A Revolution is the Solution

zango=slime.
They need a meeting in a dark alley with a nail studded baseball bat.

I'm listening and still wondering....where the HELL are the mad mothers and fathers with axes to take this monster down???

Gravatar Which one ? Zango or Myspace?

Id like to see both of them toasted.

Gravatar I'm listening and still wondering . . who cares? Seriously, there is so much other interesting and scarier stuff going on in security right now and you're stuck on fake profiles on myspace and zango. You didn't even write about the wmf exploit used by a banner ad on myspace, shocking. I do expect a post coming up about how your blog post was on slashdot and then probably coming up on digg and how many people visited the site and bandwidth was used, woo hoo.

I know you can write about some real interesting security subjects like the new Haxdoor variants, Rustock and how about that Blue Pill thing? Come on Chris, let the zango thing go and really educate the public please!

Gravatar Zango isn't the only business targeting myspace users by these means. I've been approached by a couple of groups looking to promote through "affiliate" programs which are little more than "pay for myspace spam" relationships.

Actually I did, I mentioned it on Spywareguide. I didn't cover it in detail because it had already been covered in detail by Brian Krebs. I'm not in the habit of simply regurgitating someone else's material. Same goes for blue pill - theres not a lot to say about it other than what Joanna presented and what the Sunbelt blog covered. If I can't add anything useful, then I'm not going to bother.

You're also contradicting yourself - you say its not interesting, yet you then mention its likely going to end up on digg, slashdot, news sites etc. This would suggest its interesting enough for the majority of people to take an interest in. Sorry, but finding an email directly contradicting the earlier claims of a company is pretty hot stuff and paints all of their previous claims in a very different light. If you don't like it, there's not a lot I can do about it.

By the way, i'm not here to "educate the public". I'm here to get stuff like this removed, which I do in rather spectacular fashion.

Gravatar I was reading the Myspace terms and conditions and noticed there is a second place where having Zango in your profile violates it. In section 8 in the second part it says in item 11:
displaying an advertisement on your profile, or accepting payment or anything of value from a third person in exchange for your performing any commercial activity on or through the MySpace Services on behalf of that person, such as placing commercial content on your profile...

This section talks about prohibited or illegal use of your Myspace page. So any member who puts one of those Zango videos in their page is also violating the terms and conditions.

Not only is Zango breaking the terms and conditions, but they are asking members to break it as well.

Gravatar An amazingly bizarre post from "anonymous" there. When PG breaks something here or on SPG and mentions the numerous pieces of press coverage - the diggs, the slashdots etc - i'd have thought it is rather obvious that this is not for our benefit.

its to let the *adware people* he's tormenting this week that the crap theyre trying to hide is begining its slow, inevitable climb to the highest mountains of publicity and if they dont want it to get worse and worse, theyd best do something about it now. i can only imagine the sense of sheer, sweaty palmed panic induced in these people every time he kicks off the carnival.

digg, slashdot etc are great sources of traffic, but really theyre nothing without the articles that cause the interest in the first place. PG has gone one step beyond this, and generated the ability to not only come up with an interesting story, but almost guarantee that the story then hits mainstream exposure over and over again as the story develops.

I would say youve not only joined the ranks of the mossbergs and dvoraks, but surpassed them because where they will write about something once and then leave it, you will pound at it until something breaks.

well done that man.

Gravatar i for one welcome our new paperghost overlord.

Gravatar destroy Zango or Myspace? i Opt for both because you just have to bet that the Canadian Paedofile they just arrested was using myspace and i dont like Zongo anyway

Gravatar I vote for destroying MySpace .... but that just my personal and biased opinion
