Former Lutheran Rev. Paul Abbe was received into the Church only a couple of weeks ago, and he, too, was a member of the Society.

Gravatar Thanks for that information, Mr. Fagan.

Gravatar "The Rev. Phillip Max Johnson ... was received into full communion with the Roman Catholic Church by Fr. J. Scott Newman, of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville, SC, on August 20, 2006."

Is this an eschatological reception or a prophetic anticipation of Pr Johnson's reception?

Gravatar Al, you nailed that one! Phil just emailed me and set me straight. Ha! Blessings, nevertheless!

Gravatar What about Frank Senn? Has he ever swum the Tiber?

He seemed to have given a very Catholic-leaning talk at the Aquinas-Luther conference last year (or was it the year before).

Gravatar David:

I too was at that conference and wonder the same thing. Maybe he's worried about his family, or even his pension. It's not unheard of.

Best,
Mike

Gravatar David,

No, Frank Senn has not swum -- and I cannot believe he will swim -- the Tiber. In my conversations with him, Pr. Senn is thoroughly convinced of the propriety of women's ordination, which would seem to be an impassible barrier to a conversion.

Gravatar It's entirely possible that someone convinced of the propriety of women's ordination could submit his own will to the teachings of the Church out of obedience, if not understanding. Christ Himself provides the model -- "Thy Will, not mine."

Gravatar PP,
Ah, I realize this is a long time gone here, but his other son, Tom, was my best friend in high school and after several moves I've been trying to track him down and, sadly have been unable. I tried calling their old phone in Jersey City, and this blogpost rather succintly explains the trouble I found there.

I would love to get back in touch with them, and am quite certain that the Rev Johnson would know who Jack from St Peters Prep is, especially if you mention he was the guy who used to keep the family up all night playing guitar with Tom.

Any help to this degree would be extremely helpful and appreciated. I recall Phillip's journey in trying to connect his Lutheran teachings with some of the parts of the RCC that he found more amenable, or sensible perhaps, and am happy to hear that he found some peace in that realm.

Thanks so much for any help, this search has been challenging.

Best,
Jack
