Based on St. Malachy's prophecy, this pope was supposed have associations with St. Benedict. although it was interpreted slightly different from the Benedictines. So this is second to the last (because John Paul was the eclipse pope.)
9. The Glory of the Olive. The Order of St. Benedict has said this Pope will
come from their order. It is interesting that Jesus gave his apocalyptic
prophecy about the end of time from the Mount of Olives. This Pope will reign
during the beginning of the tribulation Jesus spoke of. The 111th prophesy is
"Gloria Olivae" (The Glory of the Olive). The Order of Saint Benedict has claimed that this pope will come from their ranks. Saint Benedict himself prophesied that before the end of the world his Order, known also as the Olivetans, will triumphantly lead the Catholic Church in its fight against evil.

I guess we shall soon find out whether or not the prophecy of St. Malachy is just the prophecy of St. Malarkey.

Let us hope the prophecy is true that, whether or not Jesus returns in the next pontificate, the long line of popes really is almost exhausted. What liberation that would be. *S*

ok, I didnt write that comment and somebody is clearly impersonating me here. It doesnt take a genius to figure out who.
For the record, I wish no ill to the Pope or any human being, I simply thought the Malachy prophecy was interesting in the light of the choice of the name of Benedict.

St. Benedict was proclaimed patron saint of Europe by Pope Paul VI in 1964.

Dr. Blosser, your article calls the St. Benedict medal "richly indulgenced." I read the article, which was very informative (and even exciting), but I didn't see any references to actual indulgences one may gain from wearing it. Do you know or does anyone else out there know of indulgences attached to wearing this medal?
Thanks

Anonymous: type "Benedict" + "medal" + "indulgenced" into Google and see the results for yourself.

Yes, that comment was mine, and I should not have done that. No matter how provoked I was, there is no justification for it.
I acknowledge as well that in the past week or two, my comments here have partaken of not a little anger and pride, and frequently were of insufficient charity. For that I apologise, and also apologise for any and all hurtful things I have said to or about the commentator called lovehandles.
