If we go for more nuclear power, then we have learned very little.
time to seek alternative power sources AND stop consuming so much.

I would be the first to advocate pursuing reducing consumption. It's a no-brainer.
No alternative power sources that exist or are on our radar screen can come close to handling our current energy needs, much less what we will need in ten years. And I say this as an alternative energy guy who worked in the solar field until Reagan torpedoed the industry.

Gate, you are a pragmatist.
Surely, as oil becomes harder and more expensive to bring to the surface, even you will want to tap into other cost competitive means of energy production.
