Don't tell him he doesn't like tomatoes. Tell him it's a science experiment. He has to pick the best flavor by trying each of them.

Darling spirit in that boy.

Gravatar i LOVE tomatoes.

I even had fried green tomatoes at the *real* whistle stop cafe when I was in college... It's in the woods of central Georgia - somewhere between Macon & Atlanta, I think.

Gravatar One of the saddest things about moving out this summer is no tomato plants for Dad. He's great at growing them, and hopefully we can have them in abundance next summer. I've never actually made fried green tomatoes, I'm more with Gray, pick them, rinse them off, take a bite and shake the salt shaker over them, then dive in!

Gravatar Both of my girls LOVE them... in fact my oldest swiped one in the grocery store when she was about 18 months!! I turned around to get a bag and when I turned back she had taken a big bite!!! I went a little crazy this year and planted about 33 tomato plants, but we can them and make salsa and use them all year. I am also trying cilantro so I can put it in the salsa... so far it is doing really well!! I can't wait until they are ripe!!! YUM!!!

Gravatar That's what my two tomato plants are going to look like when they grow up. And one of the main reasons I decided to try again is because I can't think of any other way to get green tomatos. For frying of course.

Gravatar Oh, give him some time, he might come around . I hated them for about 30 years or so of my life. But, once we started growing them in our backyard? A totally different story! They are sooooooo much better freshly grown! We have some in our family who do not like them either, but eat the ones we grow!

Gravatar maybe he will start liking them this summer? I really enjoyed your post about how you decorated your back porch, it was very nice and looked doable.

Gravatar we have a topsy turvy tomato plant, infomercial. my kids are head over heals for it. they too, don't like tomatoes. they want to make salsa with the tomatoes. we are also growing a garden at grandmas that consists of everything else.
