Beverly Young, OWNED!!!
Beverly Young, wife of Rep. C.W. Bill Young (news, bio, voting record) of Florida — chairman of the House Defense Appropriations subcommittee — was removed from the gallery because she was wearing a T-shirt that read, "Support the Troops — Defending Our Freedom."
God I wish Cindy Sheehan would go away..

Yeah, I heard about her too.
But do you really think Beverly Young was going to get up and start yelling like I'm betting Cindy Sheehan was planing on doing?
There's somethings you just don't do.
Wearing a T-shirt to the SOTU is one of them. It's disrespectful I don't care what's on the shirt.
And BTW it is against the law.
USC 40, chapter 2, Section 193.

Well, ya.. I agree with you there.. wrote on my blog..
Now.. I'm all about political free speech, but the President's state of the union address is not the place to protest. We may have a simian of a president who cheated his way into office, lied us into a war, and got thousands of people killed, but you have to respect the tradition of the SotU. You dress and behave appropriately, and after it's over, go outside the capitol building and rant about how much of a murdering ^#$@ he is.

This isn't unheard of. During the Clinton impeachment hearings Mr. Dave Delp of Carlisle PA was ejected from the capitol for wearing the lame-ass slogan "Bill doesn't inhale, he just sucks" on a t-shirt. Delp was a guest of Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania. (Source: NY Daily News Feb 11, 1999 page 7. I looked on Lexis Nexis, so I can't link to it.)
I would have to say that Ms. Sheehan was a little more high-profile that Mr. Delp, who never met a foreign head of state, or indeed ever showed up in a news story again.

God I wish Cindy Sheehan would go away..
Yet some Dems aren't distancing themselves from her. I mean, she was a guest of Lynn Woolsey, a California Congresswoman.

Really? Cause I can point you to the exact part of the law that says it's against the law.
Why do you think it isn't?

Well, naturally you're wrong.. but that's no real surprise..

The amusing part is that Cindy has grounds for a massive lawsuit. She was treated far different than the wife of the Congressman, for doing exactly the same thing.
The other amusing thing is that the Congressman's wife has said that she was escorted out only because the police were trying to be consistent. She said she was told it would "look bad" if she remained by Sheehan was arrested.
The whole thing jusr reaks of yet more Republican incompetence. They can't even deal with a t-shirt correctly.
Again, the SotU is not a place to demonstrate, but clearly you got all your "facts" wrong.

Yeah, if the shirt wasn't illegal, then you can't kick her out because you think she may create a scene. Not being a law guy, I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure that would fall under prior restraint. If she disturbs the peace or something, then chuck her out.
By the way, her response to the incident is on MichaelMoore.com. Here's the link:
