Ever hate something so much that you gave money year after year to an organization dedicated to helping that very same thing flourish???
Naturally. I always donate to the Klan. I'd like to think that my donation will make them rethink their prejudices and come around. Surely Rudy's thoughts are along the same lines.
Or maybe he's just a big fat liar.
If nothing else, I always respected Rudy because he wasn't a typical politician. I guess that was true so long as he wasn't running for President.

I don't know what to make of the GOP's implosion.
To its credit, it has dragged the Dems, kicking and screaming, to the Right. The consequence of this success seems to be a difficulty in motivating its base.
Since the Primary races are so heavily influenced by extreme voices, both Dems and GOPers rarely get a Centrist choice for any office. I think that Americans WANT a Centrist and that the need to stir up the radical elements of the parties in order to get through the Primary is particularly bad for our Republic.
These are not, by any stretch of the imagination, novel thoughts and Rudy's case is a good example. IF no one had pointed these things out, GOP voters in the General election would likely have voted for him, figuring that he would replace the two or 3 outgoing SCrt. Justices with those disposed to supporting a robust defense of Right to Life. Had he been elected, many would have been outraged by the duplicitous behavior.
Thus, since the issue is a substantive one, the "leaking" of the information was good for the body politic.
Finally, that Rudy's staff thought no one would notice says volumes about the lack of competence of GOP strategists.

Pro-choice, anti-gun. If he had a (D) next to his name he'd be a great candidate.
