This is very heartening and inspiring. I feel very sorry for the younger generations. They are surrounded by so much temptation and continually bombarded with anti-God propaganda. I know of families where the parents have really tried to pass on the Faith yet the adult children seem to be succumbing to the world. We all desperately need the prayers of the Contemplatives and of their witness. We could also try to follow their example in so far as it is possible by reducing the clamor of the world, deepening our prayer life and being aware of the constant presence of God in the SILENCE of our lives.

The beauty of this story make my heart ache. It sounds so like St. Teresa of Avila's story! Right down to relying on God for the funds to found a new monastery to accommodate the growing numbers who are discerning a call to a true, pure Carmelite vocation. Dr. Blosser, thank you so much for reprinting this... I will make sure as many people see this as possible.

I have three good friends who have entered the Carmel in Wyoming, all of whom are from the same extended family here in Louisville, KY. And a fourth member of the family is set to enter in May of 2009! They are exceptional young men, very humble and dedicated to God and to the Church. Please support this community in any way possible. My 1-year subscription of Mystic Monk coffee recently ran out and I just ordered three new bags. I can attest not only to the quality of the men in this community, but also to that of the coffee. Thanks for the post, PP.

I was personally touched by the story and heartened to see it published by Dale Vree (who conducted the interview) in NOR. The youthful 24-year-old Brother Simon Mary set for with such clarity the whole world and ethos that used to define Catholic countries, an ethos now hardly remembered by any yet living. An inspiration. I hope the story reaps a harvest of vocations and support.

Traditional Carmelites of Wyoming are of ancient observance and great blessing to America. I am sure they will flourish.

I can't believe I almost overlooked this after the Hurricane last week. That is a great photo of them wearing thier cappa. This is the first time I've seen them in cappa I wonder what the occasion could have been.
