When I reposted the soldier's message under his new account instead of under my name, I managed to break the link to the comments at Haloscan. Pretty stupid on my part.
I will repost the messages one by one, and I have already forwarded each one to the soldier.

Hello again Soldier. I'm really glad to read your update on how things are going. I want you to know I just spoke to my son who is also in your unit. He told me about having pictures made with Peter Jennings and making the flight back with you and the commander. He also is not a fan of Mr. Jennings. I agree with everything you said about the commander. I don't know her very well but the little bit I do know and have seen, I think my son is in very good hands. I know my son's heart in this mission and he will do a good job. I look forward to reading your next update soon.
Please take care of yourself and your unit. Be safe!! You have our support in what you are doing. Bye for now. A nervous mom.

Thanks for sharing. It's great to hear from real, typical soldiers without the media filter BS.
Thanks for the job you're doing. God bless and best of luck with the elections.

The Iraqui leaders' attitude comes straight from their "religion" (political doctrine). It is the example of Muhammed and all who came after him as designated "clerics". "Booty" is the
reward. It says so in the scriptures.

I wonder if we can get a copy of this blog to Peter Jennings and more importantly, get him to read it. I doubt it would change his demeanor as he probably thinks we are all brainwashed. I'm an airman in the Virginia NG and I've run into some media types myself. Most of them do just what Jennings did, dig for negative comments. When they do not get them, they quickly end the interview, say thank you for my service(normally with a look like they ate a lemon) and scurry off to find some younger airman or soldier that might be disgruntled. Guess who's comments get into the article?

Thanks for confirming what I had always suspected...that Peter Jennings and others of his ilk are simply out to thwart the spread of democracy wherever it may go.

Thanks, friend. We miss you and love you. We were delighted this week to receive a Happy Birthday call from a soldier in Iraq. Hope you all can hang in there until my 40th! Better yet, come home before then...

Hello, soldier. My son has been in Iraq for one week today. He too reports how different things seem from media's portrayal. He looks forward to his missions and makes me very proud. I am single and a thousand miles from my closest family member, so the "good news" warms my heart and helps me be a little less scared. On the days my son can't email I will visit your blog and look forward to being uplifted yet again. Thanks! Be safe.
