And as a commentator noted on my blog:
One should note that Michael Davies recently wrote an article defending Cardinal Ratzinger and has long supported the good Cardinal. The recent article to which I refer can be found here:

Michael Davies had a long friendship with Cardinal Ratzinger which, for whatever reason, very few people knew about. He was also good friends with Alfons Cardinal Stickler. Davies had some enemies among Catholics-turned-neo-Protestant, but at least he had some friends in Rome!

Michael Davies was a lion of the Catholic Faith, a scholarly apologist and a man who gave his life for the defence of sacrality and dignity in liturgical worship. A true Welshman, a Briton of the old school and a loyal Christian. I only met him once in Rome at an Una Voce Conference and I was struck by his determination and his typically British sense of humor. If today we celebrate Pope Benedict's Motu Proprio liberalising the Tridentine Mass, let us remember and pray for the man who, together with the late Archbishop Lefebvre, lived and struggled unceasingly for that day to come. May the Blessed Virgin Mary intercede for him before her Divine Son, whose loyal servant Michael Davies was.
