Thank you for your comment!

Gravatar What a great idea! =) And also, since I love your blog so much, I did give you a small little award =)

Gravatar I'm betting that the air conditioning helped make this kid day one of your favorites! I find that I am a much more patient Mom when I am not melting into a puddle

(And I love your Mom's comment about saving money all year to make those days hapen- sweet.)

Gravatar I got the idea from Sanity in the Summer, a great book! Do you remember when we all took a cab to and from Walmart because none of you had ever ridden in one? We did so many fun things, and I'd tuck away money all school year to save up for a summer of making memories. Appears it was successful! xoxo

Gravatar Sarah,
It's funny that soon after we traded stories about our "towers of terror" that I ran across a news article that would have us shaking in our sneakers. I blogged about it on July2nd. If you get a chance to check it out, here's the link:

Thought you'd get another laugh.

Happy 4th!

Gravatar I love all the things you do with and for your kids and family.

Keep up the good work!

Gravatar What a great idea! I've made Fridays our library/grocery store days. We pick up books and dvds then head to the grocery store for groceries and PIZZA! and SODA! My kids (who are the same ages as yours) love it!

Gravatar I love this--thanks for sharing a great idea!!

Gravatar I think this a wonderful family tradition to pass down through your children. I wish I had done this with our children. It sounds like such fun.
Sarah, it was reading your blog that sent me running to buy a copy of Elisabeth Elliot's book. I want to get more. She writes with such amazing wisdom and grace.
Thank You!!

Gravatar Someone else had kid day...cool! My mom did the same thing every summer and I have mostly fond memories of our treks. Every year my mom would take us to climb this lookout tower to see the Illinois river valley. Once You started up the open metal staircase the wind would whip through and I was always sure my little body would be found some summer at the bottom of the tower. My mom assures me that I threw enough fits and that maybe once actually made it to the top. That was my most memorable bad experience, but there were so many good ones that it makes the tower quite funny now!

Please, continue to share your kid day adventures. Maybe we'll get some good ideas.

I have no excuse to not do it myself, since we live just outside of Wash DC. You're quite motivating!

Gravatar That's a great idea. I'll have to try that with my own...

Gravatar Thank you for sharing your kid day idea, Sarah. We tend to call it a home field trip, but it's the same idea. I hope that this inspiration from you keeps me more consistent than I've been.

Gravatar Gotta love Cabela's for the free kid entertainment it provides. The first time we visited either Cabela's or Bass Pro Shop my daughter said, "That's the biggest dead animal zoo I've ever seen!"

I know your kids are going to have lots of great memories of growing up with a cool mom like you!

Gravatar What a wonderful idea!! I'm sure your kids will treasure it just like you did!!

Gravatar What a FUN tradition!! That is definitely a memory your children will cherish.

Gravatar So sweet. It's funny that I read this today as we had a "kid morning." We headed out to a nearby berry patch. It was moderately successful. My kids are 4, 3, and 1 and I didn't have a stroller.

Gravatar Thanks for sharing. That sounds like such a neat idea. Sometimes I get too caught up in doing school, cleaning and just life and forget to do fun things during the week. We will have to do a kid day next week.
