well IANAL (i used to think that acronym related to gonzo porn, how wrong i was) you have to offer a chance to refuse a licence when one is presented. so their NO WAY OUT SUCKER notion may be a tad overzealous.
oops....nearly said the zealot word....blast.

This is rampant in Australia also, we have over 200 discs here with this on it. Norah Jones, Coldplay & Beastieboys to name a few...
This site shows you how to make a backup of the true Audio track on one of these discs and it does work as I have performed this myself.

Here is the news item on what will happen in Australia with a 'Fair-Use' policy which is great news for us here as it will stop this crap from coming to our country in the future.

funny this guy mentions that piracy started here in India. You know what, hundreds of thousands of so called 'assembled PC's' sold in India come with a free OS- latest winxp-courtesy of the hardware dealer. People here don't even know that you are *supposed* to pay for windows.
And about milligansghost comment, do you guys know of a 'SP2 keygen and serial key changer for windows?
Don't worry, I am a linux user :P

Since it won't play in anything it is not fit for purpose so they HAVE TO give you a refund under the sale of goods act. Their policy CANNOT overide the sale of goods act.
d2v-I am sure there is a windows xp sp2 keygen/serial key changer in existence somewhere but this is not the place to ask for one.

I don't think it's Coldplay's doing because I have the X&Y CD released in the US by Capitol and it doesn't have any DRM.

Hey folks, I am not asking for any cracks here. I think the post gives you that idea. I am only supporting the point raised by milligansghost here.
I am a linux user, you know. :P

Sorry d2v put it down to a bad case of web paranoia :-/
Re drm software it seems that the software itsself is at fault the Companies should never have put it out in the first place the software is not ready to be Distributed,
untill the CD player makers can ungrade the Firmware in the players DRM will always cause trouble
ALL THOSE WITH OLDER CD PLAYERS YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
end of rant

They really should not be sporting the CDDA logo like that. This is a broken CD.
However, I can't make my mind up whether this is "Bad news, we can't play this ruddy Coldplay CD", or "Good news! We can't play this ruddy Coldplay CD!"
