NASA chose to stick with non-Freon-based foam insulation
If NASA chose to use that foam, you can hardly blame the tree huggers. That was simply an engineering mistake...
Funny picture though.. I did like that episode.. Matt and Trey seem to like to goof on the fringes of both the right and left.. hence Team America: World Police, which was just hysterical...
You're a Dick and I'm a Pussy.. LOL

But why would NASA choose to use a less effective foam insulation?
And even if they didn't know it was going to be less effective I think now would be a good time to switch back.

Yeah that was a good episode.
"What happened? Were you bit? DID YOU EAT THEIR BROWNIES?"
I lost it when Cartman pulled out that Slayer CD.

Hate to be the one to tell you - but it was a FREON-BASED foam that brought the Columbia down.
If you don't believe me, go to page 51 (in chapter 3) of the CAIB's report, they detail the foam types used on the different parts of the external tank. It was a hand applied CFC-11 foam (Freon-11) that was on the left bipod ramp that broke off and hit the leading edge of the left wing.
So don't blame environmentalists or greens for the Columbia accident.
