This is just what I expect from him, God bless him. For the past few years he'd been trying to resign his Vatican posts and retire, but John Paul II wouldn't let him. He certainly never wanted to be Pope. Indeed, it would be a bad sign if he, or anyone, had such an ambition. Who would want such a burden? Only if the Lord wills it should a man agree to wear the Fisherman's Ring.
I sure as heckfire wouldn't want to be pope! Can you imagine the HUGE pressure?
I would never want to be pope. I want to be the guy with the pointy red bag on his head that stretches liberals on the rack and roasts Comic Book Guys like lovehandles over an open fire. Now THAT'S a vocation!!

Why list just one? Your very first comment here included a lie. You said the election of Pope Benedict XVI would cause African children to contract and die of AIDS, whereas you know it is violation of the Church's teachings on sexual conduct that spreads AIDS, not obedience to the Church's teachings.

Then there was that time you stated that the Church not only can but must violate Christ's teaching that reserves ordination to men.
I also seem to recall a time when you represented yourself to be someone's employer and put words in that employer's mouth that made it seem that a commentator here had received a public reprimand for participating here on company time.
Then there was that time you said a commentator here was advertising his status as employee of a certain business, when you knew you had no evidence of that accusation -- an accusation you repeated even when your falsehood was exposed.
There's also the times you've said a commentator here accused you of being a pedophile.
I might also point to your statement that one or more commentators here has "murderous thoughts about burning heretics."
Finally, and most seriously, you have several times called yourself a Catholic, even though you congratulate yourself on refusing to believe what the Catholic Church teaches.
Tell you what, "lovehandles": how about you just post a formal apology for what you did on Sunday, and then I post an acceptance of your apology, and no longer remind the readers of this weblog of what you did.
