185 new Public Affairs Officers (hired Sept. 2006 under Order-in-Council #656)

100 old P.A. Officers (as a guess)

50 added one-at-a-time since Sept 2006 (another guess)



which according to my guesswork is about 335 well-paid people on the government payroll, at our expense, whose jobs is to manipulate the news so that we see things the way the government wants us to see things.

Aneal Basi was a Public Affairs Officer. I don't know what he worked on.

Dave Basi accepted a Media Monitor contract - over and above his regular $64,000/year salary -- and his description of faking a phone-in was caught on a wiretap conversation with his boss, Gary Collins, the Minister of Finance. Not one of democracy's finest moments.

People tell me that loyalists are always being recruited to press a certain line of thinking on phone-in shows. Sure. But they aren't on the government payroll, following orders from the government, to do it, are they? They aren't paid by the taxpayers to do it, are they.

How can that even be legal? I mean, can you have a whole secret campaign going on at public expense like that? Legally?

The Opposition should go after that aspect of Campbell governance: get the tally on the Media Monitors. Collect a few anecdotes. Go YouTube.

ok? allright! maybe gordie could call the tax just what it is...olympic tax.

as for the issue itself, i call that and public smoking 'the smoke screens'. simpson is right about going after the real, big air polluters and the economics of transportation where the rich guy wins, no matter what prius they drive.

but where's the incentive for the big boys or the green boys? industry escapes no matter wht anyone's trying to do.

so all party's need to get with it , slap on the fines and give the incentives.....where's the ndp's plasma arc generation plan?
