Stumbled on the NYT puzzle with mpg (EPA), spoils (SOURS) and osis (OTIC). Rest was smooth except for parsing RED ACTION, which still isn't that clear to me as being uniquely wall building.

Congrats on finding one of my favorite Simpsons moments ever! I definitely had trouble spelling TARARABOOMDEAY, and I remembered the Woomba but not the SCOOBA.

Philly, Sebastian Cabot did an entire album of spoken word readings of Bob Dylan songs. It was featured on Golden Throats, and a couple can be heard here.

Orange thanks as always and that WOOMBA reference is tooooo funny. The Supreme Court is about to ban it though and the vote will be 5-4. (another choice gone)

Today's NYT was fun - I had some of the overwrites mentioned here and elsewhere, and managed a few of my own including INMATE as an unpaid worker vs. INTERN (though perhaps apprentices on the license plate assembly line don't get paid the few cents an hour the more wizened inmates make?).

orange, i also felt estranged from the cluing on the LAT, though not as estranged as i felt from the theme answers in the NYS. i was playing guess-the-vowel at practically every crossing.

who's COL hogan? who's ELMO roper? what does SAE stand for in the context of motor oil? what's V-mail? (apparently it's not handled by AOL.) why is the harem chamber ODA deemed crossworthy but 16th-century daimyo ODA nobunaga, who came thisclose to uniting japan, not?

Joon Joon Joon calm down!! I have not done the Puzzle, but in answer to several of your questions V-mail is victory mail from WWII and SAE is Society Of Automotive Engineers for the oil standards 10W40 !0W30 etc.... Col Hogan is the star of Hogan's Hero's a comedy TV show in the 70"s? 80"s??
