Good analysis. I especially agree with your concluding comments. As enraged as I am by the Nuestro Himno, I really think it will help our cause, GC. Let those who are politically moderate on the issue of illegal immigration now see it for what it really is - an purely anti American movement.
You just can't try to start your new life as an American by breaking our laws. It's a contradiction. It's like saying, "I don't f-ing cuss anymore. I gave that sh-t up."
These people don't want a share of the American dream. Much like what they've done to our anthem, they want to hijack it and change it into something that we Americans won't even recognize once they are done.

Ahhhhhh... I'm agreeing with Jeff on something Immigration related. (I'm having a Star Wars moment...)
Seriously, I find this "anthem" as offensive as the waiving of national flags in pro-amnesty rallies. Contrary to the assertions to the contrary, this is not like our Italian and Irish-American brothers puting up a national flag... In these rallies, the assertion is that we ARE Americans already and that the United States is denying us our proper place in society... hence the supposed connection to the Civil Rights Movement.
Have to agree with you guys... and this doesn't help the "cause."

G-Veg, you don't think this helps "the cause"? I would be curious to know why.
The way I look at it, a little extra anger from the pro-law camp can't hurt. If anything, it might actually lead to the election of honest-to-God anti-illegal reformers. (Am I being naive?)

GC- That is the problem with inexactness in my language. "The cause" which I refer is that of the immigrant advocates. We are on the same page.
