A Revolution is the Solution

Do you think that we will see an increase in the use of rootkits by malware authors to make their software harder to detect and remove?

As extras to that question:

Is it possible to fully clean out rootkits and be sure you got everything?

And

If so, how long would it take?

Gravatar When will we see the next installment of adware dude?

Gravatar Do you think companies that offer free adware fighting services, such as Ad-Aware and the like, will continue offering themselves free? And if they continue being free, do you expect their effectiveness to remain the same, get better or worse?

Gravatar do you think we should all Sue Sony over this Rootkit maddness as it seems without them all the Haxors would never have started all this

Gravatar Some good questions there.

-sits back and watches the PaperGhost chat show-

Gravatar what's going to be the next big thing in malware?

also, what happened with those townies that were throwing stones at your window?

Gravatar When will William Gibson receive the accolades, money, and whores he is due as the 20th Century version of Nostrodamus?

Gravatar Will 180Solutions ever allow comments on their blog?

Gravatar Great questions so far, keep em coming!

Gravatar When will we ever see what started rumbling in the pipleine over a week ago. I have a feeling (maybe you could acknowledge) it's not going to be just some kind of crappy disclosure. My guess is going to be a joint bust on a major adware botnet with Facetime, and you're waiting for their official press release before you publish your I'm sure already written blog entry.

Gravatar As this is obviously an important one for ya, I'll break the rules of the game (because I can..lol) and say this...it definitely is NOT a crappy disclosure or moan about some random Adware maker.

There IS a bust of some description on the way, but we need to wait for some things to finalise.

I mean, its not like I don't have something usually tucked up the pipeline, but this one is considerably more difficult to fire out the barrels than most!

Anyway...hope that answered it for you.

And now...on with the questions..

Gravatar ...though I should add, I haven't actually written anything yet. I just make it all up the night before

Gravatar What's the view like from the Johnny Cash bandwagon?

Gravatar I just assumed that yesterday was the night before

ANOTHER DAY?? Say it ain't so

Gravatar With the upcomming growth of VoIP services, are you worried about spyware mutations moving in that direction?

Gravatar Hi Chris,

Got the e-mail will reply tomorrow.

Gravatar Who would win in a fight... Batman, Superman or Spiderman?

Gravatar Are you familiar with the Starforce copy protection spat? The security slant on this is that the Starforce drivers allegedly grants ring 0 (system level) privileges to any code under the ring 3 (user level) privileges thereby opening your computer to abuse by those who know how to exploit this. Your thoughts on this?

Gravatar -also sits back and watches, whilst munching pringles and sipping southern comfort -
would still like to know the fully story behind the lamp post thing tho

Gravatar Is spyware really that big of a problem or is it just more propoganda from Anti-Virus companies and media sensationalism?

Gravatar How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Sorry seriously though, why do we have different types of software for different types of threats? do you not think it is time someone created an andti-"malware" which covers, viruses, spyware, adware, rootkits, trojans etc instead of pretending they are all different and need seperated products to clean?

Also when are we going to learn the AV and anti-spyware products will never help us win the fight, cos every virus we detect we are 10 steps behind the creators, isnt it time we fomred a mob and went and burned their houses down in a frankenstein peasant styleee?

Gravatar Was the whole mac malware thing a bit of a farce? seems like a load of hype to me with little real danger involved.

Gravatar ok here's a good one do you think that a lot of antivirus/antimalware programs are becoming to sensative i have noticed that kaspersky and others tend to pick up on files that are not malware but are ohnos??? suspect this can include other antivirus programs .....
