Oh, priceless :)

This actually reminded me. My father-in-law has a book about shabbat halachot where all the pictures of the women were photoshoped out and replaced with a man. So now they put a head of a man on a body of a woman working on a spindle.

Gravatar I've seen a photo of the Chafetz Chaim that would also need to be doctored then. A cousin has it. If they are so afraid of a woman in the picture cut the picture in half rather than mutilate it like they say cows are at the hands of aliens from outer space.

Gravatar Why do you always assume the worst? They were simply following recent advice in Popular Photography magazine about how to remove background clutter and make photos more appealing. They also lifted the tone curve slightly.

Gravatar this is a clear case of loshen hore.

Gravatar That is one of the craziest things I've ever seen...

Not only is the Chofetz Chaim's kiddush cup lost, people from his village are disappearin' too!

Gravatar why dont they just ban women in general.

Gravatar Thanks! That reference from R' Falk's book is perfect.

Gravatar "why dont they just ban women in general.
js"

What's a woman?

Gravatar I don't think they photo shopped it. I think it's a reconstruction. Note the wrist strap that apppears in the left of the second photo. ( :) )

Gravatar The wrist strap from my camera fell in front of the lens. I didn't notice it until after I had posted.Sorry!

Gravatar By posting the yeshiva's URL, if your goal was to get your readers to have a lower opinion of that yeshiva, I think it worked for me. But if so, /why/ was that your goal?

Gravatar Fred, -

I always wanted to know the origin of your blog name. Soem say it's a Philly thing, but I think I figured out the truth when I heard this on the radio this morning:

Gloria, how's it gonna go down?
Will you meet him on the main line, or will you catch him on the
rebound?

(Laura Branigan, "Gloria")

Clearly 1)Fred is a Branigan fan, and 2)His wife's name is Gloria.

(Sorry, everyone, for the uncharachteristic interuption, I'm in a mood. Carry on please. Chafetz chayim, women . . .)

Gravatar Yoshke on the Mainline....

Gravatar They all seem to be hanging around without much purpose, i hope its not bittul teyreh

Gravatar This sort of thing is what the Communists used to do to purged officials. Kreminologists seeking to track the latest developments used to have a field day examining Soviet government group photos to see who had been airbrushed out.

Gravatar There's the classic (true!) story of how after Lavretny Beria was purged, the editors of the Soviet Encyclopedia suddenly discovered they had a lot more material on the Bering Sea, and sent around new pages to be pasted over the old ones.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Sov...mnatio_memoriae

I once saw a great book in Barnes and Noble all about Soviet photo doctoring.

Gravatar Interesting photos. If the elderly gentleman facing the camera was the Chofetz Chaim, he doesn't look at all like the photo normally used to represent him. If so, then it's not just a question of doctoring a photo to eliminate nearby women, it means that another's image is typically used in place of his real image. Is there no end of falsification?

Y. Aharon

Gravatar He looks like him.

Gravatar But about the yeshiva -- it claims to be a "Torah Research & Development Center"

Does that mean there's a new, innovative Torah being secretly researched in Adelphia, of all places? Too cool!

Gravatar While they were at it, they should have replaced the cap with a Yeshivishe hat.

Gravatar This would actually make a great Photoshop contest.... how best to modify the original image to convey the impression of proper tzidkus.....

Gravatar This photo with the women in the pic can be seen in the Brisker Rav bio.
If you read the bio it is surprising. Nevertheless the women are there.
