Thanks for your input.....

I'll reserve judgment about this until there is some authoritative sourcing. If you read, the grammar and diction is horrid, leading me to believe that the "translation" may simply be what the author wanted it to be.

There needs to be an unbiased translation.

Furthermore, if I granted that what is contained in the documents is true, it changes nothing. The war was sold on WMD's and "imminent threat", neither of which were true.

If chimpy had asked the country to go to war because Saddam was a bad man, and his security forces had trained some terrorists and had contacted OBL - it would never had sold.

Many countries behave far worse, yet we're not invading them. For god's sake, North Korea threatened to nuke us a couple days ago.. Chimpy say much about that? Did he launch our nukes at them?

Good god..

Tom,

You need to read this.

Proving Bush Right on Iraq
By: JAMES LILEKS

I particularly like this part.

"According to the left, Bush spent 2002 insisting that God demanded we erect a 900-foot cross in Baghdad, preferably one doubling as an oil well, because Saddam was involved in the attack on New York and the Pentagon.

Of course, he said no such thing. The administration aimed its rhetoric at terror-supporting nations, foolishly expecting Democrats to remember when their guy got all hot and bothered about the megalomaniac gas-happy whackjob and his gangster-state government. No such luck. Once it became apparent that Bush was serious about draining the swamp, it suddenly became a protected wetland.

The more documents trickle out, the more we'll know.

But don't expect opinions to change; the hard left simply wants to glue horns on Bush, and if that means Saddam gets a bent rusty halo, well, it's collateral damage."

It's like he knows you Tom.

.

I read the link, and I suppose there are some on the extreme left that feel that way, but I'm more concerned with reality than I am simply excoriating Bush.

If there was some quality he had that I could admire.. some policy I could agree with.. some credibility when it comes to war, then I'd balance that in the context of the larger picture. The fact remains, he's the worst president ever, and history will clearly show that, polling shows most Americans are coming to see that.. and even the politicians on the right are running away from him as fast as they can. Even conservative pundits are running.

I'm certainly not going to be shy about my personal dislike for the guy. After all, he did try and push the FMA - which would essentially bar me from ever getting married in the United States, and so ya.. I have a personal animosity towards him.

But that doesn't change the facts of the policy. It's just become so absurd lately. I used to post every single Republican turn coat's story on my blog.. and many in the comments of your blog.. but it's become such a non-stop occurrence, that it doesn't get much notice anymore.. Did you see what Colin Powell's former chief of staff said a couple days ago? He basically said that Bush has ruined the conservative movement.

I know I should be happy that Bush is doing that, but really.. he's causing a lot of problems for people in his quest to destroy the republican party.

So, since I read your link, you can read mine..

The first one here: and then his follow-up here:

I know it's a quite a bit longer then the one you asked me to read.. but I think it might just make you think a bit. Appologies if you're already seen it..
