A Revolution is the Solution

Gravatar So that means I can shoot Fiddy Cent, not have to face as much jail time AND get a boost to my rep? That's whack, yo!

Gravatar my sister saw 50 cent at a concert here in the uk a few years back. for some stupid reason, he insisted on finishing every song with a bad keyboard-based KA-BANNNNG! gunshot type noise. us being a cynical bunch of animals in the UK, all he got for his troubles was an increasing amount of abuse and bottles thrown at him.

Eventually, he went down into the crowd to kick off. Unfortunately, he picked a guy with a comedy inflatable hammer to mess with.

Needless to say, what followed was 50 Cent demanding that the guy stop hitting him in the head with it while the shambles played out on the big screen.

Lollers.

Gravatar Woa! Back off a bit there Security Man.
How is this proposed bill Bush's fault?
It may be "supported" by the Administration, but laws are passed by the Congress, not the President. This is just a bill. Write your representatives and tell them you appose it. Don't just blame Bush and quote some crap in the Inquirer. Please!

Here is a better article that has some more details:
http://news.com.com/2100-1028_3-..._3- 6064016.html

Gravatar I tried your link, but all I got was a full page ad that wouldn't go away even when clicked. I hate those things.

I won't be writing to any of my representatives because I'm based in the UK. The main reason I linked to the article is because it talks about Craig David getting punched in the face.

I guess it's a UK thing.

Gravatar The link finally worked - this kinda leapt out at me:

"The draft legislation, created by the Bush administration"

I equate "the Bush administration" with George Bush in some capacity, and thus George Bush having some small part in this, unless of course he was off playing golf.

Ultimately, I don't care about the intricate nature of how the US Government works (or in some cases, doesn't). The main thing is that people still find humour in Craig David being launched through the air. Like I said, it's a UK thing

Gravatar Oh yeah, this just makes all sorts of sense. What the hell is this world coming to. I agree that artists have the right to protect their work and it should be paid for, but to steal music and have it be a worse crime than assaulting a police officer is just plain STUPID!

The RIAA and DMCA just plain suck!

Gravatar Fight teh powah!!!112

Gravatar So I guess if your not pirating intellectual property or assulting the police, then you got nothing to worry about.

I can understand the value of the free exchange of ideas and content in today's world. Really, I get it. But most of this content is SOMEONE ELSE's property. At least here in the US. So, if you STEAL someone's property, then there should be a penelty for that if you are convicted. And yes here in Texas that means I can shoot you if you commit this theft in the night. So do not copy the CSS from my website at 10pm, because TX law might make that worse then killing a puppy.

Do I think we need NEW laws to make theft a crime? Hell no. Lets just enforce what we got. It works.

Gravatar After doing some checking with Reuters.. a news service that gets a lot of respect
my take on this is that the bill was fully Supported by george Bush and his goverment ,
As to punching so called Pop Stars wow i would need a lot of time its
A Biggggggg list

Gravatar "And yes here in Texas that means I can shoot you if you commit this theft in the night."

i always wondered about this - is it true you guys can legally blow someone away if they step on your lawn without permission or is that some chinese whisper?

Gravatar No, you can't use deadly force for trespassing. Which is what that would be. You CAN however use it for "Theft in the Nightime" or "Criminal Mischief in the Nighttime"

So if you are digging up the lawn....look out.

Gravatar here you cant even hit someone if they enter your house by driving a car in your front window , with you being arrested..... its a crazy world

Gravatar If you ever see a guy waving a "don't shoot! English invasion!!" sign outside your house, invite me in for some drinks and keep the shooter tucked under the bed

Gravatar Woahhhhhhh hold on there ghostie ...... u don't wanna go to his house lollerz ..... heard there's a crazy glesca bint there and it wouldn't be the shooter u had to worry about - i'm thinking it's the half brick to the heid kinda thing

Gravatar Though normally a very placid and non-violent person, I must ask .... to where must I go to join the "smack Craig David" queue?

Gravatar This bill is so ludicrously over-the-top and disproportionate to the "crime" (Jean Valjean, call your office), I get the sense that this is more of a "pile on this additional charge to pressure defendants into plea-bargains" style of thing than a serious charge (not that ambitious/desperate/insane prosecutors wouldn't actually try for it if they believed they could bamboozle/intimidate a jury into taking it seriously); but that's just me.

At the very least, for not vetoing it when it lands on his desk? (He sure hasn't shown any evidence so far of willingness to wield that veto pen, except on this subject -- which raises suspicions when there are so many other more-deserving bills . . . ?)

> It may be "supported" by the Administration, but laws are passed by the Congress, not the President.

FYI:
- The legislative branch "passes" laws by voting to approve them.
- The executive branch "passes" laws by signing them.
- The judicial branch "passes" laws by upholding them on appeal.

And so, W is utterly powerless to veto them, he must sign them then? He's just a figurehead: a helpless pawn of his advisers, with no principles or spine at all then? "Congress put it on my desk -- I had to sign it -- they made me sign it"?

(see: USAPATRIOT Act, sprung on Congress by the W Administration without opportunity to be read before being voted on: a strange thing for a supposedly "right-wing/small-government/conservative" Republican administration to do . . . almost as if it had been drafted long in advance and held back until the exactly-right moment, shall we say, 'presented itself'?)

Bring along some o' thet thar OMG BBQ, and it's all good.

Why do I gather the strong impression that the queue forms behind PG?
