Gravatar Hello,

I don't want to end your blogging, but did you know that neither MacOS X or Linux has no viruses or malware what so ever. Windows has about 100 000. You should try Kubuntu Linux (www.kubuntu.org) and see if you like it. It is completely free..

Gravatar Nice blog PG.

Otto, that isnt entirely true, linux and macOSX both have their own pests, however they are not as prevelant and as wide spread as windows based nasties.

This is purely down to Windows being the most common OS and therefore is targetted by most malwars creators.

Gravatar Well said KiD, I'm sick and tired of hearing people spout off about how Macs and any other OS's are immune to malwares. Its simple economics.

Beleive you me, when and if the time ever comes that either of those come even close to infringing on Windows stranglehold on the PC market, immediately, the malware writeres will begin to target them.

Look what happened with FF, soon as a few vulnerabilites were exposed, we began to see an increase in malware writers creating special 'bundling' depending on your browser for either IE or FF.

Gravatar Thats a solid tech page...

Gravatar Actually,

I'm suprised we haven't been hit more here with the "Mac/*nix rocks". This is one of the most flawed arguements on how to correct the current problem of malware that exists today.

First off, yes, Windows has flaws. More than Mac/*nix. We can't say for certain (100 million testers vs 1 million, windows is more thoroughly beat on, not to mention the "Anti-MS" sentiment that exists so widely). But I'll say, Windows is probably less secure by nature. It was an OS originally designed to bring computing to the home front, not to be secure.

Changing over? Swap OS', I'm going to steal one of Suzi's lines. I don't want to. I LIKE windows. Why should I change to protect myself from a criminal element. One that WILL follow me when enough people change over.

No, this arguement should NEVER be on why "Mac's/*Nix rule". This arguement should be on how do we protect all of ourselves from these bottom feeders and an OS change ISN'T it. It is to put these people under and take away their ability to profit from illegal actions.

Bah...my train of thought has been derailed by the blasted phone but you get the point.

Gravatar "I LIKE windows. Why should I change to protect myself from a criminal element. One that WILL follow me when enough people change over."

Exactly. its like those terrible adverts here in the uk warning about pickpockets, robbers and common gutter scum - keep your phone hidden, don't make yourself a target, don't make it easy for them, don't take your phone out, in fact, don't go out of your home, in fact hide under the bed and lock the doors and and and...

...Why the hell should we? I say, get your phone out, wave your wallet around and use your Windows OS. Then let them come and try to take it.

A nasty surprise awaits anyone foolish enough to try it with me, in any case...

Gravatar Congrats Temerc! I remember when you were still a noob at Spyware Warrior and Cexx. Look at you now!

Gravatar I'm with you PG. Why should we cower and relinquish our freedoms in the face of hoodlums?!

And...I got a bit side tracked earlier so Congrats TeMerc!
