HI Amy:

The dictionary I use as reference is a concise OED from 1976.

I figure if a word is worthy enough to be listed in a 'concise' dictionary (as opposed to an unabridged one) from over 30 years ago - it's good to go.

ELOGE cut the mustard in this regard.

Happy x-wording,

Dave P

ELOGE is NI3 (listed as archaic)—a word that cuts the mustard, but merely that. It's a nice Tuesday puzzle marred by an unfortunate entry that I feel could have been avoided.

ELOGE didn't bother me, it had really solid crosses. I'd never, however, heard of BABA! Now that I have, I think it's time for dessert.

Lorinne, did you see the Seinfeld episode about the bakery and the struggle over the cinnamon babka and chocolate babka? BABA au rhum and babka are apparently the same thing.

Aha! It's all coming back to me now. *grin*
