JG, you're a better man than I am. I couldn't tolerate listening to that recording all the way through. I heard most of the opening rant, listened to your response, then heard the opening of Skytower's replies before I gave up.
One thing I noticed: in his opening remarks, he talked about not voting with your emotions. You pointed out (correctly) that his use of Obama's middle name was an appeal to fear and bigotry -- basically an appeal to emotions. His reply started out with "Obama scares me!" -- yet another appeal to emotions. That was about all I could take.
Like I say, you're a better man than I am. I would not have been able to sit through it all.
For what it's worth, I think you did well -- based on what I was able to stomach.

CBS's Sunday Morning show today neglected to interview you for their piece on patriotism. I wonder what they were thinking?! There's a museum in Atlanta that needs some input from you fer shure fer shure. The Princeton Perfesser had insightful insights to share about why Patriotism is not good. I figure he'll be first in front of the firing squads when they find him.

Despite the sound problems and the fact that you were speaking off the cuff compared to Skytower reading from a prepared script, I don't think anyone with any sense could listen to that and hear anything but your inner Frenchman opening a can of "Le Derrierre avec les Gran Wallop" on that maudit blowhard.
Anyone who thinks a candidate who promises a 3 to 5 percent tax hike for the top 5 percent of income earners and a tax break for the bottom 95 percent is Chairman Mao and that equates the choice between McCain and Obama with the choice between Miami and Havana is not just wrong or illogical, they are deranged.

Some points you could raise next time you debate the idiots:
1. Soviet Germany was called "The Democratic Republic of Germany". Interestingly enough, your opponent does not use this example of Democracy being evil. Something should be said about cherry-picking names... Also comes to mind "the Roman Holy Empire" which was a lose German confederacy which constantly fought the Pope. Sure, N. Korea calls itself socialistic, as did the Soviet union. They were as socialistic as they were Democratic.
2. When speaking to bigots, here is an old fable you should use:
Arthur borrowed a jar from his neighbor. After he gave it back, the neighbor knocks on his door, complaining that the jar is broken. To this Arthur replies:
"First of all, I never borrowed any jar from you. Secondly, the jar was fine when I gave it back to you. And also, it was already broken when you gave it to me".

I was interested to read the various comments posted here about our debate. I do have to say that I'm astonished that most of them seem to think that you won somehow! That is simply not the case, if one really takes the time to listen objectively to it all.
Of course, I realize that you were not prepared to do a serious debate, due to the time constraints, for which I am sorry. This is perhaps why your answers weren't very organized, and so scattered.
Would you like to do a rematch? I'm hoping that this time, you will be able to prepare, and be able to do a better job.
The location is up to you this time. We could even have it at your "Donkey Club?"

Listened to the entire debate and would like to see ("hear" may be a better way to put it)another. Not because of any win/lose scenario rather I like to hear you counter nonsense with logic. Mr Skytower's points include all the repub talking points with some "fear" added, i.e.; no change. It takes little analysis of a given subject to reduce it to a black and white, all or nothing issue which is typical right wing.
When the first two minutes of a presentation include the phrase "I'm not going to lie..." that pretty much means that the ensuing blather is all fabricated!
Mr. Hightower clearly spent some time honing his remarks to be superficial and snarky (well done!). It would have been nice for him to include actual facts rather than simply parrot Republican talking points.
Rather than cite Mr. Obamas record of legislation, he merely relied on his retarded misinterpretation of Obamas Joe the Plumber comments as proof positive that he's an evil socialist.
Or perhaps, he did do some research and, saw that Obamas legislative record doesn't support his ignorant assertions and rightly chose to stick with what he's good at (snarking/prevaricating and witty bon mots).
I have to agree with other posters here and commend your piety and restraint. I would have bitch-slapped that asshat out of his chair, then taken a piss on him.
