A Revolution is the Solution

Good Article. I read it when first published. Just went back for a refresher.

I don't know what to think of all this, Being one that grew up without the net or computers. I cant say that if I had a computer/technology around me in the late 60's, I would not have done these things also. My friends and I got into enough trouble as it was.
Like some of these kids, I was more easily coerced by my peers than others. I was the one always in trouble, not them.

Back then, parents were more involved with their kids, and chose who could be their peer,as they did for me after getting into trouble. I feel parents today are too busy themselves to worry about their kids, other than their health.

It's almost like the parents today are afraid of their kids. They don't punish their kids for doing wrong. Example: My nephew did something bad at school. What was the punishment; Sent to his room. His room with a TV, computer, x-box and anything else you can think of. And have you heard the way some kids talk AT their parents today?

When I was a kid and did wrong in school, The first thing you got was a ass whipping from the principal. When you got home, you got another from Dad. Then sent to your room with nothing, not even dinner. After this, a month restriction of In Room punishment. And you didn't talk back.

What it boils down to for me is, Parents don't spend enough quality time with their kids to teach them right from wrong. Parenting today has been left for others to do, instead of the parent, who should be doing it.

Did this make sense?

Hi Ed Q

Yes it makes perfect sense as i have seen exactly what you are talking about far to often parents abrogate responsibility for their children to a school a club a computer a games machine so the child then looks for approval in people of its own age and on the net this leads to hacking and lots of other very nasty stuff...
