Love that hibiscus! Usually they flourish all over south florida but I can't grow one to save my life without bugs or root rot or mold or some other nasty thing getting ahold of it! :/

I have the same problem as Pam with the
"sea-biscuit" but I have coleus growing wild..came in with some top soil I bought or else in the grass seed I put down last month. I think I will transplant some of it.

You haffta be like me...I plant "silk" flowers... it's my green plastic thumb! They look great all year round and the best part, no watering required!

Hibiscus are notorious for bugs. They're prolific down here in Florida where they grow like weeds, depending on the variety. I bought a few that don't need regular watering and they're doing ok.
I won't buy any plant unless it's a perennial and is drought tolerant. Skip the annuals, they're a waste of money in my opinion. I don't have the patience for prima donnas at all!

Laura, the hibiscus is bloomin like crazy now...just seemed to take a short break there for a while. As for bugs, the only thing that seems to love it is spiders...and they love everything around here. I have giant webs on my car every single morning.
