Strange, I didn't think of that! Just of the strange concept of having pet-friendly product for ice. Although, having read the product blurb I was almost convinced... until I thought about it a bit more.

What did you read that convinced you it was a bad idea? What I like about it is that it is environmentally friendly or did I miss something in the product blurb? I hate to think I am buying something that is more expensive than other deicers but not in any way better for pets and/or the environment.

To be fair, we don't have the sort of icy conditions over many days here that you do, so the effects on animals of whatever one uses to de-ice are much less of a concern. I don't think I've ever seen anything for dicing except huge bags of salt.
But - I do think many manufacturers play on pet lovers' tendencies/propensity to spend on their animals when they wouldn't necessarily spend on themselves or the environment.

Ahh, I see, and I agree that many manufactures do play on some pet lovers willingness to spend on their animals- see here.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.
