Gravatar Good points. Thanks for the blog entry. I find the whole Olympic games "system" total bullcrap. Why, if they are indeed a big money maker, should any government have to pay anything? The television rights are worth hundreds of millions and television networks bid for the contracts. Its funny, the news tonight commented that the Olympic village will house approximately 850 athletes for the 2 week event. Are they trying to tell us that spending 1 million dollars to house 1 athlete for two weeks is good value?! Damn! I could have rented the best rooms in the finest hotels downtown, provided the athletes with all the fineries a billionaire would expect, and still Madoff (sic) a few hundred million profit, with NO financial risk at all!!!!

The greed and selfishness that has resulted in this debacle should be taught in schools of the future. "Look what can happen, children. Greed is a horrible thing.."

I'm sure i'm just "preaching to the choir" here, but, I had to say it .
Thanks, again
RC

This is a question, particularly as it pertains to Fortress/Intrawest et al., that I also asked about some time ago here.

And thanks RC - Heckfire, I've been preaching to the choir since 2004.

Gravatar and the 'sic' was fantabulous....especially for those who know the true prounounciation!

.

Gravatar CTV should pay $100,000 to the city every time they gleefully announce that the games are just XX days away.

Countdown-To-Cash-Cow-Clock....

Just might work!

Gravatar Looks like there is going to be an Olympic legacy after all

Gravatar Sure would be nice if the next time a city-booster group starts spouting off about putting together an Olympic proposal the citizens run their asses out of town.

Eventually the IOC would have to put on their own show and spend their $$ . . . .

Gravatar Dirk--

At this point I think we would be way better off with Manny Legace.

Bob--

My original 'modest' proposal, made way back in the go, go days of mid-2005 is here
