Didn't see much of it, but I do think Huckabee's "spending like John Edwards in a barber shop" line was the best moment of the night.

Gravatar Yeah, you're right. That was a good one. Edwards is such easy fodder. He may well be the #1 example of a limousine liberal these days. I sure want to be in his two Americas. I need a good haircut!

Gravatar I'm leaning towards Tancredo or Hunter right now. Giuliani and McCain are both absolute slime.

Gravatar Hunter has really impressed me a lot. I don't think he's got much of a shot, but frankly, of all the announced canddiates, he might be my favorite.

Gravatar Between Tancredo, Hunter and Paul, the campaign is proving what we've known for awhile - the last vestige of true conservatives with any power in Washington is a small group of House Republicans. The White House and Senate have been lost causes for sometime. House GOP leadership is too. Can these guys and gals save the party? I doubt it. For example, it was this group (led by Tancredo) that defeated immigration reform in 2006. Sadly I don't think they're going to be able to do it again. But it would be very appropriate if a presidential candidate rose from their ranks, even if destined to lose in the general. I can dream, right? BTW, Tancredo's campaign manager is Bay Buchanan. Last prez campaign she managed saw her big bro with the NH primary! Like I said, I can dream!

Nor do I. It's funny how the loss of majority status has hindered the efforts of those members of the GOP who oppose this plan. For all their faults, House Republicans faught effectively against the comprehensive immigration reform plan. Who would have thunk that giving the Dems a majority in both houuses would have led to this insanity.

Yeah, who woulda thunk it.

Gravatar Agreed. This is a natural result of the loss of Congress. But that was also a natural result of a series of self-inflicted wounds during the last 6 years. The Dems are merely acting like Dems. Doesn't make it right. But it's hard to get fighting mad at Teddy Kennedy acting like Teddy Kennedy. From a purely politcal standpoint, they see 20 million votes here and nothing else. Pathetic but they've done it before and will again. It's the spineless GOP who still deserve most of the blame, say I, for letting it get to this point. The group of House Republicans described here is a clear exception. The voice they can keep in the party as it moves forward may determine the very future of our nation. Tancredo in 08.
