"When your toolbar is used to make purchases on Amazon.com you get paid a commission from the Amazon associate program."
http://alexa.com/site/devcorner/
...sociate_toolbar
You can see if that's the case by doing a search from the toolbar and then looking at the Amazon product links that come up in the sidebar. If they have a "tag=whatever" string in the url, that's their Amazon associate (affiliate) link.
/if that's the case, they pulled that part of their payload after seeing how little such a toolbar earns. It's a joke money-wise.

Toolbars. . . grrrrrrrrrrrrr.
When people install them where I work I always tell them really scary stories about them. Okay, I usually make most of it up, but I really hate toolbars. They get uninstalled whatever, no matter whose toolbar it is, hotbar
