I visited the fuckBLOCKEDcess.com web site once again and verified that the Direct Revenue software is no longer installed through the security hole. Excellent!
Apparently there are now "users" running the Direct Revenue software from this distribution channel. The users did not see any EULA, they did not grant Direct Revenue any permission to install the software, and it is possible that they are completely unaware that the software is running on their computer. How does Direct Revenue plan to inform those users?

A very good question - not sure what the answer would be, either

The 'rogue affiliate' should, of course, be prosecuted. But they'll be let off and doing the same thing, for the same people, next month - because the affiliate program is, essentially, a way for Aurora to distance themselves from the illegal practices they _want_ to carry out themselves.

Thanks PG, you have provided me with 2 hours of entertainment reading these logs and following the links through the whole thing. All I seem to be dealing with these days are cries for help from friends infested with spyware and the name aurora is popping up very frequently.
I find it ironic that the main company responsible for the rise of these resource thieves (and I use the words in all sincerity) i.e. Microsoft and their flawed operating systems, are to profit from it with the release of their own anti-spyware software.
Anyway, enough of my rampbling, keep up the good work!!

Way to go Paperghost!
You have done a great service to consumers of the world!
At times, I am am sure it must be little consolation to be successful in shutting down only one rogue affiliate no matter how bad that rogue was, when you would probably feel so much better about taking out the ones who actually created this malware in the first place, and made this scenario actually possible. But...
Each nail.exe and Aurora.exe rogue affiiate put out of business as well as each computer user who gains freedom from these types of installations, is a 'nail' in the coffin of these types of companies ... and it will have an aggregate effect in time.
Great job!
