Steve Gibson claims the WMF exploit was a deliberate hole put there by Microsoft.
well i suspect that the hole was a software engineers back door that they simply forget about, it would not be the first time and it will not be the last

This method of gaining a backdoor to a Windows install is flawed even if it turns out to be true because you are relying on chance for it to "activate" and zero in on the person you want.
If the allegations are true, i'm willing to bet that I will switch to Linux.
Those who write/publish/copy and modify to their desire/actively exploit Windows exploits use Linux anyway...

No flame war intended, but had to say it. OpenBSD (www.openbsd.org), regarded as the safest open source *nix OS, has had only one exploit in 8 years. So it proves that open source does not mean more exploits, but rather chances of possible exploit being discovered and fixed are much, much higher as the number of developers are in millions.
About Microsoft, I think unless they take security and privacy seriously, thay are going lose a lot of loyal customers to *nix world (including Apple, since it is based on unix)
