I don't know about you, but I'm not all that aware of many 63 year olds who would be considered all that computer literate, let alone computer savvy enough to get involved in the script kiddie arena, get their hands on a virus and re-write their own variant of it.

at 63 its possible he could be very savvy in early machine based coding and or early Basic or Cobol loading progs in that he could well have knowlege of the Source codes behind a lot of todays mainframes

True, but the rule of averages says otherwise and I tend to lean more towards that at this early stage. Once more information comes out (read: if more information comes out and this story isn't just forgotten about by the media) opinions may happily change.
