Palmetto Pundit

Gravatar Let's just hope Dubya stands by his vow not to intrude. Israel could be pretty well rid of this problem if the U.S. hadn't kept her hands tied. The arab world only wants to see the eradication of Israel. They have stated it over and over again. I think Israel is capable of dealing with it if left alone.

Gravatar I feel the same way you do. It is difficult to know what it feels like to live surrounded by and threatened daily by terrorists. In my opinion, they baited Israel by taking their soldiers and that was the final straw. I stand behind them completely, support and pray for their victory.

Welcome back!! Sorry to hear about your modem...it was probably nice though in one respect....If mine went down, I may get some things done around here. (smiling)

So far behind on my emails, hopefully today....I will catch up on a few. Hoping your vacation was great, relaxing, and enjoyable...which I'm sure it was. (smiling)
Your friend,
Suzie

Gravatar Ol' BC,

I tend to agree with you. We can't continue telling Israel to stand down so as "not to inflame the situation". As far as Israel is concerned, the situation as been inflamed for quite some time.

Gravatar Suzie,

Thanks! The modem was a huge problem and I ended up on the telephone with the Bellsouth help desk close to two hours one night trying to get the problem straightened out. I still don't know if either of us know what caused it, but it finally straightened itself out, so to speak.

Don't worry about me, take your time and get to your email when you can. I've fallen behind on a lot of things myself.

July has always been one of the busiest months of the year for me, so I've had precious little time to blog or do anything else for that matter, so I can totally identify with you.

The vacation was great, but way too short to suit me. I really needed the down time in a big way and probably could have used two more weeks.

Mike did a superb job subbing for me while I was away and I was really able to relax knowing that he would probably say what I was thinking.

Take care of yourself and we'll talk to you real soon.

Gravatar Barry: Glad to hear you are back up and running. If I had known you were having problems I would have been happy to fill in again.

As regards the current Israel/Islam confrontation:

It's been six years since Israel obeyed the Security Council resolutions requiring it to withdraw from the security zone they had maintained in Lebanon. Their thanks for it was the recent unprovoked attacks. Same in Gaza.

It should be obvious to anyone who has followed this issue the last few years that Israel has made significant concessions for the sake of peace only to have their concessions regarded as weakness and an invitation to attack by the Islamic crazies.

Of course the heart of the problem runs straight to Teheran.

Israel has been remarkably restrained. If I were in charge of the Israel Defense Forces, both Damascus and Teheran would be in flames by now.

Gravatar Glad you're back on line.

There are too many hints that an impartial reporter, without an axe to grind against President Bush, could foloow a trail back to Tehran and someone playing the same strategy that saw Hilary's husband order the destruction of an asprin factory in the Sudan and a cluster of tents in Afghanistan with several million dollars worth of Tomahawk cruise missiles...

Olmert has (I hope) discovered that the strategy of appeasment works no better for him or General Sharon than it did for Neville Chamberlain.

If this doesn't end without an Israeli strike on Tehran, I'll be suprised.

Gravatar Mike,

You're very kind to offer, and I'll certainly remember that in the future. Please let me know if I can do the same for you, although I've been pretty lousy at keeping up lately.

As to the remainder of your comment, I do believe we share the same sentiments regarding Teheran and Damascus.

I also get sick hearing people questioning whether or not Israel's response is disproportionate. Those are the most idiotic comments I've ever heard.

Do people honestly believe if someone throws a rock at you that you need to stop and take measurements of the one you throw back at them?

Gravatar west_rhino,

Thank you for your commments. I've seen your name a lot lately and I regret that I haven't taken the time to respond to them all.

I too, would not be surprised if Israel doesn't end up making some type of strike on Iran.

I don't necessarily think they are planning on striking Iran, but I also don't think they are planning on stopping short of acheiving some sort of real victory here.

If they do intend to strike Iran, there is no better time than now in my humble opinion.

Gravatar Barry, I have to consider that Mossad is probably on the streets of Tehran, biding their time and watching for the moment that will leave Iran with the the impression that they were backing the priests of Baal that Elijah showed how its done... could be an Iranian intermediate range ballistic missile finding its way to farm lands short of Paris, could be something out of the wildest dreams of Tom Clancy, but I'd bet that the op is underway and has been for a while.

I do understand that the son of Reza Palavi wouldn't mind becoming Shah...
