Gravatar Yeah I don't agree with censorship that is why I don't hold Michelle Malkin or Hot Air in high regard. But I also have to disagree with you. What Imus said over the air was harmful and hurtful racial commentary. And in the context of what his producer was saying its just inexcusable... calling them jigaboos? I mean whats next... porch monkey and spearchucker? I mean come on. I think the apologies and suspension was necessary and I'm glad Imus realizes just how far out his commentary was.

Gravatar well I think jigaboos and or spearchucker is kinda funny.

I'm glad Imus realizes just how far out his commentary was.

I don't know if that is really the case... he might just be doing it to save his job. And I can see why you feel the comments were hurtful but I just don't think he really meant to hurt these players in that way.

Gravatar 1 - Its Don Imus - he's made a living out of making stupid comments. I remember when his show was more comedy skits and music than interviews, back when it was W-N-BC. He never stopped skewering Ted Kennedy as a drunken loser.

2 - He didn't say anything different than what Spike Lee said in "School Daze."

3 - Better it would have been to have Vivian Stringer call for Imus' suspension and not Al "Tawana Brawley" Sharpton or Jesse "Hymietown" Jackson!

**That's my opinion and you're entitled to it!**

Gravatar I guess it all depends on the context, if Imus wants a sleazy radio show like Opie and Anthony or Howard stern then he would be expected to say things that are offensive and outrageous, but if hes appearing on a prominent cable news to talk with his producer about jigaboos and nappy headed hoes it becomes something that isn't appropriate, at least for me. Your free to set whatever standards you want for yourselves.

Gravatar Imas's whole persona is based on anger, hatred and bigotry and I don't believe for a moment that that's just his radio persona. I'm positive it's his personal and private behind the scenes self. He is a total bastard from the word go!

The things he said are just as dispicable as he his and I hope it costs him for some time to come!

Gravatar Let's face it here, while not really that funny it was not at all offensive. People put such a stigma on stuff like that. No one meant any harm by it. They are words people. They weren't even words that intended harm. Whatever happened to the freedom of speech? Is it a hate crime to make a joke? If so Chris Rock should be under the same scrutiny as Imus if not more? Ludacris you say? YES IT IS! Bottom line is people take things to seriously. This is example of why blacks will never be free of racism. Because they play the race card ALL THE TIME

Gravatar good point, Josh.

Some people can't get away with it but Chirs Rock can. I guess since I'm Hispanic I don't carry around that 'white guilt' thing... so I can laugh at anything

Gravatar Offense is a contextual matter. Imus has as much right to say what he did as others do to take offense at it. I am often offended by some of the content on South Park, but I love the show, and consider the context of the offensive material, and I think it's wonderful and wonderfully funny.
Imus should not be used as a sacrificial lamb, but he will be.

Gravatar Ahh, Rev Jim... the voice of reason

Gravatar I stopped listening to Imus when he and his brother started that all natural salsa kick and his show consisted of plugging the overpriced chips to go with it.

Imus says that kind of stuff all the time; it is his job to be an ass and it is a shame that his comments stirred up such drama.

Sharpon, Jackson? Where are they now that the 3 Duke honkies were finally vinciated? Still wallowing in their success of getting Imus kicked off radio to give a shit about them I suppose.
