A Revolution is the Solution

Gravatar congrats paperghost. glad i am your side!

Gravatar Thanks I'm actually rather quiet, until I get angry and then its HULK SMASH time :P

Gravatar That's absolutely fantastic, Ghost!

Congrats!

Gravatar Way to go!!! I feel sorry for all those lowlife scumbags now!!!!

Go git em!!!

Gravatar Go burn their faces and show then what they're really worth, PG :D

Gravatar Congrats! Having FaceTime supporting you financially and otherwise is a great thing for both you and your research, alot more resources at your disposal I'd assume.

Gravatar Congratulations!!! Good move on both sides. The scumbags of the internet better prepare for some serious butt kicking.

Gravatar so this is what you were doing in the usa?

Gravatar Got it in one

Gravatar Nice work PG.

You've got supporters every step of the way.

Gravatar PaperGhost: How will this affect your blog? Send me an IM (and stop using MSN Messenger, It Sucks! Yahoo is the only way. Join me, and together, we will rule the AntiSpyware effort). J/K; But really send me the IM.

Gravatar hi Alex, it won't affect it in the slightest. It just means I have more places to put things now, and can get a hell of a lot more work done into the bargain. This site wouldn't really sit with a detailed technical pulling apart of files, what they do etc. Now I can finally start churning out different kinds of material across the board and create a multiple-hit effect on the garbage currently flooding the internet.

Gravatar Congratulations Chris:D

Viva La Revolution !!!

And to all the slime of the web,it's a case of....
Oh Noes!!!112

Gravatar Congrats. Sounds like you've found your
purpose and calling. Fabulous.

Gravatar Great stuff, PG. Now you can quit your day job as a secret agent from the 70s!

But take it easy with the Matrix analogies. For every cool action scene, there's an Architect or an Oracle or a cringe-inducing Jesus metaphor. Go mangle some spyware and leave the Wachowskis to philosophize and pray in their parents' basement.

Gravatar Well well...bout damn time more of the front liners were given more back than a general "thank you".

Congrats on the change over...I just have one question....

Does this mean we get to call you PG of the Boston Minutemen?

Gravatar I think that the best defence is a good offence. I too have written programs to strike back at Internet scumbags. The trick is to actually get the word out to the people who are actually willing to use these programs.

I hate to say it, but most in the IT mainstream are afraid to fight back calling fighting back unethical. When the Internet was predominately hacker (the good kind), there were very few problems. However now that the corporates and the sheeple have taken over, it has pretty much gone downhill.

Gravatar It's not just the fact that corporations are afraid to fight
back - it is that they are afraid
that they will be sued or penalized
for doing so.

Financial institutions and brokerages
are governed ever more strictly by the
SEC and new regulations (such as
Sarbanes-Oxley) have been put in
place to prevent wrongdoing by corporations.

My former company actually used the Facetime product to record all IM traffic for the past seven years in case something came up in a court case.

This makes the behavior corporations
indulge in very much a factor when
shareholders look at quarterly reports and also the government might take a
dim view where "fighting back" is
concerned.

I've heard things mentioned in
meetings "if you wouldn't want your
mother to read about it in the paper
with your name on it, don't do it".

And it's not just that - actively
fighting back takes time and effort.

So, yes, it almost requires a
Buckaroo Banzai like strike force to
deal with this issue exclusively.

Gravatar but Sacha, the architect rules!

Gravatar Nice one Ghostie

Glad you're a friend n not an enemy lol

Gravatar http://www.theregister.co.uk/200...ues_bad_actors/

Gravatar Go for it m8 Nuke the Jerks

as for the Rules there are none this is the NET .........

Gravatar but how on earth can i be on the dole when i've already worked for someone for three years? I haven't just finished university you know. I think you gotta stop hitching a ride in Doc Brown's motor

Gravatar Congrats man. gd luck with the kick-butt.

Gravatar No doubt I am with you PG!!! Congratulations.....has anyone sent Dvorak the news??? Awesome news I'm just thrilled for you!! And us.

Gravatar i love you pg, you make me oh so horny.

in case you hadn't noticed, i edited your wonderfully trollish post full of nonsensical garbage because it was too useless to leave on the site. did an adware guy pay you to write that? lol. what part of more attack vectors than a singular weblog didn't you understand? doh d-d-doh doh.

Edited By Siteowner

Gravatar Congrats to you PG!

Gravatar I think this is great news - althought the courageous Anon above raises the point that posting on a blog isn't what hurts these malware guys, but I guess you'll ahve more time to take different attack vectors

I hope you use it wisely and help restore the lovely old internet to the pleasant place it used to be before all these advertising billboards started springing up everywhere with extortion racketeers behind them...

Gravatar Wow, Anon is scary, isn't he?...LOL. Word to your insane membrane, if by referring to the feds you mean the group behind the IM installers, paying attention would have meant you'd noticed it wasn't actually ME that got the "feds" involved.

Doh.

Incidentally, adware companies responded to "harmless" blog-bashing by pulling the Bittorrent network installers, but I guess you must have missed that.

And as for money, you have no idea what situation I have left to do this and the fact that there is always a chance a new venture could go hideously wrong. If you don't like my incredibly biased opinions (because not liking malware and crappy installers is shockingly biased, isn't it?) then don't read them.

Unless I secretly make you horny, baby

Gravatar Wayne Porter said something huge is happening in the trackback, and he wasn't talking bout your new job. So what the heck is it???

Gravatar four books of doom. keep watching the skies (or, more appropriately, his weblog on ReveNews).

Tick....tock....tick....tock....

Gravatar what an utterly stupid post by anonymous - so good he forgot to put his name. i had the dubious honour of seeing it before the edit, and i can honestly say, what a crock of crap. "incredibly biased opinion"?!...about WHAT?? that spyware adware and every other ware sucks ass? oh god yeah, thats terrible. hang him high.

too many people fear having ANY sort of opinion on anything bad these days for fear of the consequences. thank god there are still people out there who do.

Anon, lets see your contribution to the antispyware world and see how far we get

Gravatar This should show Dvorak's fanclub how a "poxy blog" can be recognised, eh :D

Its good that the independant venture is still going - I don't want to get any ideas that you're holding info back for Facetime.

PS Why is this window called "emo_pop"? How can a browser window be emo o.O

Gravatar I wouldn't say its a case of holding things back for them - ultimately, they are my paying masters and I have a duty to fulfill. However, this site basically (when all is said and done) rants and raves at the junk currently floating around out there. occasionally you get a (rather non technical) walkthrough of what the stuff does and (every now and again) a collection of similarly themed "busts". In that context, the material on this site isn't really what FaceTime want me doing for them anyway. The benefit is in the extended research both before and after said "website busts" that I can do for them and feed into other channels such as Spywareguide.com and....somewhere else. But you'll have to wait and see what that is.

As for this site, its graciously been allowed to carry on as normal. If the site was laden with technical runthroughs / new infection specs (which i could do nothing with on my own anyway), I would say fair cop guvnor and amend accordingly.

Thankfully, its not

Gravatar "The benefit is in the extended research both before and after said "website busts" that I can do for them and feed into other channels such as Spywareguide.com and....somewhere else. But you'll have to wait and see what that is."

OOOOooooooo......more tantalizing suspense! With this and the '4 Tomes' that Wayne has....looks like we are in for a real treat!

To paraphrase another of my fav movies:

To the scumbags:

'You called down the thunder! Tell 'em Ghost is coming.....and HELL is coming with him!'

(Kurt and Val were awesome in 'Tombstone' )

Gravatar that IS a pretty good film

as for the suspense....well, its gonna increase over the coming weeks. keep watching Waynes blog.

and at some point in the near future....well....you'll need to check out.............MUAHAHAHA!

and stuff :P

Gravatar Ahhhh.....more teasing!

Yes, Tombstone is a good film. Watched it a lot before the robbery. All 3 Matrix dvds were taken too.

Anyway, I keep track of 'The Dynamic Duo's' blogs, so I'll be watching!

Gravatar Guns...Lots of Guns...No...What your saying sounds more like missle launchers and 50,000 pounds of nitro-glyceryn stuffed C4, it's just a big..
