5.3 billion to patrol Canadian waters in the arctic is ridiculous. Period. Why is it necessary? So one day we can find oil up there and we can claim it is on Canadian land? Why would Canadians fight so hard against drilling on the Alaskan/Yukon border because it disrupts the ecosystem, and then turn around and say we need to claim the arctic so that we can possibly drill there in the future? It does not make sense. Furthermore, this is Harper's way of "confronting" the USA. With guns! Unlike other politicians who like to use diplomacy and hard questioning of Canada/America trade disputes - Harper seems content on "flexing" Canadian military muscle. Give me a break!
