending on the size of the economy and the level of expenditure.
According to a recent study for (American Express Travel) accounted for Western Europe and North America, Eastern Europe and East Asia and the Pacific over the past two decades, the bulk of imports of travel and tourism, while the Mediterranean region accounted for an average of $ 36 per cent of the volume of international tourism.
Has managed the Middle East would be the point of 46 million tourists last year, despite the state of political instability that has engulfed the region.
From another perspective, tourism is linked to the dynamic aspects of culture and civilization of the human being, that is, a civilizing mission and a bridge of communication between cultures and knowledge of the humanitarian nations and peoples, the result of natural communities for the development of tourism and the high standard of living of the individual.
It is a cultural enrichment for the local population, by allowing for broad spaces in the mix and to listen to peoples and cultures of the language proficiency of features.
Where tourism has become the method and approach of many of the global tourism enterprises, and to what many believe the application of the concept of tourism is not costly in financial terms, he returns moral and material, and the profit and interest on tourism enterprises.
American writer finds (Cambridge Book Rivuoz) in his book "Tourism in a globalized society" on the relationship between tourism and modernity with a focus on the impact of tourism on human and social relations (even privacy is a given society must find other societies compares himself, or what is known as Studies in the "other" and mixing with foreign tourists and gives an important opportunity for such comparisons).
Iraq and one of the few countries which have the elements of a successful tourism has attracted factors and attract visitors from across the nations and peoples, because of his large storage archeological, cultural and religious.
As well as enjoy the terrain and also different environmental climates in the north, center and south, which is attractive incentives to attract the largest number of tourists in different seasons, the annual, which indicates the need for the development of this sector and setting it in motion.
In the opinion of specialists in this field is that the success of tourism across the importance of understanding the concept of tourism and knowledge components into a viable product for export, through the knowledge of the most important economic product components, namely:
1 - tourists: the energy absorbed by the human host country's tourist attractions and in accordance with the requirements of each tourist.
2 - Exhibitors: the countries that provide the service of tourism to their tourists to bring all their potential in this area commensurate with the demands of tourists in order to create a successful tourist environment.
3 - (tourist attractions): different types, which is in the types of tourism and the provision of different definitions of them find it: religious tourism, eco-tourism, medical tourism, sports tourism, social tourism, shopping tourism, adventure tourism, beach tourism, space tourism, the Tourism ... Etc..
Three-dimensional important for the advancement of the draft comprehensive national tourism
First: the physical return of the tourist entrepreneurs.
Second: the social dimension, given that these institutions are part of the community and benefit from local expertise and experience as possible, as well as community involvement and the introduction of his opinion.
The third dimension: the environment is treated as such institutions as part of the environment, and therefore must preserve the natural resources of water, energy and natural plants and neighborhoods to prevent any risk of pollution and degradation problems.
So has some of the points and proposals for a mechanism to activate the sustainability of tourism and more:
1. Preparation and rehabilitation of the surrounding population areas of tourism, professional and cultural Tarevm the most important behavior and ethics successful in attracting tourists and attract them.
2. Develop ways to improve the environmental situation and beautify the surrounding areas, tourist sites and provide essential services and road construction to facilitate access.
3. The rehabilitation of cadres and local travel agencies able to organize regular trips for tourists, visitors and citizens by air-conditioned buses to the monuments and cultural and tourism programs with variety and entertainment for them.
4. Promoting industrial and agricultural products and manufactures local traditional crafts or public or sell it for submission to the tourists.
5. Activating the role of the visual and written media in the promotion of local tourism.

Lots of change in the air. Democrats throw out their Liberals and the PUMAs leave the Democrats. Somebody at the JAWA Report started having time on their hands, and so turns to domestic computer hijinks. The president of the Los Angeles chapter of NOW personally endorses Sarah Palin after the national office endorsed Obama.

Now, Scrappleface hits a serious note.

http://scottott.blogtownhall.com...ain- palin.thtml

He's got a point. That "Troopergate" report is something the McCain campain should run with, as an example of what happens when bad government is entrenched.

They should also run with that Annenberg fiasco as an example of what happens when you spend money for a purpose different from what was originally intended. The Annenberg foundation intended to improve the education of children in Chicago, and Barack Obama, following William Ayers advice, spent huge amounts of money on securing votes from adults. Getting out the vote may be a good in itself, but it doesn't have much to do with improving the education of schoolchildren, and after the money was spent, the education of school children had not been improved.

John McCain doesn't have to say he knows much about economics to make the point that you get what you pay for: and if you don't, in fact, spend the money on improving education, you don't get improved education.

Gravatar Amazing. About 1-2 years ago the Democrats were debating capitulation terms to Al Qaeda in Iraq. Shortly after, the Sunnis decided (but the Democrats never caught on) it was time to live in reality, and decided to throw in their lot with a free Iraq. So even on the stupid measure of success of the murder rate, Iraq is a clear-cut victory, with the murder rate going down as the criminals are rounded up. It was always a straightforward technical task to do that.

So do the American people turn on the Democrats for baulking in the face of an enemy? Did the American people turn on Obama for voting against liberating 27 million people for the loss of 1.5 months worth of US road toll? Did the American people turn on Obama for sending his children to be indoctrinated with a racist ideology at their "church"? Did the American people turn on Obama for blaming white racism for his black father's infidelity?

Nope. He's ahead in opinion polls. Outrageous. Nearly as outrageous as the cowardly and treacherous Rudd abandoning our Iraqi and American comrades because he didn't want to listen to all those nasty words from the left.

Good grief. What a world.

Dear O and M

If this is true and not just speculation and smearing.

If the Iraqi parliamentarians receive bribes and hand outs from Iran to oppose the USA/Iraq security agreement then these should be shot.

Their treason is clear and they should be hanged.

They must be so sick and corrupt and must smell of foul odour through and through.

How can they manipulate the future safety and well being of the Iraqi Children for a handful of few dollars and continue to represent the ordinary citizens?

These low individuals are the most vile, evil and unclean people ever born in Iraq from the Iraqi mothers.

What is going on there? Is a total lack of responsibility and disregard to the Iraqi interests by these people tolarated with impunity? Are they really purchased by the Iranian dollars?

I am speechless and very angry indeed.

The case, thirdly, that the gangs running battle apostasy and Superstition in Mosul as an example of the world opposed the threat of science and thought and freedom, coexistence and peace, which is under the responsibility of the international community and the United Nations exclusively.

The first Syrian Ambassador in Iraq has arrived after boycotting Iraq for over thirty years.

Sir, You are welcome in Baghdad and we hope you have a good time here.

However, please keep to your duties as a diplomat and do not interfer in our system of government which is freedom, democracy, the rule of Law and human rights. We all know you do not have the same system in Syria, and that is your business. Therefore, please leave our business alone.

Being an Arab or a Muslim does not automatically give you the freedom or rights to get involved in our affairs.

We know our business very well and so please leave us to deal with it alone.

So please stick to what you came to Baghdad to do and that is all.

Good luck with your diplomatic mission.

ITM should participate on highlighting the plight of the poor Iraqis and the world tomorrow.

Please read this.

Blogging for a worthy cause — Global day on the Web to highlight plight of the poor
Laura Bashraheel I Arab News

JEDDAH: Organizers are hoping that Arabs will be blogging in a big way on Blog Action Day tomorrow, when the world is set to highlight the plight of the poor. This is the second edition of blogging for a theme.

But two Arabs, who are going to participate this year, are only cautiously optimistic.

Ahmed Badrah, a 20-year-old Palestinian video blogger who lives in Jeddah, studies in Malaysia and is the founder of Arab Video Blogging Community, blames a lack of communication among bloggers for the poor response from Arabs.

“That’s why I am promoting awareness through my blog,” Badrah said. “Unfortunately, Arabs are not that active in sharing this event with the world; I don’t know why. I think maybe because the event itself is not known to Arab bloggers. Earlier, I checked if anyone had written about the event, and I found no one had. Hence I posted an article in Arabic to create awareness, and the result was good.”

Another effective promotion has been word-of-mouth advertising of the event. That’s how Essam Al-Zamel, the 28-year-old CEO of Remal Information Technology Company, got to know about the Blog Action Day. “I knew about the action day through a blogger friend of mine,” Al-Zamel said.

He added that through his participation he hopes to shed some light on the root causes of poverty locally and internationally and how to eradicate the causes or alleviate the suffering. “I will also write about the lack of real action from the wealthy nations because I can find no excuse for them for not acting effectively in solving poverty around the world,” he told Arab News.

Badrah, meanwhile, said that after posting the event on his blog he received good responses from bloggers.

The organizers have invited bloggers from all over the world to examine poverty from their own blog topics and perspectives. The Blog Action Day is organized as a nonprofit activity by a group of volunteer bloggers and the staff of Envato (http://envato.com), which has donated their time and resources.

Currently registered to participate until yesterday were 7,644 sites and 8,447,030 RSS readers.

“I hope there will be a lot of Arab bloggers who want to make an impact on society and bring about change in the region,” Badrah said.

Blog Action Day is an annual event that aims to unite the world’s bloggers, podcasters and videocasters to post about a select issue on the same day. The day started last year with environment as the theme.

According to the website administrators and creators, global issues such as poverty are extremely complex. There is no simple, clear answer. The main aim of this action day is to raise awareness and trigger a global discussion in order to find and enhance solutions.

“By asking thousands of different people to give their viewpoints and opinions, Blog Action Day creates an extraordinary lens through which one can view these issues. Each blogger brings his or her perspective and ideas, each blogger posts relating to their own blog topic and each blogger engages their audience differently,” said one blogger. “By doing so on the same day, the blogging community effectively changes the conversation on the Web and focuses audiences around the globe on one issue.”

ACORN, a community organizing group that has operated for nearly 40 years outside the national spotlight, suddenly finds itself a central issue in the presidential campaign. ….

All this leaves leaders of ACORN -- formally known as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now -- agape. …

ACORN, more than any other group, pleaded with regulators . . . to please, please regulate these institutions because they were stealing market share from banks that were making safe loans and inflating housing prices," said Mike Shea, executive director of ACORN Housing, an arm of the group that focuses on building low- and moderate-income housing.

***********

ACORN’s involvement in massive voter fraud in at least eleven states (at least half of those where it has been active) has been in the national news for days, complete with video clips of people admitting to the involvement and complaints from Democratic people responsible for handling the voter registration.

ACORN is heavily involved in the present economic crisis, because it pressured banks (such as Citibank) to force them to make loans to people who could not afford them.

ACORN has bragged in print about Barack Obama’s major role in their organization.

Somebody’s been telling some major, disprovable lies, here. In particular, I would like to know exactly what reforms ACORN supported and when, and whether their counsel, Barack Obama supported such reforms.

Gravatar Open Letter to Sen. John McCain: Senator McCain, I believe in you. I remember when the Vietnam war was raging and instead of the American people supporting our troops, every day there were massive anti-war protests in the streets of America. These people were mis-guided and I have often thought that if people had supported our troops, whole-heartedly, as we do now, the outcome might have been different. While these radicals were clogging the streets and protesting, you were passing what must have seemed like endless days and nights in a North Vietnamese prison camp. How many times were you subjected to excruciating pain? How many times did you look dispair and anguish, and crippling loneliness in the face, and yet you kept on going. You lived to fight again, and now you are facing a massive battle. You say "Country First". Your country really needs you now. There are many, many issues about Barack Obama that trouble many Americans, including myself and my family. His past associations, I think, are fair game in any discussion. After all, this is the highest office in the land we are talking about. His relationship with an unrepentent terrorist, an anti-American reverend, and radical groups like ACORN are most relevent, in my views. Obama has said, and I heard it just now in his own words, that ACORN will have a prominent role in an Obama administration. ACORN goes against everything that is America. Their strong-arm tactics against our institutions, their lack of morals and conscience when repeatedly committing voter fraud, tarnishing what our Founding Fathers and every military person has fought for: our precious and sacred right to vote. (he gave ACORN $800,000 from his campaign to carry on this activity, that is an outrage!) I don't want these kind of people to have the key to the White House, and in an Obama administration, not only will they be allowed in, they will be welcomed with open arm. Senator McCain, I want you to fight for us again, and if you go down fighting, so be it. In the debate, please bring all of this up. I know you want to be a gentleman and take the high road, but if you truly believe in "Country First", you need to bring all of Obama's dirty laundry out. You cannot allow a radical person, involved with so many shady organizations, to step into the White House. Of all people, Hanoi Jane Fonda, a crony of these radical anti-war people Code Pink, she would probably be one of the first people on the guest list. Don't forget during the Vietnam war, she went to Hanoi, sat on a tank, and gave aid and comfort to the enemy while you were sitting in the "Hanoi Hilton" prison. And because of her despicable actions, our American POW's were made to suffer more and some lost their lives because of her. I don't want these kind of radical people to have free rein in the White House, and once they get in, I don't think we will ever get them out. As far as corporate greed, I hope you will have Rudy Giuliani as your attorney general and have him go after all the corruption. As mayor, he cleaned up New York City, and I trust him. I think if you do this, a lot of people will begin to have hope again knowing that corporate greed comes with a consequence. Senator McCain: I hope you will consider what I have brought up. Best of luck in tomorrow night's debate and God Speed.

This week's magazine hightlighted the charity he sponsors (www.Holeinthe wallcamps.org) which sponsors summer camps for ill children, and the previous magazine had a gorgeous picture of him on the cover and a very nice article inside. I heard that tonight on The O'Reilly Factor on Fox news channel, the culture quiz will highlight Paul Newman. Take care. Best wishes from Texas.

Gravatar Army blocks soldier from bringing puppy back By FREDERIC J. FROMMER, Associated Press Writer
Tue Oct 14, 3:08 AM ET

WASHINGTON - More than 10,000 people have signed an online petition urging the Army to let an Iraqi puppy come home with a Minnesota soldier, who fears that "Ratchet" could be killed if left behind.

"I just want my puppy home," Sgt. Gwen Beberg of Minneapolis wrote to her mother in an e-mail Sunday from Iraq, soon after she was separated from the dog following a transfer. "I miss my dog horribly." Beberg, 28, is scheduled to return to the U.S. next month.

Ratchet's defenders are ratcheting up their efforts to save him. On Monday, the program coordinator for Operation Baghdad Pups, which is run by Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals International, left for a trip to the Middle East to try to get the puppy to the U.S.

And last week, Beberg's congressman, Democrat Keith Ellison, wrote to the Army urging it to review the case.

Beberg and another soldier rescued the puppy from a burning pile of trash back in May. Defense Department rules prohibit soldiers in the U.S. Central Command, which includes Iraq, from adopting pets, but exceptions have been made. Operation Baghdad Pups says it has gotten 50 dogs and six cats transferred to the U.S. in the last eight months.

"I'm coping reasonably well because I refuse to believe that Ratchet has been hurt," Beberg wrote in the e-mail to her mother, Patricia Beberg. "If I find out that he was killed though — well, we just won't entertain that possibility."

The mother said her daughter sent another e-mail saying that she confirmed that the dog was still alive and doing OK.

Operation Baghdad Pups' program coordinator, Terry Crisp, is scheduled to arrive in Baghdad on Wednesday. Crisp said the adopted dogs left behind face death on Iraqi streets.

She said Iraqis view dogs and cats as nuisances and carriers of disease, and U.S. soldiers have rescued many of them from abuse.

Dear O and M

Turkey has been a close friend of Iraq.

The Iraqi lands and resources are being used to declare war against Turkey and that is wrong.

The PKK fighters, some call them so others may wish to call them terrorists are causing deaths and destructions in Turkey emanating from
Iraq.

We know for example the Kurdish communities sympethesise with its cousins in Turkey, but if they must fight the Turkish system, for their indepnedence then, it should be from within Turkey or Syria or Iran helped by their own people there. Syria and Iran are not democratic countries like Iraq and Turkey. The latter two are freedom loving and democratic and should not be seen to be fighting each other or their lands being used to harm each other's citizens.

It is the joint responsiblity of Iraq-Baghdad and Iraq -Erbil to evict these rebels and not to harbour or assist them to commit atrocities on the border with Turkey, for the sake of good neighbourly relationship with Turkey.

Iraq needs Turkey to help it rebuild and reconstruct itself and must therefore choose what is best for it and what is best for a group of rebels with no hope of success.

Iraq must back the winning horse and not be emotional due to kinship with the poor and ill equiped PKK rebels fighting a NATO country.

Kind regards

Gravatar I have to apologize to all you Democrats. I can be a little slow at times but sooner or later I do manage to get the picture. I have been finding fault with the Candidate that the Democrat Party had nominated for President under the assumption that he supported the fundamental issues and goals of that party.

Well I was wrong. After much researching and reading over the last few days on the connections and philosophies of William Ayres, ACORN and other Communist/Socialist thinkers and activists, I have come to the conclusion that they have hijacked the Democrat Party. If you objectively look at this possibility, a lot of things start to make sense. A Communist/Socialist candidate would never be able to be elected President of the United States.

So how can you accomplish this? Along with radical, activist and other terms the terms used for the Weathermen, subversive comes to mind. Instead of trying to get a candidate of your persuasion elected President which would more than likely fail, why not disguise him as a member of one of the major parties. Then get the party (Democrat) to run him as a candidate, which means they have millions to throw into the fray and add to that all the resources of the Communist/Socialist force and it becomes a formidable group to throw against the opposition.

Sadly, I see the Democrat Party so excited to have a candidate that might get elected that they have let the Socialists hijack their party. If you watch this appearance of Barak Obama at the Heartland Democratic Presidential Forum held on December 1, 2007 with an open mind and listen to what they are saying it is scary to me. The only thing Democratic about his candidacy is the Government that is allowing the Socialists the freedom to pursue their objective.

I could be way out in left field (pun intended) with this and in fact I hope I am but then stranger things than this have happened in history.

Turkey is NOT a democracy in the western sense of the word.
Yes, the Turks vote, but they don't get much of a choice in who they vote for. The PKK is outlawed in Turkey. So the Kurds have no political voice.
Iran is the same way. The citizens vote, but the Mad Dog Mullahs pick who they can vote for. So they get a choice between two guys that are the same. Just like in Turkey. Turkey doesn't want the Kurds to have a real choice, since the powers that be might lose control if there was a third choice, one that the rulers didn't agree with.
That being said, the PKK need to be squashed like a bug.
One thing to note. I'm not sure the PKK IS a terrorist group today. They were in the past, but I think for the last decade they have restricted their attacks to military targets. That makes them freedom fighters, NOT terrorists. I might be wrong about that. I really don't keep track of the groups that Turkey is trying to kill off today.

Gravatar Ex-fetus | 10.15.08 - 12:24 am |

Thank you. I now know the difference between terrorists and freedon fighters.

The Kurds in Turkey are not treated in the same way as other minorities.

So some of them raised their sword to fight for their right. that is plausible, However, thye should not use the The Iraqi territory for their battles. Iraqi have not or should not have quarrel with Turkey.

Dear O and M

This edict from Sistani giving;- parliament, the people and the political parties the final say over the security agreement with the UNITED States.

Since the political parties are engaged in their own narrow agendas, and since some members of parliament are on the pay of outside governments, then my own preference if I am asked my opinion is;

LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE.

There should be a Referendum for all the people to decide. This is a major decision to be tken by the current rulers alone. Some are not even individually elected by a list or a quota?

That means extending the current position by another year so as to carry out a proper census, prepare for a referenedum and at the same time prepare for the General election,2009.

It could all happen within the year.

Trying to rush it at this stage and ignore the people may not be advisable.

We have waited several years to get out of Clause seven of the UN, and our money is help back, what is another 12 months?

THE PEOPLE MUST BE CONSULTED.

When it suited everyone, the work was intense when the people were asked to vote for the Constitution?

We know it could be done within the time frame of 12 months.

What do your ITM readers think please?

Kind regards

Gravatar Hameed Abid | 10.14.08 - 1:08 pm |

Hameed,

I've said it before and I'll say it again: the ultimate solution to this mess is for all Kurds in the region to emigrate to Iraq. Then they can live free in their own semi-autonomous region unmolested by Persians, Turks, or Arabs. There will be no more need for terrorism.

Failing that, you're right. The proper solution is for Talabani or Barzani to go to Turkey and try to address the issues on behalf of the Turkish Kurds. However, before that happens, all PKK activity in Turkey must cease.

Oldtimer,

If you check out the blogs, you will find that a lot of people who are being called "Republican" are really Democrats calling fouls by their own party.

If you want to know why the Democrats are red-in-the-face hysterical over Sarah Palin, all you have to do is notice that she's exactly the kind of candidate the Democrats have been running, and that she'd fit right in with the Blue Dogs. Sarah Palin should have been a Democrat, Joe Lieberman should still be one, and the only reason Hillary is still a Democrat is because she refused to let the subversives throw her out.

Kathy,

Bless your heart. I love your posts but when you have a long one like this, could you please break it up into paragraphs? One long paragraph is difficult to read.

In the one referenced above, it should have been in three parts: the part about Vietnam; the part about Obama's associations; and the part where you made suggestions for McCain.

I already knew everything in the first and second parts, so it would have been nice to just skip to the third. As it was, I practically had to read the whole thing to find where the third part started.

Just a suggestion because I think what you have to say is important and a valuable contribution to this forum and I'd hate for people to miss out on your thoughts because of the daunting task of reading a really long paragraph.

My husband and I have worked our a$$es off for 20 years to get where we are today, building our own retirement account, insurance, etc., college down for one and in-the-bank for the other two. We've run the numbers, and Barack Obama says our taxes will go up 30K a year.

That is, he'll take our savings, filter them through the government, and give them to somebody else, in about 18 months' time. This is supposed to help the economy and the middle class. If I have the money, it's either going to go directly into an investment, or to a tradesman, or an automobile (Mine's ten years old.). If I control the money, it moves sooner, and is directed to some productive aspect of this economy, rather than discouraging some low-income person from seeking a better job.

That's the difference to me, and it's enough to drive a Democrat to vote Republican in this election.

Gravatar Oldtimer | 10.14.08 - 10:47 pm |

I don't think Obama is a communist and I'd bet that he doesn't consider himself a socialist. However, I do think he wants America to be like the cradle-to-grave nanny states of Western Europe. He exposes himself as a wealth redistributionist here.

In our discussions, we need not accuse him of socialism or communism but point out what he really wants: a nanny state. That's bad enough for most independents and it doesn't make us look like extremists.

Gravatar Oldtimer 10.14.08 10:47 p.m. I am with you, I think you are right. I remember when Fidel Castro was fighting to take over in Cuba, and many Americans were rooting for him. He seemed to be a freedom fighter,it seemed like a noble, romantic cause, heck, I remember that one of our most famous America movie stars, Errol Flynn, was there fighting too. I remember seeing it in the TV news. (in black and white, LOL !!!) Fidel Castro seemed like a good guy, everyone was pulling for him. But then after Castro took over, Castro laughed and said "I was a Marxist, Leninist all the time". What a low blow !! I think it is happening again with Obama. Thank you for bringing this to the fore front. Wake up America, Obama and his cronies are trying to steal the election with ACORN and their underhanded tactics. Everytime they are brought to task about it, we are accused of trying to keep people from voting. Nobody wants to do that. but it is one person, one vote. Of course, Obama is from Chicago, where the motto is "vote early, vote often", and the "graveyard vote" is pretty much standard for them. Good luck tonight, Senator McCain. We need a hero. You have shown over and over again that you have character. Obama definitely doesn't. George Soros, the head of Move On.org should be ashamed of himself. He moved to this country, accepted all of our joys, privileges, and benefits, and rights, and he used it to get filthy rich and now he is using his vast wealth to fund all of these dirty tactics. Ammar al-Hakim in response to the indictment in Sofia: not similar to Uday Saddam Hussein

Sofia: Voice of Iraq

Raised, the visit of Mr. Ammar Hakim, the deputy Achterqubl a short period of his father Abdul-Aziz in the leadership of the Supreme Islamic Council in Bulgaria, many questions and comments about the different character, which is represented in the Iraqi state, which gives him the right and authority to meet the leaders, governors and officials of many countries, and to speak during his meetings with them on behalf of Iraqi government or the state as it is known that are not in the major constitutional institutions including Parliament any site, except of course his party which does not include such official capacity.
And Ammar arrived in Sofia at the head of a delegation that included the leader of Corps "Badr" and the Chairman of the Committee on Security and Defense of the Iraqi Council of Representatives and the Attorney-Ridha Jawad Taqi and Rep. Leila Khafaji media delegation accompanied by television, "the Euphrates."
Although Hakim invitation to visit Bulgaria informal business groups and former officials in the Foreign Affairs and the State, but he has an interest remarkable and very surprising, it was received by President Georgi Parvanov and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivailo Kalfin and Minister Mikhail Mykhov interior and defense Tsonev.
Hakim said at a news conference attended by Bulgarian media at the "Hilton" where he and his entourage, "he told President Parvanov Iraqi government's desire to develop political and economic relations and trade with Bulgaria and military" to express his "deep appreciation of the Iraqis for the role played by Bulgaria In helping to control the security and delivery of medical and humanitarian aid in Kerbala and Diwaniya, "he said, adding deep grief for the casualties among the Bulgarian soldiers due to violence and terrorism in Iraq."
Hakim acknowledged in an indirect impact as an administrator in the State by saying that he discussed with officials Albulgarfi activate the joint commissions between the two countries and the necessity of opening the Bulgarian embassy in Baghdad, saying he would work to provide the necessary terms and conditions of the Iraqi side to facilitate this Alamrobesckl provide security in the region The building where the embassy as it was experiencing numerous security breaches, and said that Iraq welcomes Bulgarian companies to participate in the reconstruction and investment, referring to the existence of new laws to encourage foreign investment in Iraq.
Hakim said his visit to Bulgaria, the first of its kind for a European country, recorded a full opening to the European Union, which also said Iraq is seeking to strengthen relations with state and his desire to play a pivotal role in the reconstruction and development Modkha at the same time that he would travel To the Czech Republic and Portugal in an effort to develop Iraq's external relations.
Al-Hakim met with the collection of Iraqis residing in Bulgaria and Sarda, speaking in detail the situation experienced by Iraq and subjected to an internal terror at the hands of loyalists and Al Qaeda forces and interventions Jawarltogej Altotraltaivi and pushed Iraq into civil war, focusing on Arab interventions, ignoring the reference to Iranian interference Direct support groups out of the formation, funding and arming militias and the so-called special groups, saying only that Iraq conflict a U.S. tax - Iranian and other Arab and Iranian We do not want to be a settling of scores of regional and international, stressing the need to forget the painful past and work for reconciliation At the country, which must be for all Iraqis, refusing to consider the draft federal south, which his party holds a blueprint for the division of the federal state, saying one of the pillars of strong state Z,
Not free to meet with the Iraqis Hakim, perhaps the surprises were not a source of satisfaction for him and the accompanying delegation, especially when the journalist Mohammed Khalaf intervention which he explained how the political parties, Sunni Islam and Shiite Iraqis have undermined the dreams that have a modern civil legal institutions, and made Iraq a Failure is not in the streets of towns and villages of innocent blood on the hands of militias and sectarian parties of the institutions of the State focus of corrupt and bribe and a campaign of false certificates, and all categories of people paid to the "mercy" on the Magahm Mashnuq tyrant and scourge of death, directed at the end of his question was a shock to Mr. And his companions "whether Mr. Amar reproduced," Uday Saddam Hussein "to conduct the current traveling within Iraq and outside, the impression is said behind the popular and political circles and cultural circles in Iraq and the Iraqi communities abroad?".
Hakim, who could not hide his displeasure Artbake and rejected the approach of the metaphor, saying "I have no real estate or property or business," adding that "if you have data and indicators that I Aqdahm" Saddam's family, "prefer to mention."
Hakim has faced numerous questions relating to charges that his party went to the godfather of Iran and the other is whether the United States to enter Iraq liberation or occupation, the future security agreement with the United States, and disagreements with the Kurds, and the persecution of minority Christians and deprived minorities of their rights and electoral representation in Parliament, referred to Amiri to respond.
It is common secrets that accompanied the visit, the embassy did not know officially that the delegation arrived aboard a private jet was unclear who paid for, whether Mr. Arafat himself of the "clean money" or funds from the government of Iraqi citizens deprived of drinking water and electricity, immigrants who do not Have enough to eat and their tin houses in ruins?.

Gravatar One more reason why Iraq should not agree to any restrictions on carbon dioxide output.

http://www.mcclatchydc.com/homep...tory/ 53884.html

Iraq should build its industry based on the best practices, and should be diligent in its efforts to control real pollution: spent solvents, heavy metals, poor-quality industrial products, and sewage.

I also note that Sarah Palin, as governor of Alaska, might have noticed the contrast between the weather in Alaska and the news reports about global warming. That could go far to explain her skepticism about man-made global warming.

Gravatar Dear O and M

I read today that the Iraqi piplines from Basra are getting old and rusty and held up by chewing gum and strings.

Also there is still a dispute about the maritime borders between Iraq, Kuwait and Iran.

Further, there is no Oil Law in Place for the Major Oil Companies to help Iraq with confidence.

It is well to press on negotiating Contracts with International Oil companies now.

But the fixing of the infra structure and piplines and equipments must be tackled first. Urgently.

A serious gamble is being taken to enter into contracts with others when the the present Infrastructure cannot support them.

Eggs will be thrown at Iraqi's faces and disputes will likey occur without the necessary repairs and the Oil Law in Place.

I am sad to read that the negotiations with Exxon Mobile and BP had collapsed.

Clearly the Ministry of Oil needs expert help and guidance, in its future tasks to attract investors in the vital Oil and Gas industries.

Kind regards

Dear O and M

Glad to see the Oil price has fallen below $80.00.from its height of $147 last July.

I still think the Oil is over priced since it does not cost 10 dollars per barrell to produce.

If it goes down to $35 Dollars it will still be profitable and pays for the overheads.

The OPEC countires should start acting responsibly and not to listen to Iran to dictate the terms.

Iran is at war with the USA and the free world and the Arabs should not support it, by agreeing to let the Oil price go up and by not producing more Oil to keep the world's economies moving.

When it hits the fan everyone will be be affected. It will stink then.

Oil is too expensive and overpriced, and must be reduced further.

Kind regards

Gravatar Hi Andrea: Thanks for the kind words. I ain't against helpful criticism, if it will help my words to have more impact and easier to read. I don't think I can change the way I am though. Thanks for all the smiley face icons. I love them.

Hameed,

I think the Iraqi constitution specifies a government of representatives. I know the parliament is full of knuckleheads but let this be an object lesson to Iraqis: Don't vote your religion next time. Vote for people who are going to look out for your interests, not just those of your sect or race.

If the SOFA is not passed, I'm sure the UN mandate will be extended and the US won't stand for a poor SOFA.
