Honestly, thinking about such a miscarriage of justice brough on by pure ignorance and hypocrisy makes me very depressed, to the point of crying. And I'm not kidding.
It's a true shame, and if there's any justice in this world all the parts involved, from the spyware creators, to the ignorant prosecutors, to the people who made no effort in bringing out the truth will pay for this.

Found another comment on the PBS TeacherSource "Learning. Now" Blog at http://www.pbs.org/
teachersource...in_the_jul.html
that is sorely in need of suitable rebuttal (hint, hint PG!). The comment (by someone named 'Robert') quotes a promise from Mark Lounsbury that he'll share the damning evidence (that will assure everyone of Julie Amero's guilt) after the sentencing.
I can't wait. No holds or punches barred, please.

I left them this, though considering its up for "approval" before it goes live, anything could happen.
But meh, here it is anyway:
Hi, I'm Paperghost, Microsoft MVP in Security and Director of Malware Research for FaceTime Security Labs. I also happen to be madder than a bag of monkeys at the nonsense being hurled in Julie Ameros direction as a result of this stupid, stupid witch-hunt. Let's slice this up real quick because I have about another six hundred websites to go do the same thing on...
"To all those of little faith who believe the Government (aka: BIG Brother) and its minions would conspire to persecute innocent, GOD fearing individuals for entertainment I say GET A GRIP."
....awesome, the implication here is that Inspector Clouseau denies outright that "the man" will harass and annoy you, but ONLY if you're "god fearing".
What does that mean for the rest of us who AREN'T "god fearing", are we doomed if we happen to get tangled up in a Norwich style foul up of biblical proportions?
What line of police thinking is based around what religion you are?
"I have explained the process of investigating these types of crimes to Network Performance Daily."
...oh well, we better wrap this one up then, he's right.
Sorry, network performance what-what? Never heard of it, and just because you happened to tell some paper / website how you do things, has no bearing whatsoever on whether what you're saying is correct or not.
A comment he made at PCWorld:
"My opinion is not important but I am fleshing out a theory concerning site blocking software which was in place and how to circumvent it."
...uh, does this seem like he's STILL TRYING TO WORK OUT WHAT HAPPENED AFTER THE EVENT?
Would this not have been better if it had, you know, been done BEFORE Amero was convicted? I can't wait to see his "killer evidence", because it almost sounds to me like he's going to paint Julie Amero out as being some leet hax hacker who planted filtering circumvention software onto the PC.
And then I'm going to LOL. A lot.
"Does Ms. Amero not have a computer in her home with many of the same “cookies” from these porno sites logged in?"
Newsflash, those tracking cookies are incredibly common and chances are, if you've ever seen a popup you likely have one of them on your PC too. Sorry, why are we talking about her home PC again?
Oh right, witch-hunt. Sorry, I forgot.
"Is it not true that there was less than 1 minute between Ms. Amero’s accessing of her personal AOL account and the offending “hairstyle” website?"
...meaning what, exactly? What's your point?
"Why didn’t she turn off the monitor?"
....because she was told not to by the teacher who provided her with the passwords.
"Throw a coat over it?"
Because that could, you know, catch fire and burn the school down. Mind you, she could probably walk into the school and chain-gun everyone and get less than 40 years so maybe she should have gone coat crazy after all.
"Why did her students report that she simply sat at her computer for the entire period?"
....because after being told to "not turn it off" and not going for the "let's burn down the school with a coat" defence, that was all she COULD do.
You do know that the angle the PC was at meant that the kids couldn't actually see the screen from their desks, right?
You didn't?
Oh well, you do now.
"Note too, that Ms. Amero didn’t notify anyone (not even the teacher that was logged in) of the incident?"
...congratulations, you are spectacularly incorrect. Considering you're so enamored with assassinating Julie Amero's character with soundbites and half-truths, I'll leave it to you to see if you're actually interested enough to find out their name.
Something tells me you won't.
