We were supposed to move to TX when dh's job was displaced back in Ohio. I was all for it (I don't enjoy cold weather one bit) but dh was for moving to Indy when an opening came up. You'd *think* we were in TX this summer though with the high humidity here.
Btw, I admired your painted porch awhile back. I have decided on a painting project as of today and just have to find the right dresser at Goodwill (I'm picky; it'll take awile). It's sooo cute though and I need one. A center island. You can check it out here;

Thanks for the inspiration, Sarah. I'm excited to find the right piece for this project.
Blessings,

I'm a little East of you in Sunny, HOT Florida!!
We just completed two weeks (two different places) of Vacation Bible School and now begins our hibernation. We will be inside till the end of September!
What keeps us entertained? School! Yep, we take our time off in the Spring and Fall and school during the horrible heat times when no one wants to leave the house!! Works for us!

Yes, I am a weenie when it comes to the heat. Atleast we don't have the humidity down here in Kerrville! We were at the beach last week and I seriously thought the humidity would kill me.

I am your neighbor to the right. Louisiana. My 15 year old son is on not 1 but 2 baseball teams. A game almost everyday! My husband and I make Florida water to take to the games to cool off. I understand the heat! Fall is my favorite season as well. I love the smells of Fall. I have 5 kids only 4 still living home and my suggestion is buy a pool! It's fun for the whole family. You can get them fairly inexpensive too! Kids love the pools!

Stopped over here from Owlhaven... I like your three-pronged approach. Especially the refrigerator part!

You live in Texas, right? I lived in Texas for 12 years and I was the same way. Plus I got the depression around Christmas also because we were so far away from my family. Yeah - I really didn't like living in Texas. Although I do miss getting to see the Texas Flag everywhere.

It is so hot here in South Georgia! I feel the same way. 4 kids couped up in the house is a recipe for disaster. I am trying to find more activities to keep them busy.
Waiting for fall

I've never been to TX, but talked to some people who had lived there for a few years. They said, "Why would anyone want to live through a TX summer on purpose??" haha Up here in OH, the seasonal depression usually hits in Feb. when the clouds seem to never go away, and it is so cold and dreary, you begin to wonder if June will ever come. Maybe you could arrange to split up your living arrangements; come up to this area for the summer and spend your winters in TX? haha Right now, in OH, we're having some severe weather, but overall, it has been sunny and everything is lush and green. Come visit!!

Well, I am in Colorado so the heat is "dry" but even so it's hard for me when the sun is blazing for weeks at a time. Can't imagine what Texas is like! Sounds like you have a plan, though! Hang in there!

If someone asked me to list my Top Five Groups of People I Feel Sorry For, I can assure you that "People Who Live in Texas in the Summer" would make the cut. When I watch the national weather reports and see what Texas is like all summer, I tell my husband, "If God ever wants us to move to Texas, He's going to have to use his biggest, most booming voice to convince me He really means it..."
All of this is to say that you have my sympathy, for whatever that's worth.

My husband grew up in Houston and says that's why he gets up early on Saturday to do chores before the heat. He gets sesaonal depression here in the winter when it's below zero and no sunshine.
I call it a tradeoff-heat or cold.. the only perfect weather is in San Diego!!

I suffer from the same. We turn off the news right about the time that Pete Delkus appears. It's just too depressing to face reality. I went errand-running all day yesterday, and I was so disgustingly gross by the time we were done that I swore off errands until Fall. Looks like we'll be living off the (suburban, low-yielding) land. =)

Living in Michigan, I've often wondered how people cope with the really hot summers down south. I guess it's like our winters - you just plain don't go outside much. Which is depressing sometimes; I try to think of it as cozy, but suffocating is sometimes more like it. Hang in there!

Summer hasn't even hit here in New England....we are still wearing long pants and looking for a sweater to throw on! I will remember your helpful tips when the dog days do finally hit us!

Amen. And, amen. And, amen.
Sorry I missed your call yesterday! I was in our church gym with 6 loud children! We were trying to escape the heat of summer by hanging out there! I'll call you back soon! Love you, sweet friend!

It's been 40 years since I lived in Texas. And I still vividly remember how hot it gets there. But the truth is, summer doesn't seem to want to arrive here at all this year, so I'm a little jealous.

My daughter likes to sleep in front of the refrigerator with the door open to 'cool' off-- certainly doesn't help the electric bill or the food spoiling issue!!!

I like to stick my head in the freezer. It goes along way in both cooling off me and the voices in my head

Oh, please come to NC!! I will not even tell you what our temperature was, but I will just say that it was not stinkin' hot . Now, humidity? That is what we get to deal with--it does not do much for naturally curly hair!

Oh, Sarah, you make me laugh. I get depressed around winter time. I just can't stand all that cold weather and snow. Blaagh. But I perk up when summertime hits. I have to admit I don't like fall as much as you. It reminds me too much that winter is just around the corner. I'm just never happy am I. ha ha

I'm sorry that it is so warm at your house....
guessing that means no new news on the playhouse?
I would tell you it is cooler here in OR, but I'm sure I would regret it sooner rather than later.

I'm so sorry for your heat wave. Any time you could procure a ticket, you'd be more than welcome to my house. We're running mid-60s to mid-70s (a.k.a. winter for you). And I'd even share my sewing machine.
Hang in there. May I suggest a 4th prong? Icy diet coke.
