I really hope that someone crashes Marketing Metrix Group's website again.
They probably still will not have permission from the makers of the things that their software is bundled with to distribute adware with that software.
Plus, they NEVER give you the option of getting the file without installing the adware and spyware.
That really burns my britches. They don't even give you the option to not install the adware and still get the media files (which last time didn't work anyway).
I really hope that someone goes after them hard, legally or illegally, because it is getting to the point that I don't think the Feds and police can deal with these adware and spyware guys.

I understand the sentiment, I REALLY do! However, we (the security community) need to avoid this mentality. Our best avenue for attacking these kind of tactics is through legal channels and public pressures.
If you look right now, there are several positive signs on the horizon (Spitzer, Direct Revenue's in court, and 180Solutions is on their way there). This proves that by encouraging those with the knowledge and skill (Eric Howes, PG, Suzi, Ben E, to name a few) to expose them we are arming legal authorities to assault them.
Right now, we need to "stay the course". Defend ourselves and help those who cannot defend themselves and continue to vocally point out wrong doings. Our strength comes from the "High Road", we need to encourage everyone to walk it...or we risk losing the valueable ground we've gained.
