oh its much cooler than Doc who m8
what it did was tabulate, the Tides for areas of coastline feed that into the machine that would give them the high and low tides for a day/week/month
that would then be Telegraphed to the coastal ports and sent on to shipping around the world....
and thats why the Uk had an empire lol
