Are you doing "kosher by ingredients", or actually eating treif?
If it's the former, than you can't really say you've "stopped keeping a kosher kitchen." What would be more accurate is that you've stopped keeping a Orthodox-compatible kosher kitchen. Many people who keep kosher by ingredients would still consider it a kosher kitchen.
By the way, kosher eating is only expensive if you buy a lot of prepared foods. Plain grains, legumes, and produce are quite inexpensive. Then again, I'm a vegetarian, so that's easy for me to say. Kosher meat is $$$.

Well I haven't been looking at ingredients... so there might well be treif ingredients in what I'm eating.
Kosher meat is really expensive, and kosher cheese is also about 3-4 times the price of non-kosher cheese.
