Ah, the mudder fodder! Puts one in mind of good old Alan Sherman, does it not? Hello, Muddah! Hello Faddah! and so forth.... |

Sometimes the crosswords can make you feel old and it usually has to do with what once seemed so hip and modern or far away. My best examples are the novel 1984, which when I studied it was decades away. Then there was the party anthem 1999 by Prince that is clearly outdated Now, this morning, Future Shock, which told us that the world was so much more fast-paced and modern and we felt smug and exhilarated. Today, I had to think and realize it has been over 25 years since we were reading and discussing it. Thanks a lot Mr. Blake. I liked the puzzle though. |

I was working on a Friday Sun on paper a few weeks ago and my daughter got interested so she, her brother and I talked a bit about clueing. I was using the examples "sub in a tube" and "pat on the buns". |

btw, I had an early error entry on the dessert theme answer. With a few fills there was an opening for some type of cheese cake which seemed theme worthy. |
