Oh, SRP, I am crying after reading this. Poor Max - and poor you. I know what it is to love an animal so much and lose them, so I hope Max isn't terminal, and that there is sone other explanation for his ascites. I will be thinking about you and Max - hoping and praying for the best.
About Blogger: it was certainly messed up last night. I tried 4 times to leave a message for you, but I couldn't even get the page to load.

Sorry to hear about the trials and tribulations with Max. Having a pet for many years and then seeing them get very ill and having to let him/her go must be, indeed, very tough. My parents had cats, but they were outdoor cats and all died prematurely...

Sweet Max is loved. He knows that. We've rescued dogs, had dogs and cats put out on us, taken pets from neighbors when they had to move. Its a special bond with each of them, even with the odder and stand-offish ones. I'll be thinking of Max today and hoping for good news. I'll be thinking of you too, because I know just how you feel.

Sorry to hear about Max. I know I've gone through some trials with my two that fortunately turned out ok. Pray that Max will too.

The tears are flowing. Our Max the dog was rescued, too, as all of our animals have been. Our Max had heartworms, too. He has to be sedated for the vet trips! I do so hope your Max pulls through this well.

Poor puppy! I am so sad for you. Remember that no matter what Max will have this time of comfort and love. You gave him that.

Max is so lucky to have a mama that knows him so well that she can tell when something is not quite right - even if the medical tests and doctors say it isn't so. I know how it is to love a pet to pieces and I'm so sorry this is happening. But it sounds like you've given him a good life after he had some rough times... good for you and I'll keep my fingers crossed that whatever it is is curable!

My tears are flowing for you and Max. But, you can rest assurded that you have done everything within your power to help him, and the life you have given him while in your care has erased all his prior hardships. My prayers and thoughts are with you. Letting go is very difficult.

Update: The vet called and the fluid is negative for malignant cells and infection. This doesn't mean he is in the clear, we still don't know why he has fluid. Next step is the ultrasound next Tuesday. Meanwhile, I'll just love on him every chance I have. He should be totally rotten by tomorrow with all the extra special attention.

My thoughts are prayers will be with you guys. I'm hoping it's something very minor, it's so hard p it's times like this we wish they could tell us what was wrong. We had a recent scare with Oscar, hopefully things will work out well for you as they did for us/him.

I'm so glad that the path report was negative for malignancy or infection. Samantha, my cat companion of 19 years, was playful throughout her long life... until her last couple of weeks, when she was clearly suffering from a lung tumor, much like your Dottie.
Does the Lasix seem to be helping Max feel any better? I hope the ultrasound provides good news.

My heart is breaking for you. I have lost two dogs in two years and I know how difficult this is. I will say a little prayer for Max and hope that everything turns out OK.
