The bridge is named after Don Young,the House Transportation Committee chairman and Republican. Need I add that ?
In June 2004, the New Orleans Times Picayune reported that " for the first time in 37 years, federal budget cuts have all but stopped major work on the New Orleans areas east bank hurricane levees. " This money was ransacked from needed ventures into pork barrell bridges and other Bush crony favorites..
After a decade in power, the Republican congress are a testamant to Lord Actons famous observation..." Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely".

General, Sir;
Request permission to call Don Young a Motherfucker and a piece of shit, sir.
I saw in the local paper where the same lackabrainian editor who said we shouldn't play the blame game (unless it's to blame local and state officials in NOLA)now says, with a straight face, that the gubmint better send some moolah to rebuild the pier cause a big ass storm might tear it up and fuck up the ability of the dayyachters to tie up their 39' fiberglass penises while they eat seafood that comes from way the hell off.
I'm a bit worried sir, I've been a little pissed for about the last 11 years (ever since brother Newt stroked the beaks of the base and they all fell into a chickenhawk KKKoma)but just lately I'm feeling that "Jesus in the temple, with the money lenders, kicking ass and taking names" kinda righteous rage. Can we revive one of democracy's greatest tools, sir, and start voting the graveyards again--just to offset the Diebold Margin of Error? Thank you sir, I need better stuff in the way of pharmacopia.

Grapeviners are now saying the bridge is to be built by Halliburtion subsidiaries ...
"Blessed is Halliburton, for the bridges to nowhere they provide to their people ..."

I may be stuck on an island for the next week or so, but I look resplendant in my new Republican Jesus tee ("By Our Works") as I stroll down Main St.
These natives are restless, Sir.
I heard some moaning about their Medicare. What will they think when it disappears to pay for Trent's porch?
I hope it's a really really nice porch...
Hey! Jesus winked at me!

BlackCatsAlfa:
FWIW, Lord Acton lives in Cedar Rapids, IA part of the year...because, you know, that's where the real power lives (and corrupts). Dis be a true ting I tell you.

And don't forget, y'all, that one of the FIRST pork attachments to the Katrina Way-Too-Late Relief Bill was to build a motherfucking PARKING GARAGE in *BOZEMAN, MONTANA.*
I shit you not.
Fucking Montana.
I mean, bless Ted Turner's heart and all of the fine peeps in Bozeman who sent their two little LearJets down here packed with commodity cheese and all, but how in the FUCK does that earn them a FEDERALLY-SUBSIDIZED PARKING GARAGE?!?!?!

Good evening Anti;
You have been smokin' the web of late, my dear (when you haven't been busy doin' the Red Cross's job for them).
That parking garage in Bozeman can't be the work of the Reptilichancres. There's less than 27,000 people in Bozeman and over 90 of them are black so as anyone can plainly see it's them goddamn welfare queens as usual.
Stinkeye; I am happy whenever someone as creatively vicious, artistically ferocious and gleefully aggressive towards the sons and daughters of the Darkness as are you and Annti, says hi and pats me on my scaly and ill-tempered head.
Sleep well my darlings so you can rise to disembowel some more GOPig sacred cows tomorrow.

Why, thank you as always, DemoCom... But you make me a little homesick for the good ol' days in NOLA when I could smoke more than cancer-sticks... *sigh*
(Have I mentioned that sarcoidosis sucks?!?)
And, re: the Red "Wait Six Days And THEN Maybe We'll Do Something"/Iron Cross: FUCK 'EM. Those maggots did a worse number on NOLA than they did on NYC after 9/11, where they PURPOSELY DIVERTED FUNDS THAT WERE DIRECTLY INTENDED FOR 9/11 VICTIMS --- to their "other projects."
If you MUST give to a big charity, make it Feed The Children or (gasp!) The Salvation Army. At least the Salvation Army didn't wait for any "government approval" or fucking bureaucratic "permission" shit to GET OFF OF THEIR ASSES AND GET DOWN THERE AND TAKE CARE OF PEOPLE. So even though they are somewhat obnoxiously christian, they at least get my vote for getting shit DONE. Same goes for Feed The Children, though they're a little slower-moving than the SA.

Maybe it's because I was raised in the Methodist church by a Dutch Reformed mama, but I have always liked the SA. They are sincere, committed people who DO something to help, and they aren't out to get themselves on teevee in the process. I don't even think it's onerous that in order to get a free meal at their shelters, you first have to attend a prayer service. It won't hurt and it might help.

Hi Cinnamon;
It ain't the praying that galls me about the SA, it's the anti-gaying. They do a lot of good and a little praying never made anybody melt but the "carve outs" as to who God loves and who he doesn't--too much like the boyscouts. I could almost deal with it if they would just be honest and say, "Yes, we do some pretty strange things when the lights are out but the samesexsex scares us!"

What DemoCom said.
And yes, prayer can TOO hurt --- I've got the burnt retinas to prove it!
