I might add that this photo was taken on Friday, June 5, 2009.. the day before the 65th anniversary of D-Day and huge ceremonies right there - in Caen and at the cemetery at Colleville. The next sign, closer to Caen, was actually a traffic alert that this Autoroute - A84 and the Caen periphery, would be closed at 6 AM the next day , due to the arrival of Obama and Sarkozy - which is why we were hurrying through to get to our destination, Giverny. (alas, we weren't invited to the ceremonies).
