Do you think that we will see an increase in the use of rootkits by malware authors to make their software harder to detect and remove?
As extras to that question:
Is it possible to fully clean out rootkits and be sure you got everything?
And
If so, how long would it take?

Do you think companies that offer free adware fighting services, such as Ad-Aware and the like, will continue offering themselves free? And if they continue being free, do you expect their effectiveness to remain the same, get better or worse?

When will we ever see what started rumbling in the pipleine over a week ago. I have a feeling (maybe you could acknowledge) it's not going to be just some kind of crappy disclosure. My guess is going to be a joint bust on a major adware botnet with Facetime, and you're waiting for their official press release before you publish your I'm sure already written blog entry.

As this is obviously an important one for ya, I'll break the rules of the game (because I can..lol) and say this...it definitely is NOT a crappy disclosure or moan about some random Adware maker.
There IS a bust of some description on the way, but we need to wait for some things to finalise.
I mean, its not like I don't have something usually tucked up the pipeline, but this one is considerably more difficult to fire out the barrels than most!
Anyway...hope that answered it for you.
And now...on with the questions..

Are you familiar with the Starforce copy protection spat? The security slant on this is that the Starforce drivers allegedly grants ring 0 (system level) privileges to any code under the ring 3 (user level) privileges thereby opening your computer to abuse by those who know how to exploit this. Your thoughts on this?

Is spyware really that big of a problem or is it just more propoganda from Anti-Virus companies and media sensationalism?

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
Sorry seriously though, why do we have different types of software for different types of threats? do you not think it is time someone created an andti-"malware" which covers, viruses, spyware, adware, rootkits, trojans etc instead of pretending they are all different and need seperated products to clean?
Also when are we going to learn the AV and anti-spyware products will never help us win the fight, cos every virus we detect we are 10 steps behind the creators, isnt it time we fomred a mob and went and burned their houses down in a frankenstein peasant styleee?
