Could sites like this be targeting the MySpace URLs submitted for spam or hacking? Maybe that is their motive, to get a "live" MySpace URL and then perform illegal activities on / with it.

They're not "targeting" it as much as they're trying to implore you to download it. Presumably if they weren't idiots and forgot to include a download link in the first place, they'd have included an affiliate link of some kind so they got some sort of kudos for you downloading FF.

The myspace stuff is a ruse, really - the main aim is simply to get you to d/l firefox. as you can see, the screenshot is actually of PG *running* firefox while being told to....download it. they must think we were all born yesterday!

so basically the site does not work in firefox, so you have to install firefox to view the site

Now though all that the site's giving me is an error message, perhaps they've realized their screwup

yup, with the "gag" being that even after you install FF, you still get told you "have to install FF" to use the site.
