I haven't gotten my bread and circuses yet. According to the IRS, the direct deposit was supposed to be initiated on May 9th. I double-checked my return to make sure I qualified and that I had chosen direct deposit. Dunno why I haven't gotten yet. I'm supposed to get $2100.00.

By the way, I would like to take a moment to thank my new Chinese overlords for agreeing to finance this economic "stimulus", so that I have Big State Remodeling come out and install new, energy-efficient windows on my house. Sorry to hear about the earthquake. It sucks to be you today.

I'm using my government handout to take a trip to the East Coast. The responsible thing would be to save it for my retirement.
I'm afraid that twenty years from now younger voters will be saying "I'm paying huge taxes to pay the interest on the debt you baby boomers accumulated waging war and voting yourselves tax cuts and rebates. Now you want to raise my taxes even further to pay for your medicine. Bullshit!"
Borrowing from the Chineese to buy gas from the Arabs isn't a sustainable deal.
I like the bumper sticker that says "what is it the conservatives are conserving." Libs aren't any better.

Borrowing money from the Chinese might make sense if we all did like Pocket Rocket and invested it in infrastructure
that would reduce energy expenditures, help the environment and make us more energy independent.
Pocket Rocket is being fiscally responsible and patriotic.

That's exactly what it is....."shut up" money when gas goes up to the predicted $4.00 a gallon. Premeditated, calculated BS that we've come to expect from this sham of an administration.
How many days left???
With my money, I shall by a gallon of milk and gas.

Don't feel bad, Gary. In a couple of years it may take weeks to get to the coasts by covered wagon, so fly while you can.

Gary,
Whaddaya mean the libs aren't any better? The last time there was anyone even approaching a liberal in the White House, there were eight years of unprecedented peace and prosperity. Balanced budgets, surpluses, there was money everywhere. And Bill Clinton was far from a liberal; he was a centrist at most.
So it would follow that if an actual liberal (not that there's really one in the race) were to win, the logical progression would look something like this:
2 conservative terms--chaos, mayhem, war and torture, imperial overreach
2 centrist terms--unprecedented peace and prosperity
2 liberal terms--well...new and improved peace and prosperity, I don't know.
Seriously, speaking as a Democrat, it's getting kind of old having to come in and continually clean up the Republicans' financial messes.

OK, I stand corrected. I misspoke when I said the liberals were just as bad.
I was referring to Democrats also pandering for votes by promising stuff without coming up with money to pay for it. An example is the Economic Stimulus Package. The Dems wanted to borrow more from the Chinese. Obama and Hillary both promising additional programs most of them with inadequate funding.I respected Hillary'd health care proposal because everyone that could afford to pay would be required to purchase insurance. No free lunch. Obama attacked her for that. I nearly gagged over her proposal for a fuel tax vacation.None of the candidates want to touch the Social Secuity problem. At least Obama is willing to say he won't rule out higher taxes as part of the solution.
Perhaps part of President Clinton's success was his centrist approach. He reigned in big spending proposals while having the guts to use his political capital to raise taxes.
Bush has told us we can spend a trillion in Iraq while cutting taxes and going shopping.
History will not be kind to the Bush Administration and the Republicans that supported them.

Point granted on the pandering from both sides, especially Hillary and McCain on the gas tax holiday. That was particularly panderous. (pandericious?)

Hey isn't McCain all about the tax cut to "ease" the crushing weight of gas prices. Guess he's gonna call up our friendly ATM China and pay for that. McCain hates handouts and big government after all. I guess he's also lined up the loans for the next 99 years of the war in Iraq.
