*mwah* *mwah* airkisses all around
I agree with your comment regarding Hollywood, Roxanne. My pet peeve on that count is the use of huge cars and owning huge houses yet publicly endorsing wise energy use. Ha! The diamonds are yet another nail in the coffin of the honesty that Hollywood actually eschews.
I did end up watching the last 40 minutes of the awards tho. As for the old nylons, they were gone by the time I was old enough to care. My first memories of stocking were those pantyhose in plastic eggs.

I DO remember seamed stockings, in fact, I wore them as a young teen, and they were always heading for a crooked course (or sagging). I was so happy when pantyhose came on the scene!
I have never seen that flower before, and it is beautiful.
No, we didn't have thunder (that I heard) but it did rain off and on all day yesterday. You had thunder? I wonder if that means the same thing in Feb. as it does in Jan? Namely, snow in 9 days?

The world of nylon stockings was just starting its transformation when I started to wear such things. I do remember the dark seams as well as the garter belts. I was happy to see both of these items go.
Lovely photo.

Eye candy heaven over here. Where exactly did you have your camera perched for the fungus photo. Oh, I like the sound of that-fungus photo. I also love the vision I conjure of you putzing along the drainage ditch...the very same that flooded last year, if I recall.
Blue-eyed grass? That wins the Oscar.

Great photo and word association. My first thought was 'pinstripe' but yours is better with the seamed stocking reference.
I remember my Mamaw wore them.

that is a beautiful picture...I have just been checking out the internet looking for plants that would be appropriate for my English garden I am planting this year...it will be a work in progess for awhile...but what fun planning it.
Now about those stockings....I remember my mom telling me that during the war when stockings were a premimum they would take a black marker and make a black line down their leg....to funny...I can't imagine wearing them...although...i do kinda like the stay ups...no clips ....

What a beautiful flower! And you're right about those awful seams. I can remember them and having to wear them to high school. It was a girls' school and of course as well as the stockings, it was hats, gloves and blazers never, never unbuttoned!
I'm so happy those days have gone!

I remember those stockings! Goodness rememeber the time before panty hose? I can rememeber my Mother putting on a *gasp* girdle and having to hook the stocking to the girdle! Funny, those old girdles have nearly come full circle because I see them out in the lingerie departments now.

Lovely flower and magnificient photo. I might be a little slow, but the beauty of the flowers don't reminds me of stockings. What I remember, besides the seams, are all the jokes connected to those stockings )

My mom told me about drawing the seam on her legs too. At least it would stay straight, if she drew it straight I guess I'll have to ask her how many attempts it took to get it right.
Love love this macro photo. I like tiny things close up.

Hi Roxanne. You've reminded me why I find photography so powerful: sometimes, just the thought of an image can conjure up a deeply-rooted memory.
Gorgeous capture, as always.
